Missile Defense: Washington and Poland just moved the World closer to War

The signing on August 14 of an agreement between the governments of the United States and Poland to deploy on Polish soil US ‘interceptor missiles’ is the most dangerous move towards nuclear war the world has seen since the 1962 Cuba Missile crisis. Far from a defensive move to protect European NATO states from a Russian nuclear attack, as military strategists have pointed out, the US missiles in Poland pose a total existential threat to the future existence of the Russian nation. The Russian Government has repeatedly warned of this since US plans were first unveiled in early 2007. Now, despite repeated diplomatic attempts by Russia to come to an agreement with Washington, the Bush Administration, in the wake of a humiliating US defeat in Georgia, has pressured the Government of Poland to finally sign the pact. The consequences could be unthinkable for Europe and the planet.
The preliminary deal to place elements of the US global missile defense shield was signed by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Kremer and US chief negotiator John Rood on August 14. Under the terms, Washington plans to place 10 interceptor missiles in Poland coupled with a radar system in the Czech Republic, which it ludicrously claims are intended to counter possible attacks from what it calls “rogue states,” including Iran.
To get the agreement Washington agreed to reinforce Poland’s air defenses. The deal is still to be approved by the two countries’ governments and Poland’s parliament. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in televised remarks that “the events in the Caucasus show clearly that such security guarantees are indispensable.” The US-Polish missile talks had been dragging for months before recent hostilities in Georgia.
The Bush White House Press spoksperson, Dona Perino stated, officially, “We believe that missile defense is a substantial contribution to NATO’s collective security.” Officials say the interceptor base in Poland will be opened by 2012. The Czech Republic signed a deal to host a US radar on July 8.
The signing now insures an escalation of tensions between Russia and NATO and a new Cold War arms race in full force. It is important for readers to understand, as I detail painstakingly in my book, to be released this autumn, Full Spectrum Dominance: The National Security State and the Spread of Democracy, the ability of one of two opposing sides to put anti-missile missiles to within 90 miles of the territory of the other in even a primitive first-generation anti-missile missile array gives that side virtual victory in a nuclear balance of power and forces the other to consider unconditional surrender or to pre-emptively react by launching its nuclear strike before 2012. Senior Russian lawmakers said on Friday the agreement would damage security in Europe, and reiterated that Russia would now have to take steps to ensure its security.
Andrei Klimov, deputy head of the Russian State Duma’s international affairs committee, said the deal was designed to demonstrate Warsaw’s “loyalty to the US and receive material benefits. For the Americans, it is an opportunity to expand its military presence across the world, including closer to Russia. For NATO, this is an additional risk…many NATO countries are unhappy with this, including the Germans and the French.”
Klimov called the agreement “a step back” toward the Cold War.
Russian response
The US plans to deploy a radar in the Czech Republic and 10 interceptor missiles in northern Poland as part of a US-controlled missile shield for Europe and North America, has been officially sold under the ludicrous argument that it is against possible attacks from “rogue states,” including Iran. Last Spring then Russian President Vladimir Putin exposed the shallowness of the US propaganda line by offering a startled President Bush that Russia would offer the US use of Russian leased radar facilities in Azerbaijan on the Iran border to far better monitor Iran missile launches. The Bush Administration simply ignored the offer, exposing that their real target is Russia not “rogue states like Iran.” Russia rightly views deployment of the US missile shield as a threat to its national security.
The latest Polish agreement advances a Russian response.

Russian officials earlier said Moscow could deploy its Iskander tactical missiles and strategic bombers in Belarus and Russia’s westernmost exclave of Kaliningrad if Washington succeeded in its missile shield plans in Europe. Moscow also warned it could target its missiles on Poland.
Russia is also discussing to put in place an orbital ballistic missile system in response to US missile defense plans for Central Europe, according to a senior Russian military expert.
“A program could be implemented to create orbital ballistic missiles capable of reaching US territory via the South Pole, skirting US air defense bases,” said Col. Gen. Viktor Yesin, former chief of staff of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces, now vice president of the Academy of Security, Defense and Law Enforcement Studies.
Previously as part of the post Cold War agreements with the US, agreements which have been ´significantly ignored by Washington as it pushed the borders of NATO ever closer to Moscow’s doorstep, the Soviet Union had abandoned such missiles in accordance with the START I Treaty.
Obama backs missile defense too
The deal would further divide European countries into what Barack Obama’s foreign policy adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski calls openly, US “vassals” and those pursuing more independent policies.
Any illusions that a Democratic Obama Presidency would mean a rollback of such provocative NATO and US military moves of recent years should be dismissed as dangerous wishful thinking. Obama’s foreign policy team in addition to father Zbigniew Brzezinski, includes Brzezinski’s son, Ian Brzezinski, current US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Affairs. Ian Brzezinski is a devout backer of US missile defense policy, as well as Kosovo independence and NATO expansion into Ukraine and Georgia.

