His memorial is receiving massive coverage and the announcement that his body would be present was considered breaking news. Even Palin’s resignation has garnered more media and internet attention. Though McKinney is safely back on US soil, her wellbeing during her ordeal was of little concern.
As celebrities and media personnel rush to speak about the ways in which Michael Jackson transcended race, the erasure of the plight of McKinney proves that race and gender continue to divide the country.

Real heroes are ignored while the media circus goes on. Is that bass-ackwards or not? I highly recommend turning off the boob tube, finding one of your local police, firefighters, EMT worker or veteran and spending a few $. Take them to lunch and tell them verbally how much you appreciate their sacrifices. They could use the encouragement to keep going in this insane society. Seriously!!!!

He was never convicted and even went to trial where 12 jurors found him “not guilty – 14 times!” Two of the jurors came forward later and said they “changed their minds” and were “doubtful” but were looking for “book deals” (Go Figure!) I admit, the funeral was a bit much and a distraction to real issues and legislation being passed but the man was loved by many and the funeral was a way for closure…As much as Alex rants and raves about the Media “setting people up” and committing “character assassinations,” I would have thought that he might give Michael the “benefit of the doubt” about the so-called charges against him and look a little deeper into Michael’s Anti-Establishment messages in his upcoming tour! Let’s be honest here, he made a ton of money, was against War, Famine, the New World Order agenda and he was an easy target for the allegations that were brought against him. Do what Alex always always preaches but might not always do himself: RESEARCH the facts!

I don’t like U.S. policies on many global dilemmas; I do not support our overreach.

Cynthia McKinney is a stand-up lady. She is certainly one of the most honest and Congresspersons ever to serve. Her hard-hitting questioning of Rumsfeld in 2006 (filmed on CSPAN) was classic. However, I don’t see how the media blackout of her detention in Israel proves our country is still biased on the lines of race and gender, as the author of this article claims. Rather, it only proves the mainstream media refuses to cover anything of consequence. Michael Jackson’s death was like Christmas to them; it provided a huge and valuable distraction from the monumentally destructive climate bill that was passed the same week. Aren’t we all glad that even in the face of tragedy, the same media who coined the term “Whacko Jacko” can still profit from the grief of his family and the abject human spectacle of self-hatred and suffering that he represents?
