Mexican Army takes over customs on US border

An Interior Ministry official said the dismissals were being carried out at all Mexican border facilities, and that the customs agents were being replaced.
Customs agents were sacked after some were found to be linked to contraband operations, according to sources at the ministry.
Agents in Nuevo Laredo, on the border with the southern US state of Texas, were called in Saturday to be told they were fired, and to hand in their badges and weapons. A total of 1,100 agents were sacked, Mexican media said.

Just from all the reading of the comments, and just to let everyone know. I have been in Mexico for the past 6 months now, and will be driving back in a week through Nuevo Laredo, those guns…lol they are carried by all military in Mexico, at least the Federalies here on the Pacific. They have guns that are so much bigger! How I know…They drive up and down the streets in the backs of trucks armed, and the raided my home with my 4 children and dog thinking we were cartel smigglers, they had a mounted machine gun pointed at my front door and 160 SWAT all over my house. I know first hand. I see everyday.

Did you know that the upper classes in Mexico pay just a hair more than half the tax rate that the well off in this country pay? No fan of taxes, but that could go toschools, sewage lines, paying the cops a decent wage to stave off corruption, &improving the infrastructure to attract more int. business….But the rich down there just let off their social pressure by herding their poor up here (mooooo…)…And the rich up here have been more than happy to exploit them (crushing the wages of poor AMERICAN citizens. ). But I bet THEY enjoy having the laws of the land enforced that protect THEIR means & interests…Now watch the crime rate in ATLANTA explode,(now that the building has stopped),as competition for low wage jobs gets fierce.Blame the contractors & other exploiters ,but most of all the city “leaders” who allowed it to happen, even though they knew there were PLENTY of low wage workers in ATLANTA already, but they didn`t like the price.

Did anyone think that those guys may have been fired for not letting enough contraban through? Dirty cops, maybe, but I just can’t reconcile firing Americans, and bringing in Mexicans to man OUR posts. Who is in charge of the border, NOW? How hard will it be to stop illegals NOW? How much more contraban will get through NOW?
Did anyone pause to consider what exactly a PLATOON of .50 cals might be used for? My infantry experience (toting an M-203 in a PLATOON of M-203’s) dictates that only one sniper rifle in necessary for an entire company. Unless that photo is of a graduation parade, all those 50’s together are for wiping out entire groups at a distance. Like Americans, trying to close the border.

Let me float this idea- when they were talking about this whole NAU and the NAFTA super highway, I remember hearing alot of chatter on line about Mexican trucks, and how if they were spotted running American interstate corridors, especially the more remote ones in the lower 48, then the “locals” would be happily disabling the trucks via long-range high power aromour peircing weaponry (ala the Barrett M-82A1). Now there was also chatter about disabling those trucks at or near the border, and although a .50 cal barrett might not be terribly tack driving accurate at 2300-2500 yrds, it would still be very effective at scaring the hell out of less disciplined “snipers” when they passed a shot toward mexican trucks near the border. Further more, a trained sniper unit, even Mexican, would be a real pain in the ass to deal with, especially if they were firing on American civilian snipers from 300 yards inside Mexico. Sound totally far fetched or somewhat close to reality folks?

Yeah, the 50 cal is actually a tad over rated, in personal opinion…. I mean 5 dollars per round… that’s going to get expensive quick. That and the fact that they generally won’t penetrate most tires on military vehicles *all the new troop transports have self sealing, bullet resistant tires*… just seems like we’d be much better off with a good 20mm anti aircraft weapon…

I hope that when people see the title of this article, they don’t think that U.S. customs have been replaced by Mexican authorities. Anyways, I live on the border and I love to go to Mexico and eat good cheap food and get cheaper medication and dental care, but it is sad to see the army there. It has not stopped blood shed or the cartels. I hope americans aren’t afraid to go. The poor people aren’t very strong and the military is obviously from the vietnam era. It is sad knowing that Mexico is so abundant in natural resources. I hope people don’t buy into the stereotypes of Mexico and south Texas. I think we know where the root of these problems are.

I once had DRUGS planted in my car coming back from Mexico. They let me go and I’ve not had any more problems with customs since then. Although I do get flagged to the side.

Greetings from Mexico!!!…Just to let you know…The old customs agents that were replaced, had years in their positions, doing a lot of corruption and extortion….Those guys got old in their positions, making a lot of money by stealing and re-selling seized items. Now they’ve being replaced with 1,400 new agents with ages between 18 and 30 years old, where 3 out of then are women and 71% have a University degree and the remaining 29% have High School…but it seems that the article at the top didn’t said that…..Thanks for the Right of reply!!!…

This is a little more than disturbing ! Why is the Mexican military being used to do a job that American’s could and should be doing !? Is it possible that martial law and or a round up of undesirables is at hand ? Of course we all know that many American soldiers would be reluctant to cary out orders against Americans attemting to escape such an event . It is not likely that the same can be said about the Mexican Military. We have heard much about supposed detainment centers,the possible imposition of martial law and alleged plans for the round up of Americans who are considered a threat and or undesirable to the NWO.To be honest,I find that even thinking about such a possibility causes me to become very anxous,therefore I am always looking for evidence which proves that those predicting an American holcaust are wrong.To be sure I have not found an abundance of comforting evidence;and now this ! Well I do not need to say any more.

Forty years old and I still have a habbit of jumping to conclusions due to not reading entire articles ! I wrote the above blog while under the impression that it was American agents who were canned for corruption.Still though,there is plenty of reason to ponder the real meaning of this event. The canning of 1000 plus customs agents in a single sweep could only have been the result of a huge investigation that would be very difficult to conceal ! I still say that there is something very fishy about this!

I just spoke with a person who works on the border and this is what is going on. The Mexican Army did pull all the corrupt agents off the border, but they were replaced by fresh customs agents who went through a background check and a series of interviews. The Mexican Army did not take over the customs job. They just replaced the corrupt officials with new people.
