[efoods]A group of New York City residents is calling on the U.S. Justice Department to move the venue of the upcoming September 11th terror trials.
The Justice Department decided last year that alleged 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four of his alleged accomplices would be moved from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to stand trial in a civilian court in lower Manhattan.
Now, the local community board that encompasses the area where the courthouse is located is trying to make sure that doesn’t happen.
At a public meeting last night, Manhattan Community Board One heard from outraged New Yorkers who complained the high-profile terror trials will put their neighborhoods in harm’s way, make it hard to get around and turn the borough into a military camp.
