Mississippi Passes Legislation Protecting Gun Owners During Martial Law

Mississippi lawmakers have passed a bill to protect the state’s residents during martial law. On the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi website, Phil Bryant announces the passage of SB 2036. The legislation “restricts the power of a peace officer to confiscate firearms and ammunitions in an emergency or during a time of martial law,” according to the website.

It is significant that Lieutenant Governor Bryant mentions the law applies to martial law.
Mississippi senator Merle Flowers authored the bill and referred it to the Judiciary on January 6. It passed the Senate on February 4. According to the Mississippi bill status website, the act amends Section 33-7-303 of Mississippi Code of 1972 and “explicitly restrict the power to confiscate firearms and ammunitions in an emergency.”
Mississippi passes the law reaffirming the Second Amendment at approximately the same time a number of states are introducing and passing resolutions and bills declaring sovereignty from the federal government and buttressing the Tenth Amendment.

Two things:
1) First, I’d be wondering if Mississippi is PLANNING on martial law, since their Lt. Governor obviously seems to know something that most Mississippians apparently don’t know.
2) What “restrictions” does the bill make, exactly? Given that the term “restriction” doesn’t mean the same thing as the word “prohibition,” which is the term that SHOULD have been used. If this bill really is intended to “protect” gun owners, then it should PROHIBIT the confiscation of guns, not merely “restrict” it. To restrict it implies there are some reasons for confiscation that are allowed, while some others are not, or that the reasons for confiscation have certain limitations placed upon them.

I’m there, Ben. Got my tactical shotgun and plenty of ammo and I’m not wasting any ink filling out tax returns anymore, either. READ THE BILL that Mississippi intends to pass. IT IS A FARCE!
Consider these provisions contained in the bill:
Section 1.2(i) [No one can] Confiscate a firearm from a person unless:
2. The firearm is confiscated by a peace officer who is acting in the lawful discharge of duty and under the reasonable belief that the confiscation is necessary for the protection of the peace officer, the person carrying the firearm, or a third party. The peace officer shall return the firearm to the person before discharging the person unless the officer arrests that person for engaging in criminal activity or seizes the firearm as evidence pursuant to an investigation for the commission of a crime [].
Section 3(b) In performing his duties under this article, the Governor is further authorized and empowered:
(1) To make, amend and rescind the necessary orders, rules and regulations to carry out the provisions of this article with due consideration of the plans of the federal government, and to enter into disaster assistance grants and agreements with the federal government under the terms as may be required by federal law.
Do you see? The bill essentially says, “The state cannot take your guns, but reserves the right to take them if it wants too.” They are trying to sucker you into feeling safe and that the state is on your side. Now go back to sleep . . . everything is going to be all right . . .

Exactly as I called it! The use of the word “restrict” was the tip-off for me, in the article above. When the Lt. Gov. said the bill would “restrict” confiscations few people picked up on the subtle difference between a “restriction” and a “prohibition” and immediately took it to mean their guns were safe from seizure during martial law (which is pretty idiotic, if you think about it, given the nature of martial law). If the Lt. Gov. had truly intended to protect gun owners from confiscations, he would have used the term “prohibit” instead of “restrict,” which would have meant there would be no confiscations at all. As it is worded, the state is reserving its power to decide what restrictions it will place upon itself. As always, governments never voluntarily relinquish their power.

I am all for State’s rights and the Bill of rights, etc. but if you guys think that having firearms is going to save you against a militarized police force or actual military brigades you are literally crazy. Empowering the States and local police is our only hope against such an infringement.

I agree that organization on the state level is needed but history has shown that a handful of dedicated men and women with a sparse supply of weapons can punish a superior enemy force and demoralize them to the point of them giving up out of frustration and fear.
You can’t kill what you can’t find. The idea isn’t to meet a superior conventional fighting force head on…You do what the Roman General Fabius Maximus did to Hannibal’s huge army…You hit it when they least expect it then you bug out. You keep up the pressure and hit them from different directions and in different places at the same time then disappear again.
Insurgents, if trained well, having the fortitude and courage and a commitment to never stop until the invading/usurping enemy is destroyed, cannot be defeated.

