Lawmakers soften opposition to bonuses

Lawmakers are softening their stance on denying bonuses to employees of bailed-out financial institutions after President Barack Obama warned them against alienating the industry.

The panel was expected to endorse the measure on Thursday, paving the way for a floor vote as early as next week.
The proposal, sponsored by Democratic Reps. Alan Grayson of Florida and James Himes of Connecticut, would not force employees of insurance giant AIG to give back money already paid to them. But it would empower the government to stop future payouts by financial institutions even if employees have been promised the money.
The bill would exempt firms willing to participate in a government-sponsored program aimed at buying up $1 trillion of bad debt, or “toxic assets,” sitting on the books of major banks.

Bonuses are a non-issue. $100 million in bonuses compared to $9.6 trillion (month old figure) in bailouts. END THE FED!

They knew if they pushed back too hard on their masters, there would be bigger problems. It’s all a joke, a ploy. Force the bankers to accept this tax and they crash the market, it’s simple. You can bet your @ss there were threats made to this extent. Nothing changes, it’s all rhetoric. The sheep will go back to the TV and forget all about this. They will hear nothing about it on the corporate owned media channels, nor will they hear about H.R. 1388 or 875 and as far as they are concerned, none the worse for ware.
Intelligent people are planning the back route. They know the demise is here or is coming quick.
Stock food, water and rounds. Have two back up plans and of track routes to safe places in the mountains or woods.
If you have not implemented such actions by now, it’s not too late but you better get off of your @ss.
You also better get in shape. Whatever it takes! You cannot go from a lazy beer drinking couch potatoes and live off the land. You WILL NOT make it for long. Get used to going without. Train your family what it’s like to eat from the cupboard.
The time is now and if it doesn’t happen, you’ll be that much better off. Plan for the worst and hope for the best!

Excellent advice. But I must point out that when the day comes there will be NO safe places, only places safer than where most folks are now. People without a place of their very own in the woods or mountians will have a very hard time. The folks that already live there will view people seeking refuge there as “REFUGEES”. Historically, refugees tend to have very short lifespans. Seek shelter at family owned retreats; farms, cabins, hunting lodges. Even the suburbs are preferable to the city. If that is impossible, harden your home and ride out the storm there. I know that’s not great advice, but living in a tent with a million or so other paniced, ill-prepared people who are most likely armed is NOT condusive to a long life!
It’s time for everyone to drop the Rambo fantasies and REALLY PREPARE!

I agree with the post. I am fortunate to have such a place to go to and others can do the same with a little research.
The “Rambo” fantasies do need to go away. There are also actual scenarios that may happen and not to use a TV show as advise but, Jericho is a great example of how thing’s can be if you live in a tightly knit town. Too bad those are far and few between but the screen play presented in the show is a reality of how thing’s could very well be.
If you haven’t checked it out, you should. Also, it’s been said that it was written by someone associated with the CIA so the probability of what happens in the show happening in real life, is a possibility. They have yanked the show and put it back on here and there for some reason. Being conspiratorial, it may be a sign, who knows anymore adout anything.
The one sure thing is that you need to live a self preserving lifestyle. Something so many have NO idea what to do..

Looks more like a friendly Roast for Geithner.
Barney sets the tone by protecting Geithner any time anyone attacks him.
Funny to hear Geithner admit that the reason for his request IS because the people were raped by predatory habits.
But now our pockets are full, we would like to close the door so others do not do what we just did.
If what was done requires laws to be passed to prevent future theft. What are you doing about the crimes committed that caused the problem?
