Law Professor: Counter Terrorism Czar Told Me There Is Going To Be An i-9/11 And An i-Patriot Act

Amazing revelations have emerged concerning already existing government plans to overhaul the way the internet functions in order to apply much greater restrictions and control over the web.

Lawrence Lessig, a respected Law Professor from Stanford University told an audience at this years Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference in Half Moon Bay, California, that “There’s going to be an i-9/11 event” which will act as a catalyst for a radical reworking of the law pertaining to the internet.
Lessig also revealed that he had learned, during a dinner with former government Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke, that there is already in existence a cyber equivalent of the Patriot Act, an “i-Patriot Act” if you will, and that the Justice Department is waiting for a cyber terrorism event in order to implement its provisions.
During a group panel segment titled “2018: Life on the Net”, Lessig stated:
There’s going to be an i-9/11 event. Which doesn’t necessarily mean an Al Qaeda attack, it means an event where the instability or the insecurity of the internet becomes manifest during a malicious event which then inspires the government into a response. You’ve got to remember that after 9/11 the government drew up the Patriot Act within 20 days and it was passed.
The Patriot Act is huge and I remember someone asking a Justice Department official how did they write such a large statute so quickly, and of course the answer was that it has been sitting in the drawers of the Justice Department for the last 20 years waiting for the event where they would pull it out.
Of course, the Patriot Act is filled with all sorts of insanity about changing the way civil rights are protected, or not protected in this instance. So I was having dinner with Richard Clarke and I asked him if there is an equivalent, is there an i-Patriot Act just sitting waiting for some substantial event as an excuse to radically change the way the internet works. He said “of course there is”.

Lessig is the founder of Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society. He is founding board member of Creative Commons and is a board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and of the Software Freedom Law Center. He is best known as a proponent of reduced legal restrictions on copyright, trademark and radio frequency spectrum, particularly in technology applications.
These are clearly not the ravings of some paranoid cyber geek.
The Patriot Act, as well as its lesser known follow up the Domestic Security Enhancement Act 2003, also known as USA Patriot Act II, have been universally decried by civil libertarians and Constitutional scholars from across the political spectrum. They have stripped back basic rights and handed what have been described by even the most moderate critics as “dictatorial control” over to the president and the federal government.
Many believed that the legislation was a response to the attacks of 9/11, but the reality was that the Patriot Act was prepared way in advance of 9/11 and it sat dormant, awaiting an event to justify its implementation.
In the days after the attacks it was passed in the House by a majority of 357 to 66. It passed the Senate by 98 to 1. Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tex) told the Washington Times that no member of Congress was even allowed to read the legislation.
Now we discover that exactly the same freedom restricting legislation has already been prepared for the cyber world.
An i-9/11, as described by Lawrence Lessig, would provide the perfect pretext to implement such restrictions in one swift motion, as well as provide the justification for relegating and eliminating specific content and information on the web.

Such an event could come in the form of a major viral attack, the hacking of a major city’s security or transport systems, or some other vital systems, or a combination of all of these things. Considering the amount of unanswered questions regarding 9/11 and all the indications that it was a covert false flag operation, it isn’t hard to imagine such an event being played out in the cyber world.
However, regardless of any i-9/11 or i-Patriot Act, there is already a coordinated effort to stem the reach and influence of the internet.
We have tirelessly warned of this general movement to restrict, censor, control and eventually completely shut down the internet as we know it, thereby killing the last real vestige of free speech in the world today and eliminating the greatest communication and information tool ever conceived.
Our governments have reams of legislation penned to put clamps on the web as we know it. Legislation such as the PRO-IP Act of 2007: H.R. 4279, that would create an IP czar at the Department of Justice and the Intellectual Property Enforcement Act of 2007: S. 522, which would create an entire ‘Intellectual Property Enforcement Network’. These are just two examples.
In addition, we have already seen how the major corporate websites and social networks are decentralizing and coming together to implement overarching identification, verification and access systems that have been described by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as “the beginning of a movement and the beginning of an industry.”
Some of these major tech companies have already joined efforts in projects such as the Information Card Foundation, which has proposed the creation of a system of internet ID cards that will be required for internet access. Of course, such a system would give those involved the ability to track and control user activity much more effectively. This is just one example.
In addition, as we reported yesterday, major transportation hubs like St. Pancras International, as well as libraries, big businesses, hospitals and other public outlets that offer wi-fi Internet, are blacklisting alternative news websites and making them completely inaccessible to their users.
These precedents are merely the first indication of what is planned for the Internet over the next 5-10 years, with the traditional web becoming little more than a vast spy database that catalogues people’s every activity and bombards them with commercials, while those who comply with centralized control and regulation of content will be free to enjoy the new super-fast Internet 2.
We must speak out about this rampant move to implement strict control mechanisms on the web NOW before it is too late, before the spine of the free internet is broken and its body essentially becomes paralyzed beyond repair.

