Maria Shriver breaks husband’s cell phone law

A celebrity gossip Web site has caught Maria Shriver a third time apparently violating California’s law against using a cell phone while driving.

Web site TMZ posted a 17-second video Tuesday showing the California first lady apparently speaking into a cell phone while turning a corner in Brentwood in a black SUV. She puts the phone down part way through the video, but it’s not clear whether she did so because she had finished her conversation or because she noticed cameras following her.
The site also photographed Shriver allegedly chatting while driving on Sunday and on June 12.
Shriver’s husband, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, last year supported and signed into law a ban on using handheld communication devices while driving. Enforcement of the ban began July 1, 2008; it carries a $20 fine for a first violation; $50 for each subsequent offense. A similar law banning texting while driving took effect January 1 this year.

Seat belt laws, cell phone laws, texting while driving, speeding and DUI laws have nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with revenue generation.

I have been next to a couple cops that were on cell phones while on duty in their squad cars iin the past months. They obviously believe they are above the law.
Camerafraud dot com, are you high? DUI laws have nothing to do with safety? You’ve obviously never known anyone killed by a drunk driver. I haven’t, but I’ve had to sit through enough briefings with those people as the guest speaker. The laws are for generating revenue, I’ll give you that, but they are also for safety. You don’t have kids, because if you did you would see the psychology in MAKING you be safe with buckling up, and not getting housed and driving. What you are speaking is idiocracy, completely and entirely.

I have seen time and time again people get into accidents or almost cause acciden’ts cause they are talking on there cell phones. So i agree, ban handhelds while driving, either get bluetooth or pull the F over. I bet you’ve almost caused a hand full of accidents and didn’t even notice it.

California State Senator Joe Simitian came up with the the hands free cell phone law. Someone I know drove him to San Francisco Airport. I had to get a blue tooth headset when that law came into effect back in 2008. It’s safest to wear a wired hands free thang and have the cell phone a couple of feet away from the body so the cell phone waves don’t harm the body. The law was a way to raise more revenue for all the the illegals and countless state referendums. California is a police state.