The states and police have too much power as it is. The politicians have a vested interest in keeping power and it’s rare to find any that will give it up. You’re right about one thing though. If anyone is deluded enough to think that ANY militia can stand toe to toe against a modern army/plice force you’re deluded. The key is a lesson learned by the founders and relearned throughout history, small scale cells and guerrilla warfare. Resist any way you can but don’t throw away your life. Well,’Long Time coing”, whatever the hell that means, no, I’m not the monitor of this forum, and it’s not about multi-tasking either. It’s an article about the state of Mississippi defending their citizens against a declaration of Martial Law by the federal government. It would be nice to read what others have to say about this issue, but you and others seem to want to talk about something else. I suggest that if this sort of thing is so important to you, that maybe you should start your own blog where anyone can come and talk about anything and everything that doesn’t make sense, since that is what you are doing right now. I seriously doubt whether you truly understand the meaning of paranoia, since you’re using the term without the proper application of it’s meaning. As for walking and chewing gum, I’m pleased to see that you have acquired the necessary number of brain cells to perform both functions at the same time. As for reality, you seem to be suffering with one of America’s most widespread diseases called COGNITIVE DISSONANCE. That’s the inability to recognize and accept the truth when it conflicts with your preconceived notions of reality. Do you have a drug or alchohol problem. It sounds like you have trouble holding the moment. I’ve been around a very long time and have many experiences with the government, none of which makes me ‘paranoid’. However, my experiences have taught me that the government, regardless of their stated intentions have absolutely no desire or inclination to tell the truth about anything. Why should they, since knowledge is power and the more knowledge that ‘they’ have and the less knowledge ‘we’ have puts them in a position of power over us. I didn’t see anything in the article about ‘nazi-like goons’ attacking Americans minding their own business. Here again, you change the subject. As for the term’ weirdos’ if you’re looking for the correct definition of the word then you need go no further than your bathroom mirror. Not really “long time”.. people get missing pieces of their “puzzles” as they see fit. what you see as mundane might make a difference to someone who’s just becoming aware. Everyone has a threshold of tolerance. For some it’s puppies in puppy mills and organized dog fights.. for others it’s bums getting beat on the street. Everyone has a tipping point of tolerance when it comes to certain crimes against humanity. The point of this place is that most of the people have reached that point (doesn’t matter why) and they express themselves based on what makes them tick. I think people are just starting to become aware of all things that piss them off and they want the underdog to win.. because they are the underdog now. This thread is about gun laws.. yes.. but it’s also about what made people want that right. We want to protect ourselves for different reasons. What threatens me may not threaten you. We just don’t want crime usually.. and we don’t trust the cops to protect us.. in fact we are starting to realize that cops may really want to harm us. That’s a hard thing to admit and to say.. so its easier to say you’re pissed for some other reason. It’s really difficult to come to the realization that the people who are supposed to protect our laws are the ones who are commiting the crime. Alex isn’t saying the President can legally suspend the Constitution. He is saying that, effectively, the executive orders signed into “law” by Bush have illegally given that authority to the President. That is simply acknowledging a fact. It is not an endorsement of what is being done.

Learn to read between the lines. What this bill does is NOT protecting gun owners at all. Like the Supreme Court’s recent “decision” (which they had no constitutional authority to render), it creates a loophole for the government to selectively confiscate guns. See my post above, in which I have pointed out there is a difference between a “restriction” and a “prohibition.” If the law makers of Mississippi were truly trying to protect the gun owners of Mississippi, the bill would PROHIBIT confiscation of guns, not merely restrict it. Restrictions only imply that there are some things the government reserves the authority to do. It is a slick way of creating selective enforcement while creating the illusion they are “protecting” the people’s Second Amendment rights. This is what the Supreme Court did last summer when it said we all have a personal right to own firearms WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITATIONS. What this means is that they have reserved for themselves the authority to decide what is “reasonable” and what those limitations are. The use of the term “restriction” does the same thing. It is an open-ended bill that, if enacted, would give the Governor of Mississippi the authority (not the right, for no such right exists under the constitution) to declare that guns CAN be confiscated under certain conditions, to be defined by himself or some other authority.

