Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has called for a probe into $70 billion worth of pay deals planned for employees of failed banking firms receiving government aid.

Kucinich said Sunday that he was directing his staff to immediately probe Wall Street firms that have received any portion of the $700 billion bailout plan recently passed by Congress, in response to a recent report by The Guardian outlining the firms’ dramatic drops in revenue, but not in executive compensation.

That Friday report showed that over $70 billion was to be allocated towards pay deals, including discretionary bonuses, at firms such as Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.

“When Congress placed restrictions on excessive executive pay, it had no intention of permitting business as usual with respect to bonus structures,” Kucinich said. “It would add insult to injury to ask taxpayers not only to bailout a firm, but to pay for bonuses as well. The Guardian’s report necessitates an immediate inquiry.”

THANK YOU, Dennis Kucinich!!! Congress only has the power that it is WILLING TO USE!!! (It’s just like our Rights – which do us no good unless we are aware of them and willing to stand up for them!)

    2. NeoCon Narc Says:

      Hell Yeah Dennis!!!
      This corruption is overboard.
I thought they said the money was to bail out main street??
I don’t see main street getting anything. I see Wall street having a party though.
The world economy goes to hell, and all Wall street executives got was a few millions for all their hard work of cooking the books.
      Those guys have it hard.

    3. Big Bill Says:

We need to start showing support to our only hope; Patriots like Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul not only during election years but with the on going months ahead. We need to show other congress men/women who we really support and what actions they are taking.

If they don’t respond then we use the internet more and more to spread what these two congress men have been saying. Emails , YouTube, Yahoo whatever source you use the must just keep forwarding as many people each day with links of videos, articles or forums of what Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul is doing.

And Dont Pollute the Forwards with your own little spin; just let there message speak for itself !

I’ll see the Rest of you at the “Battle For Blair Mountain”

Well said Texas – I would hope that every Congress Person and not just Dennis K., get their ass in gear and keep an eye on the foxes in the hen house – before all the eggs are gone! Therefore, please kindly keep the angry, demanding e-mails flowing to Washington to all of your 3 reps – the one in Congress and the 2 in the Senate. I urge you to continue flooding their e-mail systems and make your voice be heard. Demand that there be no bonuses – just salaries!

    5. Rupstone Says:

I being fromOhio used to think Dennis was kind of a nut. We don’t see eye to eye on gun rights but, as of this year, if Dennis were from MY district I’d vote for him! He’s shown intestinal fortitude, guts or balls for those of you who don’t know what intestinal fortitude is, in stepping up and demanding Congress act upon his Articles of impeachment and now demanding his staff probe these crooks on Wall Street and it’s associates. Thanks Dennis for representing your people and the poeple of Ohio and the U.S. unlike my crappo Rep in the House John “in someone’s pocket” Boehner, the idiot Sharrod Brown and Mr. “I can be bought” George Voinovich.

    6. Merrie Says:

Aint nobody gonna do a damn thing!
This looting party is all absolutely legal!
Unless some military coupdetat over throws this country and holds military tribunals there is not a damn thing any body can do. The Bush family pulled everybody down and f---ed the world.
As I said before they deserve commendation for pulling it off, what a scam! Aloha MCB

if an investigation is opened, it will result in no hard time for anyone. just another dog & pony show. no offense to Kucinich or anyone else that wants to investigate, but these things are usually put on with a pre-determined outcome.

      # 6 Unfortunately, you are right.
