Man Detained As Terror Suspect For Photographing Police Car

Despite police claiming that an ambiguous section of the UK Counter Terrorism Act of 2008 would not outlaw taking photographs or film of police, a man was detained as a terror suspect this week simply for taking a photograph of a police car in order to document police misconduct.
62-year-old Malcolm Sleath, who is chairman of his local park society, saw a police car driving erratically down a North London park footpath, despite the fact that by law police are supposed to investigate on foot in such circumstances.
He began filming the police car to document the misconduct so that he could later present it to the chief sergeant.
Sleath was subsequently approached by the two officers in the car and was told he was being detained because he had breached Section 44 of the Terrorism Act.
“(The officer) was clearly embarrassed to be photographed where he shouldn’t have been and wanted to intimidate me,” said Sleath.
Section 44 previously only allowed police officers to stop and search somebody on “reasonable grounds” but that has now been changed and is no longer necessary, leading to an explosion in frivolous stop and search incidents. 44% of complaints made about stop and search allege assault by police officers.

However, the nature of Sleath’s detainment raises questions about whether police were actually enforcing 58A of the 2000 Terrorism Act, a passage replicated in the 2008 Counter Terrorism Act.
As we have previously highlighted, this section contains ambiguous language which suggests that merely filming or photographing police officers is an act of terrorism. When journalist organizations expressed fears that this law could effectively outlaw a huge part of their profession, they were told by PC Alan Cousins of the Metropolitan Police Film Unit that the law would not impede them.
Cousins stated that taking photos of police officers “would not be caught by this offence,” but added that it could be in “exceptional circumstances”.
In London, filming anything is treated as a sign of potential terrorism. We were filming floral tributes left at the entrance to Stockwell tube station where Jean Charles De Menezes was brutally gunned down by police in July 2005. We were approached by a police officer and subsequently entered into the terror database – ostensibly for filming flowers without permission from the government.
Britain has around 4.2 million CCTV cameras – one for every fourteen people – and Big Brother has carte blanche to watch us 24/7 – but woe betide we actually turn the camera back on the authorities, because that makes us a potential terrorist.
Indeed, a recent London Metropolitan Police poster campaign directly implied that filming a CCTV camera was a probable act of terrorism and encouraged people to report anyone for doing so.
The video below shows UK police threatening a man with reprisals for filming them, claiming that it is an offence to record the police. The cops phone the police station and are told that there is no law that forbids the public from filming them. However, this was two years ago, before the recent amendment to the law was passed.

It has already been de-classified that the Gulf of Tonkin “incident” as it was alleged, was a lie. The allegations against Iraq have turned out to be not quite the way they were presented. Taliban and US relations go way back and now Pakistan, once hailed as a great ally to the US in the so-called global war on terror,is being focused on in a different way.

Yes, I see many problems “with that” and no, its not a stretch for me. Too much flag wavin and too many truths & motives are concealed. What happens many times when the US military was used is that new markets were trying to be opened up for so called U.S. “interests”. Notice how that term always pops us to try to justify US bases or military operations overseas; US interests.
US interests to feed the markets and to feed Wall Street and to feed US “government ” investment funds. Look how heavilyt the US governemnt, at all levels , is invested in Wall Street Corporations as well as foreign investments. Do you know how much monet the US governemnts get from taxation as compared to investments; both domestic & foreign? Check it out sometimes if interested.
Its all come back nearly full circle. These invasions were a ways to make money while expanding control; all under the guise of there’s a boogey man out there and life beyond the US borders is full of evils. I never bought it and i never will.
American corporations are part of it sure but, its being played at the International level. It didnt just happen a few short years ago. UCC has alot to do with whats going on and the US is bankrupt. Its not going bankrupt or its not gonna go bankrupt. It IS bankrupt and the boys in the club are puttin the squeeze on to cash in.

Obama surely conned many to donate, people who really thought he would end the wars, but believe me, it’s an impossibility to raise $700 million from small donations alone. You say “look it up”, ok, so im telling you, look up the AVERAGE donation that Obama got, and the AVERAGE donation that Ron Paul got. Also to consider: with all the media coverage Obama got (like appearing 7 times on the frontpage of Newsweek magazine, constant media obsession about Obama being like Lincoln, and on and on) it was easy for him to reach a large number of potential donors. Ron Paul on the other hand, had to have a REAL (without media leverage) grassroots movement to get his $20 million in contributrions (of $40 average).
If the NWO isn’t powerful like you suggest, and Obama ist just a “self made” success story, how come he bought a $9 million dollar home in Hawaii after a mere 2 years as a senator (getting under $200k annually) ? This is just the beginning… If you want to see someone who’s biography has no such “discrepancies”, check out Ron Paul. This guy is one of us common people, thats why he didn’t even make it to Speaker of the House in over 10 years, while Obama is just magically lifted up the ladder from the bottom of a Kenyan village to the very top.