No, you won’t. What this bill would actually do is leave it up to the state of Mississippi to decide what “restrictions” apply to their confiscation of firearms. If the intent was truly to prevent the confiscation of guns, then the law would PROHIBIT, not merely restrict, the confiscation. This is verbal sleight of hand. Don’t let the slick bastards fool you.

Mississippi hasn’t done anything positive in this. The use of the word “restrict” is being used to fool those with little or no discernment into believing they are going to prevent gun confiscations. In fact, the way it is worded, this bill can be interpreted to mean that the government of Mississippi can define what restrictions apply – and note that they haven’t stated what those restrictions are. If their true intent was to protect gun owners in the event of martial law, the bill would say it flatly PROHIBITS the confiscation of guns. Period.

During Katrina martial law was declared and the gov. announced that we had the right to defend ourselves and protect our property with deadly force if necessary. Our gov. isn’t likely to take our guns away during a declaration of martial law. We were the best deterrent during an emergency.

This isn’t good news any more than the Supreme Court’s proclamation that we have the right to keep and bear arms WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITATIONS. It essentially does the same thing; i.e., it turns our constitutionally protected right into a government-granted privilege. Mississippi will, if they pass this into law, be able to determine what restrictions – if any – they wish to place upon gun confiscation. That means they can still confiscate guns, WITHIN REASONABLE LIMITATIONS. Get it?

We must FORCE the leadership of this country to be not only accountable, but also OBEDIENT SERVANTS to We The People.
One by one we must chop down the enemy like faggot trees saplings that think they are mighty oaks. Just remember one fact, that without their institutions they are far less than most individuals on a one to one basis. They live in a non-reality and play God games with our money and our minds and this is insane!!! I seriously doubt there one of them, that any good man or woman totally whip in just about any category of competition, from the gym to rolling in the sack. That’s why they enrolled into the institutional jobs, because without an institution to back them up they have no spine. Think about what I am saying and I know what I am talking about from experience.
I worked in industry with many of these types right after my college days. Those nearest the bottom always had trouble holding down a good job and caused most of the company screw ups. I watched them go to work for the state and Fed and remember and still know some of them and they are still loosers one on one, but they have moved up into high places feeding like bugs in their institutional hives. Their only value comes from their infestation and empowerment of their expanding institution and it is really a scary thought to realize they now attempt to control our lives, careers and whatever else they can gain control over.
If any of them tried to do your job, it would immediately be revealed they got NOTHING to bat with. That’s why they joined the system, to acquire far more than they are worth and we ought to start weighing them INDIVIDUALLY, for the true dickless pencil necks that they are and always will be. Watching their promotions as such, is really like a dream come true for them, like Queen For A Day or something. It’s really pathetic and more people should open their eyes.
Just look a Pelosi, in reality she could not run a McDonalds if her life depended on it, but she is Speaker Of The House. This is pathetic as it gets and the average determined housewife has got lots more and that’s a fact!

They pass these laws with what intend? Please don;t tell me it’s for good of the people. You always have to think of another possibility. It’s possible that they are looking at a civil unrest, maybe revolution. People with guns will fight each other first. Then government seeing much slaughter will pass a new bill authorizing confiscation. The second wave will begin with public fighting the martials and army. The result will be a lot of dead people which benefits the idea of depopulation. Smart ones will have guns, keep quiet and only use them in case of absolute emergency. Most people are too stupid to realize that and will get themselves killed in the first or second wave of civil unrest.

I remember, me and my buddies thinking we were immortal. When the Brass talked about casualties I felt really bad for all those poor bastards that were going to buy the farm but it never dawned on me that I or my buds would be among ‘em. If you want to be a warrior get real with what it means. I hope to God that war NEVER comes to our country, it’s an awfull terrible thing. Not just killing and burning of innocent people but real starvation, real old people and kids dying from hunger, disease and exposure. But if it needs to happen then let them start it and have the blood on their hands. It ain’t a movie. Why is it that every one of these threads has the same rude people having the same rude arguement? I know most people see through the intentional distraction.
It is a shame that states have to pass laws that reinstate the rights that were already created when the declaration of independences and the US constitution were signed and enacted. Any law that restricts these foundational document rights is by definition an illegal law. I hope more citizens take to the streets armed with guns and yellow vests and hand out food and water and medical supplies in the aftermath of any event or situtation where FEMA is likely to stick their noses. If a hurricane is coming to your home town… DON’T LEAVE. Stay in place and help those less able to help themselves. Calling all boyscouts. BE PREPARED.