The timing of all of this and the ramifications brewing really gives gravity to the rumoured national emergency needed to suspend the elections per the Patriot Act.
When Russia counter this move, as the neocons seem to be banking on, look for mutual “shock & awe”.

Government feign love and committment to their citizens. How else would we trust them to rule over us?

Well, I know I said before I was disappointed with Poland, however, it is a defensive shield.
I don’t understand how anyone can compare this to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
We aren’t putting Nukes in Poland, we are putting defensive missiles in Poland. Every country has a right to defend itself against aggressors, and anyone that knows a little Polish History knows that Russia has tried (and succeeded) numerous times to eliminate Poland.
Poland could also come out and then say, “By Russia not destroying its nukes, we feel that it is an act of war”

Not to side with the Ruskies … but, what was our (US) reaction to Russia placing missiles in Cuba? We nearly went to nuclear war over the deal! Hell, we still have an embargo against Cuba.
So, fast-forward to the present … US (NATO) is placing missiles along Russia’s border — something that has been on the “things to do list” for over a decade — is basically one and the same as the Bay of Pigs incident. So, this is an act with an ANTICIPATED reaction, which means that Russia is left “with no other choice, but to…” all the while we (US) will make them out to be horrible for protecting their border and interest in securing their people — a main function of any government: securing the borders, but one that seems foreign to our own!

The missle interceptors themselves are a good thing… until you realize that by blowing up the ICBM with a conventional explosion you spread all of that un-reacted highly radioactive nuclear material into the upper atmosphere to be dropped on every country in the world. Then you factor that in addition to the interceptors it’s likely that nuclear tipped cruise missiles will be snuck in for a possible launch on Russia and the whole thing just starts to sound like the single worst idea ever.

Well in all fairness…I just osted a few months ago on this site where US assisted Russia in launching a satellite for them regarding their anti ballistic missiles so as far as I see it , Russia is no saint or is no different than poland in this regard so what are they complaining about. Just cuz mainstream media did not tell it does not mean that those of us who paid attention don’t know who is in bed with whom.

I grew up in the 80’s during the height of the cold war; people were terrified of nuclear war but there was balance.

Well, well, I’ve read a lot of sermons on this thread tonight, mostly secular sermons. Some of it I agree with. I agree that we should have separation of church and state–the Baptists thought so too when they wrote their letter to Thomas Jefferson asking that he maintain such a separation. Jefferson’s letter of reply to those Baptists is famous–he assured them that he would try to maintain such a wall of separation. That was back when the Baptists used to be beat upon for their beliefs, and they had some idea of the importance of separation of church and state. Now, it seems they have forgotten that lesson. They have become fat and sassy and in a majority. They join with all the others Christian groups and other religions trying to force government and religion together–it won’t work.
However, that being said, I can make a case for the horrors the secularists have wrought upon our world. It is mad scientists who believe in evolution (the missing link kind), who believe we are nothing but an amalgamation of DNA and are nothing more than animals without souls who see nothing wrong in exploiting their fellow man as he would track down a fox and take it’s skin for a coat. He thinks nothing of harvesting organs of human beings for profits. If he has no God to answer to, all things are possible for him. After all, there is no punishment when he dies. He can live to the fullest here and now and do as he pleases. In fact, if you will recall the scientific (psychology) experiments where a guy in a white lab coat asked people to increase electric shocks to a victim (an actor) because they were ordered to by someone in authority (white lab coat), the only person to refuse was a preacher. Imagine that. All the others did as they were told, thinking they were delivering real electrical shocks to real victims–causing them excruciating pain, they thought–even to the danger of death level and while the “victims” begged for relief. They followed authority blindly. Only the preacher answered to a higher authority and said “no, this is wrong.” When the “scientist” demanded that he deliver the shocks, he told them angrily, that he answered to God and to no man. This is a matter of fact.
In Red China the government is proud of its atheism. It does not mind shooting prisoners in the head and harvesting their body organs. Are we to believe that the red man is so different from us because of his “redness?” Or could one’s belief system play into this? If the Chinese man thought that God would punish him for treating his fellow man so abjectly, would he be as likely to see him just as a piece of meat as no better than a cow to be slaughtered and his organs put to good use? The soldier who revealed the photographs of torture in American Iraqi prisons did so out of religious convictions. He knew it was wrong to torture prisoners. He learned that much in Sunday school.
So, there are people whose beliefs in God have caused them to be bigger and better than those around them, while there are those who are supposedly well educated and are nothing but smarter devils for all of their education. Therefore, it seems simple to dismiss people of faith as the cause of all the troubles of the world. It simply does not hold up.