Oh, I agree about Obama by the way. I only voted for him because I didn’t see a viable alternative (Ron Paul was a wasted vote?) and frankly I feel duped by him. He spoke so well and posed as a regular guy who intended to represent regular people. Truth is he is only a regular guy representing the few among us, as usual.
What’s the answer? There’s where we disagree. I don’t condone open revolt against our great country. That would be stupid, and if there is a viable NWO revolt would play directly into their hands. Think about it. Even if revolt was successful, who would represent the “new America”? Alex Jones? Puhlease! The vacuum that would result would lead to takeover or invasion by the Chinese for sure!
The only way to defeat the bad behaviour of our leaders is to ban together. If Alex Jones really wanted to stop this he would start a program dedicated to influencing public policy, elections, etc. I.e, working from within the system. It worked for groups like moveon.org. They held thousands of grass-roots meetings across the land in response to Bush’s BS. Many people believed in their solutions and donated money.
It’s too easy for Alex Jones to make s---loads of money spewing his hatred and negativity. We don’t need that right now. Too many people are vulnerable with the recent job-losses, etc. Jones is trying to ignite the spark that could burn America to the ground, and where will he be when it’s over? Probably holed up in some mansion in Texas. Naw, not good for anyone, especially our children.
All these gun nuts are talkin tough on these blogs, but how will they feel when some of those ‘broken eggs’ are their wives or children? Do they really want civil war or are they just pissed off, aiming their anger in the direction Alex is pointing them? The Nazis proved that it is very easy to inflame an unemployed, broke public plagued with high taxes and job loss. Do we want to repeat their history? I think not.
Hopefully moderate heads will prevail here. I fault Obama for not doing more to assist the unemployed. Like the saying goes, idle minds are the devils workshop. This is why during the last depression, they came up with the WPA. This kept people employed, even if it was doing public works stuff. To me this would be a better use for the billions Barack has given these rich bankers.

It takes a lot of money to operate a business that is also state and federally taxed . Alex Jones provides jobs. They all provide an awesome service to the greatest nation and to all of the world. Alex makes a ton of money in his various business ventures. People willingly hand out his promotional items (movies) that lead people to his websites which are his cash cows. Surprisingly I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I like Alex Jones’ passion. He has a great way of communicating. Very charismatic. However, his approach is very dangerous. He offers no real solutions aside from his constant drum beat promoting violence and armed revolution. This is not the right way. Civil war will not hurt the NWO at all. They would love to see folks fighting each other in the streets. This would allow them to do exactly what Alex is preaching they will do. A weird, self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

Ive left my friends home to walk about quarter of a mile to my own house and it was cold so i was kinda walking fast to get home , by the time i got to the top of the street a police car skidded in front me the officers jumped out treating me like an escaped convict or something , just for walking up the street ! , i could see they where unhappy when they realized id done nothing wrong , but my point is they must have been told to come and check me out from the person watchng me from the cameras all around my town , i also read about this new law that you cant film any police officer , i believe the maximum sentence is ten years in prison , its totally outrageous , and people are just plodding along with there daily lifes oblivious to it all , and still keep voting in the same turkeys year after year .

I hate the cops, although I love the cops who STAND UP FOR CIVIL RIGHTS and OBEY THE LAW.
When I was only 10 years old, a 40+ police officer grabbed me by the ear, lifted me up in the air and slammed me up against a police landrover (military jeep) and started shouting and yelling at my face all because I said “even the dogs dont like you”.
They were driving in a built-up housing estate going 60mph and nearly knocked me and my friend down and killed us, the dogs started barking at them when they came to a halt to arrest a person in a stolen car.

These sort of comments are not helpful. The majority of police officers signed up to defend and protect the public. REMEMBER it is not the lowly payed police officer that makes the laws it is the politician. Police officers don’t get payed much more than your average civilian and also do not always agree with the laws that are passed down to them to enforce. Yet they put themselves in harms way on a daily basis.
In these troubled times I hope that HONEST police officers will defend us against those who seek to harm or enslave the civilian population.
Police officers are also citizens and civilians – They may just be our last best hope. For it is they that will defend us if the Government decided to use the military to attack us.
It is my firm belief that we should support the police in rooting out the bad apples from their patch and protect them from politicians who would seek to use them to suite their own ends.
It is time for us to reclaim our police force from our crooked, corrupt government, to forge a relationship of trust and respect. The police must serve the public rather than politicians and big business. And we (the public) must learn to vent our frustrations at the message maker not the messanger.

That is messed up. Shortly after 9-11-01 I was in a photography class in college. I took photos of all 5 law enforcement locations in the town I was in. I wanted to see if I would be seen as a terrorist. No one confronted me but I had the uncanny feeling of bieng watched. I wouldn’t be surprised if I were on a “list” somewhere.

I was banned from the Prison Planet forum. I didnt cuss anyone, or promote anything illegal. I said
“I want to see investigations, indictments arrests & trials & appropriate punishments for the people who have screwed this country. Anyone who can be clearly shown to have commited treason, they get what is called for in the Constitution, Hanged. Anyone who has defended waterboarding as not torture ( I believe it is torture & see no value in it, BUT,) For those who have defended it, if they are arrested, then let them be interrogated using it.
Now, Ive forgotten the name of the guy who was the Atty. General, dangitt, But, I said His name & did it like Dezi Arnez,’s “Ohh Luucy, you go some splainin to do” His name & Georgiee too.