All of you who believe this is “good” news have failed to read between the lines. The use of the word “restrict” does NOT mean they will prevent gun confiscations. It simply gives the government the authority to decide for itself what “restrictions” it will impose upon itself. If they operate like we’ve sen them doing all across the nation, so far, you can expect them to place few, if any restrictions upon their gun grabbing. This is simple subterfuge to get the people to believe their government is on their side when, in fact, it is not.
To put it another way, if the government had your interests in mind, they would repeal all gun laws, as these are all in flagrant violation of the Second Amendment. THAT would prevent gun confiscations, not making more laws. Making more layers of laws that stipulate what we may or may not do with our property and to defend our own lives does not serve our interests. It serves only the state.

By simply being alive, the power is granted to us to defend our lives.
All the constitution has ever done is provide a way to circumvent the very statutes that it supposedly upholds.
By simply putting on paper our “God given Rights”, that act has created a way to limit those rights at the discretion of a select few.
Do not forget that most of the framers of the constitution were masons.
There was not then, nor is there now, any intent on the populous being truly free.
The system was hijacked from the start.

Jason, you are a fool trying to fool others, this law that my state of Mississippi has passed, is a ruse, you have to read between the lines, this law is no more effectual than the formerly free state of Illinois constitution, section 22, which is written stronger than the second amendment, BUT, they use a ruse called police power to absolutely mitigate the right of those dupes to bear arms, that is, the maggot police can steal weapons at will because they use the subterfuge that the police has usurped the citizens need to self defense, this lie is the basis for the genocidal murder of 55.9 million people by their own governments in the last century alone! Cool it with the animated GIF’S. All these stupid animated GIF ads on this entire web site are annoying, scrolling, rolling, blinking, blinking and blinking billboards. It slows down and interrupts the navigation throughout this entire site. Plus it makes you look like a cigar chompin’ carny. Why don’t slap one on here that looks like a neon sign that says “Eat At Joes”. I wouldn’ t like at these ads any more so. They are a waste space and time.
I’m not the only one that is complaining. I hear this from other colleagues that tell me the same, and, I’ve been at this advertising and marketing communication biz for decades, I’ve worked on many major web sites – so I know what I’m comfortable with what I am saying.
Your bottom line is that it ruins the appeal of just getting down to business and reading the data you have toiled endlessly to have on here. Who needs it? So what’s the purpose? I’ll just go to Rense.com or elsewhere.

It’s a shame that my message keeps getting deleted about this Mississippi Bill, its important and it needs to be seen. Some of these other message that are posted here are good but when I see people saying stuff like “When martial law gets declared there moving to Mississippi”
That’s a sad statement because if you read the Bill from pages 4-10, they will quickly see that moving to Mississippi is not a good ideal.
I support Alex Jones and the movement, but if yall keep deleting the message people are going to be mislead into thinking Mississippi is going to let these people keep there guns.
The Bill is misleading final warning, the Mississippi No confiscate firearms Bill is a Bill that makes people think they will not take there guns away then set them up for failure. People don’t understand that if the Govnor declares martial law then they won’t take your guns according to the Bill, the loop hole in the Bill is that it is a differance between the Govnor call martial law and the President calling martial law. If the Govnor calls martial law your guns are safe, but if the President calls martial law your gun are gone the Govnor is working for the President.
The problem that comes into play is if you stand up when they come to your house and you in your mine thinking that they won’t take your guns because you are protected by that so-called Bill and come to fine out after they have took your guns and dragged you and your family off to a FEMA concentration camp that the President had called martial law and the Govnor had resended his amendments and you have been betrayed with a kiss by the good oh Mississippi State Government.
You people better take heed if you plan on coming to Mississippi, I live here I know they are crooked and they are tryind to trick you with words I have been a cop here for years and I know they are not right they are trying to trick you.