The best weapon to combat any kind of Internet (or any other information) censorship is encryption. The trick is to not just encrypt the important stuff, but to encrypt everything. While encryption techniques can be cracked, it is time consuming to do so. Imagine an agency spending a significant amount of time cracking some encryption only to find some nice pictures of Fluffy, your cat. By encrypting only the important stuff (as most people do now), it announces exactly which stuff they should be working on.
Another important strategy is to use multiple layers of encryption.

I wrote a paper in 1995 predicting that if the common people of the world were allowed free, unfettered, open access to each other via the Internet it would act as a kind of reverse “Ministry of Truth” and there would be a world wide revolution in 10 years. The WTO protests in 1999 were a positive sign of impending revolution by the commoners. Unfortunately the official “Ministry of Truth” (aka the Mainstream Media) held sway over the opinions and world view of the majority and the revolution never came. Now this great tool, the Internet, is being used to categorize us into pro-government and anti-government “movements” and the governments have used it to identify their enemies. Indeed by writing this I will probably move up the list of “undesirables”.

how do you know if chem trails are n your area? Is it a plane spraying stuff all over or what?
And, has anyone ever followed up and tried to find out where exactly these planes are coming from and what they are spraying and what the supposed reason is? Are farmers being paid by a gov. entity or getting some kind of benefit to do this? I’m assuming the people spraying have no idea what they are really spraying.

For all of you that still don’t know. Chemtrails are very different from norman CONTRAILS (condensation trails) left behind from high altitude aircraft. A normal contrail is caused from the crystalization (freezing) of water vapor. These disappear usually within 7-12 seconds maximum. The chemtrails on the other hand do not break up and dissapate. They leave a nice thick white cloudy stream behind that lasts for hours. This aerosol or cloud eventually settles to the ground where humans and other life forms come in contact with these mystery substances. From all the info I have been able to gather, it seems these chemicals have ill effects on the upper respiratory system as well as the central nervous system. Asthma rates have increased dramatically in my area as well as certain types of cancer.
Keep the sigtings coming folks. I have confirmed chemtrails in seven locations so far today. Google earth shows clear signs of chemtrail activity in Idaho, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky & North Carolina today. Hard to confirm other parts of the country do to cloud cover.

I use to think my Uncle was crazy. He lives on an Island in South East Alaska where it is pretty isolated. He hand built a nice cabin, has no electricy (uses a generator), out door bathroom, grows their own vegtables (can them) and fishes in the summer, and hunts in the winter. He rarly leaves the Island nor does his wife. They have no television, computer…simple life. He did work many years to slowly build this life for himself and his wife, but he did it. He sure seems happier than most. He has no debt either. I guess the less you are involved with the government and corporations, the less strings you have attached and the more freedom you have. Now I think he’s pretty smart.

Alex mentioned on the show yesterday (last night to me, cause I watch the vid when I get home) that the file-sharing networks won’t be affected, so podcasts would still be a viable “samizdat” for us to maintain the revolution. Did anyone notice or catch that comment?
I’m not sure what the significance of that was, but it sounded very confident and expert, as he is in a position to be on the subject.
I breathed a sigh of relief, ie., of consolation-prize relief — that’s a whole lot less scary than a total loss.

Every single person on here has to go post links to this article and video on ALL the major news network websites as well as every single right wing and left wing blog site. We’ll be attacked on the boards for sure but it’s our duty to sound the sirens! I’m sure half of you won’t do it and the other half might only do it once or twice. We have to be relentless or our kids will all be living in the new North Korea!
Listen, this election all comes down to 2 huge and MAJOR issues. 1. The Supreme Court nominees and 2. Net Neutrality. Look at what a McCain win will do if he wins, he’ll end up nominating at least 1 of not 2 or 3 right-wing Christian fundamentalist fascist judges! Say good bye to church-state separation! Say good bye to all our rights! He’s also AGAINST Net Neutrality so you’ll surely see i-9/11 happen under his presidency. I’m not falling all over Obama but he’s for Net Neutrality and as said he will nominate judges that are strict constitutionalists. I do love Ron Paul and everything he’s done but a vote for anyone but Obama right now? It pains me to say that it’s going to put McCain and the neocons back in the White House.

Let us get some geeks together and stop this monstrosity. We have all the technology that we need in order to implement our own search, archival and content delivery system using P2P technologies as well as basic web server platforms.
We must not let them succeed as anyone who has read George Orwells 1984 understands – he who controls the present controls the past. We must fight for a free an open Internet and use the tools at our disposal at the same time to ensure that they can no longer censor the information on the net.

And one more thing I want to add. Last month I brought 50 photocopies of a story from this site to my local supermarket and handed them out as people entered the store (when they exit they have their hands full). I’ll admit I was pretty nervous about handing them out but about 1 in 5 stopped and talked about it with me and probably only 30% refused to take the paper. Most of the open minded people I met don’t even know what a website is! So it’s so important for us to do stuff like this on a regular basis. Make sure it looks neat and readable and also provide some good reliable websites. You’ll be surprised how fast 50 papers get handed out, you’ll be there for less than 30 mins! TAKE A STAND NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!