Correct me I’m wrong, but doesn’t the missile defense system vaporizes the warheads and thus does not cause a real nuclear explosion (I’m sure there will be some radiation), so no EMP. How many missile sites do they have in total? Because I’ve heard mainstream news propaganda I mean arguments against Russian ‘paranoia’ which basically said the sites are not enough to stop a total nuclear exchange with Russia, i.e. total nuclear holocaust. The fact that Russia has nuclear submarines gives credence to this argument. The missile defense system is not meant for Russia, but for “rouge states.”
For Russia this is directly within their sphere of influence, they definitely have a stake in this – to defend any encroachment into their territory.
Still, I’m sure there is something sinister going on. This is definitely a NWO game. Why can’t they just stay out of each others business? WTF?

Not many people know, that polish citizens disagree with Washington-Warsaw path of resolving “conflicts”. 56% out of us, 38mln habitants are afraid of war with Russia, as if we didn’t have the Big Red brother paws in recent years on our soils. As the Nazi Germans left our country in ‘45, the new power replaced their duties. Communism surged through our houses until Jaruzelski announced Martial Law in December 1981. God bless him for that, otherwise we’d speak russian today or be probably dead.
We had our best years in post war times from 1990 until 1997 while on Lech Walesa presidency, but only after Kwasniewski replaced him and got into hands of puppet-master Washington, things started going pretty odd. We got into, EU, NATO, got our constitution changed in 1997 (first time after WWII), but it didn’t change our political relationships with our neighbors. Germany, the always hated aggressor, Czech rep and slovakia -your nearest neighbors who you can’t count on, whole eastern front-totalitarian post communist countries, who isolated themselves from us.
We’re a very big and proud country of people who are wise, and conscious of their identity. Very pity though that a pack of imbeciles represent us in our parliament. Their decision forced us to scatter all around the US, west Europe, Scandinavia and Mediterranean in looking for bread. And now in addition not only did we helped Washington rapers of transferring falsely accused of terrorism innocent people by allowing CIA planes landing in Szymanowice, but also now allowing to have missile defense system to piss off our could-be best allie possible, Russia. US government are playing their desperate drums of helping themselves staying on their chairs sacrificing everything and everyone who they can only use to. In the end, the forces of Russian and Chinese Army will no longer stay aside and watch US plus Sarkozy-like EU predators barking through the whole planet Earth and spitting on everything that moves not the right way they wish to.
I think in a very long time U.S. wasn’t remembered that they are not the super power anymore, and things have changed. They will fall, they will lose, and justice will win, just wait. GOD how could anyone even suggest this. Jaruzelski was a Russian puppet directly taking orders from Moscow. The martial law was called in response to the population resisting Russian assimilation by forming the solidarity movement. Jaruzelski was ordered by Moscow to crush the revolutionaries so he called martial law and started cracking down on protests and got the secret police to beat, assault and murder members of the freedom movement.
RUSSIAS face is not pretty. they want to conquer and destroy. they are the big evil. Accusing the US and Poland of bringing the world close to war is Russian propaganda. Russia wants Poland defenseless so it can overtake the country sometime in the future. the real balance of power is that Russia holds free europe hostage threatening total annihilation from its nuclear arsenal.
