Mayor Resigns After Controversial Vote To Cut Police Force

OHIO – The village of Mount Sterling soon may be without a mayor.

During a village council meeting Monday night, Mayor Charlie Neff walked out and said he resigned his post.

It happened after Neff was criticized by Councilmember Diane Spradin and members of the public following a council decision to make drastic cuts to its police force.

Council voted to layoff all police officers and dispatchers, with exception to the police chief.
