Mexican drug violence spills over into the US

Just as government officials had feared, the drug violence raging in Mexico is spilling over into the United States.

U.S. authorities are reporting a spike in killings, kidnappings and home invasions connected to Mexico’s murderous cartels. And to some policymakers’ surprise, much of the violence is happening not in towns along the border, where it was assumed the bloodshed would spread, but a considerable distance away, in places such as Phoenix and Atlanta.
Investigators fear the violence could erupt elsewhere around the country because the Mexican cartels are believed to have set up drug-dealing operations all over the U.S., in such far-flung places as Anchorage, Alaska; Boston; and Sioux Falls, S.D.
“The violence follows the drugs,” said David Cuthbertson, agent in charge of the FBI’s office in the border city of El Paso, Texas.
The violence takes many forms: Drug customers who owe money are kidnapped until they pay up. Cartel employees who don’t deliver the goods or turn over the profits are disciplined through beatings, kidnappings or worse. And drug smugglers kidnap illegal immigrants in clashes with human smugglers over the use of secret routes from Mexico.

I live in El Paso, Tx. It gets worse every year here in our border city. A perfect excuse for martial law maybe and maybe not. Enforcing drug laws and trafficking of drugs needs to be reviewed to better end whatever violence could spill in the U.S. Sending our troops over is not an option, the city is so corrupt now that not even a doctor visit is safe. We get threats in El Paso all the time saying that the cartels will be in our malls and at our bars or clubs. I’m sure they have some kind of operation going on here. Now, as far as the U.S. being involved would be absurd speculate.
The drug cartels in Juarez, Mexico kill people every day. The news is always flooded about how many died but not who died. The killings are always graphic and brutal and for what? Greed? Control? Why would a drug lord or cartel want control over a third world city such as Juarez? Before all of these killings began going across the border was not a problem. Some of the best food and experiences of culture were across the border. Now, We have to travel in fear if we even think about visiting there. The people and citizens of Juarez do not deserve the ugliness this violence has brought upon them.
But I will agree with Merl. Go after the bankers in America first. I believe we should fix our own problems before we focus on trying to help other countries. if the violence ever spreads into El Paso, Texas I for one will be one of the first to call on our elected officials in our Sun City to do something to eradicate the problem. We don’t need that kind of filth in our streets.
How can we help others if we can’ t help ourselves? Not very well.

VIENNA, Jan 25 (Reuters) – The United Nations’ crime and drug watchdog has indications that money made in illicit drug trade has been used to keep banks afloat in the global financial crisis, its head was quoted as saying on Sunday.
Vienna-based UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa said in an interview released by Austrian weekly Profil that drug money often became the only available capital when the crisis spiralled out of control last year.
“In many instances, drug money is currently the only liquid investment capital,” Costa was quoted as saying by Profil. “In the second half of 2008, liquidity was the banking system’s main problem and hence liquid capital became an important factor.”
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime had found evidence that “interbank loans were funded by money that originated from drug trade and other illegal activities,” Costa was quoted as saying. There were “signs that some banks were rescued in that way.”
Profil said Costa declined to identify countries or banks which may have received drug money and gave no indication how much cash might be involved. He only said Austria was not on top of his list, Profil said.

Easy to say. I’m forty miles from D.C., and I don’t protest, not till more people can pull their heads out of their asses in this country. For one, every time I’ve tried to even hand out flyers or information, forget freedom of assembly, without a permit, I don’t like getting pepper sprayed and arrested, for disobeying an order to disperse. Two, I won’t join some big organization that is probably nothing but a big fed slumber party. If the feds are infiltrating Amish Food Co-Ops, you think maybe, they’re right here in the movement? You’ve never been contacted by Homeland Security for rocking a boat? Head on down to D.C., big guy, get a dose of that hard power, with the closed circuit cameras that can pan in from a half mile away, the spotters on the rooftops, or maybe the guys with the mini machine pistols under their black suits, can tail you, track you, and intimidate you for a couple weeks. If you have a hornet problem, you don’t go stick your head in the middle of the nest to see if they sting. Trust me they can and do!

I know of three instances around here, a long ass way from the boarder, where people have encountered armed foreigners of some sort and shots where fired just to secure an escape. I don’t buy that 100%…Their troubles would be lessened if they stopped having so many kids. Think about it. I live in Los Angeles and see these mexican ladies walking around with 10 kids…and of course she’s pregnant again! And I’ll never understand why they can’t speak English. If you live in Mexico, then there’s a pretty good chance you’ll jump the border at some point…why bother learning Spanish to begin with? Shouldn’t their national language be English by now? Makes no sense at all.

To Telsa: Many Americans live in Mexico also. And people are people–many have lived more than 15 years in Mexico and they still don’t bother to learn Spanish.
I am sorry you dislike large families. I have a precious daughter who has been married only once and she is still with her husband. They 9 beautiful children. They are obedient, they do well in school and they happen to be Hispanic. The problem is this: that governments want to control everyone’s life and even destroy the family system that has been on the earth for thousands of years.
My daughter does not receive any aid from the government and is a contributor to the tax funds. My dad, a Mexican, (who later became an American citizen) lost his eyesight in
fire accident in an American car dealership. He never received disability checks. My mother went back to work. He raised me and we never asked for a dime from anyone.
Also regarding English. I believe English will become the world language. Every Mexican child is required to learn English beginning in the 7th grade. Many Mexican journalists now insert English words in every paragraph. Their television commercials are filled with English termniology. The Mexicans are not even aware that their culture is being modified and their languge is being changed. My family background is the following. I had ancestors living in the Atrisco, New Mexico area since the 16th Century. The American flag was not yet flying over the Southwest. They fled to the Guadalupe El Paso area, which is the El Paso of today in the 16th Century because of the so-called Indian uprisings? They moved to and fro from what is now El Paso to Parral, Chihuahua from the 16 to 18th Century. And from 1904 came to the US because the sounds of revolution were resounding in the air.
Many who came in that era were from the wealthier families and had to leave much the same as the Cubans who left Cuba when Castro came into power. There is significant documentation that the Mexican revolution was financed by foreign countries. I am just giving you a small slice of Mexican/American history that you will not be taught in school. If you look at what is happening in mexico with the police and army being infiltrated by the drug cartels, then you will know what is already here but we are not doing anything about it, I have no evidence but if you speak out against the corruption you could be targeted here in california,
with the help of corrupt law enforcement they are capable of putting you under surveillance this is the most frightening feeling since they use the latest in technology to harass you in your own home ever heard of mind molesters transmitters, I was a very outspoken person against the drug violence and would criticize the local police for not taking action against it, well you can believe or not but my entire house was bugged. with these mind molesters and I would have complete strangers trying to argue with me about things I said in the privacy of my own home and what is worse is that I believe they have infiltrated our law enforcement just like they have in mexico.