#67, this needs to get out to the Linux sites and forums because if the i-9/11 is claimed by the criminal government to have originated from a computer running any version of Linux, then they will declare using Linux to be an act of terrorism. Microsoft – the front for the eugenics movement and the Department of Defense – is losing so much business and money these days because of the Windows Vista fiasco, and the eugenicists and Military-Industral Complex ain’t about to allow their baby Microsoft to bite the dust. If the death of Microsoft ever seems imminent, you can probably count on a false-flag attack on the internet which would be blamed on Linux and BSD…..and guess what major competitor to Microsoft has an OS based on BSD Unix? Apple. Soon, using Linux and even Mac OS X will be considered terrorism.

I also agree with earlier posters; chemtrails everywhere spells a lot of problems for us all.

We are headed for a MAJOR BLACKOUT. Both power and Internet will be effected, and blamed on “domestic and foreign terrorists” I can only share some insights that I can not confirm, but the idea is very simple, like Crystal Night, the night when all the Nazi’s broke the glass out of Jewish stores, the attack will take place when communications and power goes down, and the NWO will try and round up as many “resisters” as possible from the top down. They have their lists and targets already drawn up.
When the power goes out —Get out of your house and get mobile. Because when the power comes back on, many of us will be in the KBR Haliburton camps. It won’t last long but will continue. Most of the abuses and arrests will take place while communications and power are off. I reapeat – when the power goes down, get moving!

Insiders (not necessarily the bad kind) know that the military and government apparatus have contingency plans for everything. So a massive freedom-curtailing, Internet-killing legislation plan in the event of an “i9/11″ wouldn’t be surprising. However, in a world of false flag ops and deliberate conspiratorial meglomaniacs we are forced to question whether or not such devices may not only be used against us, but come from within by the hand of our own people.
The answer to that question is obviously yes, absolutely it can. And they (false flag ops) have.
Therefore, if what Dr. Lessig says is true, we should be looking at other alternative resources besides the Internet while simultaneously doing everything we can to preserve and defend it.
Low tech, though it may offend the sensibilities of some of the more technically savvy types, may, in the end, become the salvation and restoration for a renewed and even more powerful Internet of the future.

They may be able to restrict Internet traffic, but they can’t restrict private networks.
What’s needed is for everyone to run a wireless node, which routes traffic through your neighbor’s node, and then through *his* neighbor and so on. In this way, we could still share information regardless of government censorship, and it would be impossible to shut down, because there would be a huge number of possible paths to any destination.
Hmmm… I’ll get to work on it ;o)

I dont want to wake up in 5 or so years to a world where there is no truth. The internet as it is, was no less than the revolution of our generation. This cannot be allowed to happen. I feel lucky to have been alive at this time when everyone has access to information. I dont want to be telling my children and thier children about the internet and have them think about what we had as some sort of myth or fairy tale. Fuck the authorities man. 5 to 1 baby 5 to 1. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN. The government are there to serve us, not the other way around PERIOD.

I like the way you think gizmo. This is serious and the thing is, no one is going to know about it or care for that matter. There will be people that raise hell over this but in the end they will get what they want and this site and others like it will no longer be accessible. Get out there and get active before it is too late. Canvass for libertarian/constitutionalist minded candidates and get these people out of office who make these policies and who vote them in. No more regulations damnit. You cannot solve the internet problem with more regulations. Just remember that when you see articels about internet Neutrality victories and how these new regulations actually make the internet more free, don’t buy into it. BEWARE!!!

I am surprised at the naivety displayed by these people.
Do the American government, and the American people not realise that they do not own the Internet. Do they not realise that they are only 5% of the people on the planet. Do they not realise that Internet is much bigger than America.
The wimps in America might let their government mess with their lives without doing anything about it, but I doubt if the rest of the world will stand by and allow THEIR Internet to be messed with in this way.

I’ve been thinking for awhile something such as internet restrictions for the public or controlled internet by our deceptive leaders was inevitable. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened already. In a world where people’s rights are constantly trampled upon by control freaks with a Luciferian agenda, an i-9/11 or i-patriot act would only make sense on their part. & they will succeed without much of a whimper simply because the general population is oblivious to their true intentions or that these Secret Elites for world domination actually exist. Most people think it’s silly to talk about realities that are ment to harm us because ignorance is a common character trait by choice. Life would be so much easier to live amongst only those with an openmind to things that really matter. These people ( a minority ) who are aware of the dangers in our paths bring me comfort because it gets kind of lonely knowing truths that aren’t very pleasant & most choose to believe the LIE.

Here’s a strange example: Mountain View, CA. They get free wi-fi access from Google. If this is going to be something that happens through, and with the cooperations of ISPs, how would it affect a community like that? Does that mean Mountain View won’t have to use the Internet 2? Or does that mean Google would have to comply. And if so, what is in it for Google? Complete control of something? Which would make sense, if it weren’t for Yahoo! involvement, and not to mention Microsoft with their MSN….
