i don’t know if rome added that particular verse. they were in fact not the only bible “handlers”. however it does seem that verses in 1 peter do coroberate on this issue. and especially in context of the entire letter which was written to Christians whose “fiery trial” was to be used as a human torch on a roman thoroughfare. the writings of the pre nicean church fathers (which i highly recomend) are replete with accounts of Christian. martyrdoms. yet they never revolted against the roman authorities. it makes you really stop to consider the nature of the Christian of that era as compared to the seeming nature of many so called the same in this day.

But you have to look at it from their perspective too. To them, it is simply a change in industry. The fish stocks have been killed off – and they have to do something to survive. It’s really quite simple – they have no choice. And I don’t think people like us (North Americans) can make a legitimate judgement on what is happening there. The Horn of Africa has been exploited for years – the Gulf of Aden is their only means of survival – I don’t blame them.

I sympathize with the Somolian people (and this young man, K’naan) regarding the injustice and illegality of nuclear waste being dumped in their national territory (although I haven’t investigated it, it is not hard to believe), but it is no excuse, at all, for the situation being reported regarding this American captain. Simple monetary gain via violence is how it appears to me.

Caesar(government) can have no title to that which opposes God’s command….. and you are not to obey government when it demands, “by law”, that you not oppose evil power. As a Christian you are commanded to never put man’s law above God’s law, or commandment. Not just the 10 Commandments either, but all commandments brought by Jesus Christ.So Christians are commanded to oppose evil. Not obey it.
Let me ask you a question, OnlyJesusisRighteous, if you were a preacher and the government told you to close the church building because it is the law… would you obey?
Do not misinterpret Romans 13 to say that you are to obey government at all times. To pick out that passage,and interpret it that way, is taking the scriptures out of context. Are you rendering God’s word unto Caeser(government)? If so, that is a sin. Repent , and God will forgive your mistake.

Hey, f--- the government. Jesus was just being a smart ass so they didn’t hang him on the cross then and there. He was a smart guy and the bottom line was that any institution of man was f---ed up, including the Roman government and what the quasi-business the Jewish faith had degenerated into at the time.
He told the establishment where to get off, and they ended up crucifying him for it. Whether you believe in him as a religious figure or not is up to you, but as a historical figure he stood for freedom, enlightenment, and humanity. You’d have a lot to learn from him no matter which way you looked at it, as long as you do so objectively and with an open mind.
That Romans 13 still going around and people taking it seriously is proof that after 2,000 years some people are still as stupid if not worse … then again as Alex Jones always points out, they weren’t drinking fluoride-laced water back then.

Yep, I was just looking at that last nite in fact. Pilate did not want to hand over Jesus to the Jews because he seen nothing wrong in what Jesus stood accused of doing. Piltae wanted to let him go but the crowd of Jews became even more upset and reminded Pilate of Jewish custom and to release one prisoner at that time of year.
The crowd of Jews wanted Barabas to be freed. Pilate still wanted to let Jesus go and then the crowd of Jews told Pilate that he was placing himself in a higher position than Caesar if he let Jesus go. The crowd of Jews apparently began to be worked into a frenzy and began yelling, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”.
Pilate then released Jesus to the crowd of Jews…as the story goes.

I love all this banter about dumping, but there simply is NOT any proof whatsoever! NOTHING in U.N., nothing in W.H.O., or even Red Cross about toxic waste. I was there in 1993, and I can tell you this: One, they are lazy bastards who would kill their own without a single thought, TWO, they have no ambition to care for themselves so long as they can play the “victim”, and THREE, I no longer give to aid agencies simply because after thirty years of UNICEF and the like, don’t you think they would have made progress SOMEWHERE? Not a lick of it! If anything, it’s worse, so let them clean up their own mess for a change. Charity begins at home, damnit, so let it being here n the U.S.! Feed our own citizens instead of theirs! House the homeless here instead of NON citizens, and finally, stop spending money on people who won’t LEARN from their mistakes. We’ve wasted enough time and effort on Africa – but that goes for any group who won’t take responsibility for their situation. I could not care less if it’s Bang-The Dish or whatever you call that country, I want to see our own citizens taken care of first.
