More Evidence of U.S. Complicity in S. Ossetia Invasion

As the corporate media in the United States covers volleyball at the Olympics in China and pours endlessly over the marital infidelity of CFR darling John Edwards, the media in Russia is reporting the war in South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Earlier today, RIA-Novosti’s Russia Today TV broadcast a report detailing possible U.S. involvement in the conflict. Eduard Kokoity, the president of South Ossetia told Russia Today Ukrainians and mercenaries from the Baltics as well as nationals from other countries were involved in the fighting, as “foreigners have been found among their bodies.” Dmitry Medoev, the South Ossetian envoy to Russia, confirms this claim. “In yesterday’s most recent tank attack, the advancing tanks were supposedly crewed by Ukrainians. Two unidentified bodies found today are said to be black, possibly they are Americans, but we can’t say for sure yet.”
Russia’s Daily Online newspaper, Kommersant, also reported the presence of foreign mercenaries:
Authorities in the unrecognized republic of South Ossetia claim that dark-skinned mercenaries took part in the attack on Tskhinvali, reports RIA Novosti, citing representative of the South Ossetian president in Russia Dmitry Medoev. He said there were bodies of many Georgian soldiers on the streets on Tskhinvali. “There were blacks among the dead, who were probably either mercenaries or instructors in the Georgian armed forces,” Medoev said.
South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity had said earlier that mercenaries were fighting with the Georgian forces. That information has not been confirmed in Tbilisi.
Last month, the United States, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Ukraine conducted Immediate Response 2008, a joint training exercise said to be in “spirit of the NATO Partnership for Peace program,” according to Blackanthem Military News. Immediate Response 2008 was held at the Vaziani Military Base in Georgia.
In another report, a woman interviewed by Russia Today in Tsknivali, South Ossetia, talked about the presence of Georgian troops with American insignias. “There are lots of bodies over there, a lot of people have been killed, mostly Ossetians, but also Georgians, they had American emblems on their forearms and they were in black uniforms,” she said.
Black uniforms are a trademark of Blackwater and DynCorp mercenaries (see Chris Hedges, America’s Holy Warriors). DynCorp’s presence in Eastern Europe is well documented, particularly in occupied Bosnia where it engaged in sex-trafficking and prostitution.
In a Friday press conference, Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Security Committee Vladimir Vasilyev said without U.S. aid, Tbilisi would have been unable to start military operation in South Ossetia. “The further the situation unfolds, the more the world will understand that Georgia would never be able to do all this without America,” said Vasilyev. “In essence, the Americans have prepared the force, which destroys everything in South Ossetia, attacks civilians and hospitals.”
It is entirely feasible the U.S. has “prepared the force” with mercenaries as well.

The bear has awakened… looking at the current global situation; the last thing the west want is a confrontation with Russia, unless this is all very well planned by the neo-cons to get their martial law…. things look very bleak at the moment.
What is more dangerous is our Media coverage which has been completly biased about this conflict. It’s not good to not inform people, it’s even worse to misinform people, the BBC is full of lies and so is the Georgian Goverment. And I think if we follow the lies we’ll find the Zionists at the end of that road….

Now this article makes alot of sense to me after reading that. Seems like the U.S. want to escalate this conflict to keep the Russians busy while the bomb Iran, as Russia said; an attack on Iran will be an attack on Russia.

The Russians are going to run tests on the black bodies to determine if they’re Americans. That should help to expose the US involvement in this provocation.
If they are running blood tests perhaps there are specific signatures of drugs used for inoculating US military troops or they may use the Human Genome database info to determine the men’s haplotypes with African American markers. The story didn’t indicate what, if any clothing or equipment may have been found on the bodies…oh wait, I FORGOT THE MICROCHIPS!!! Yes, that will be it.

Of course, Russia knows that a Georgian victory would be an American one. It would allow the US to control the Caucasus and the Caspian Basin and their enormous energy resources through the assertion of its military power in the region.
The United States and other NATO members have sent substantial aid to build up Georgia’s army. The American military has been training and equipping Georgian troops for years. At least 130 US soldiers, Marines and pilots are in Georgia to carry out a program, called Exercise Immediate Response 2008, on military cooperation.
Georgia returned the favor, by sending about 2,000 troops to participate in the occupation of Iraq, which made it the third-largest contributor to “coalition forces” after the US and Britain.
Georgia is also aggressively lobbying to join NATO and is supported by the United States in this goal. At the NATO summit in Bucharest in the spring, US President George W. Bush made one of the stronger speeches of his tenure, stating that the 26-member alliance should accept Georgia and Ukraine.
“We must make clear that NATO welcomes the membership aspirations of Georgia and Ukraine and offers them a clear path forward towards that goal. My country’s position is clear: NATO should welcome Georgia and Ukraine into the Membership Action Plans”, he said.
However, Germany and France argued against this. Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, said that a new NATO expansion would annoy Russia too much. Bush tried hard to change the German and French position at the summit but he failed.”

As an American, I have friends in both Russia and Georgia. Last summer tensions were high in Georgia and the people were concerned with US involment. It’s possible this is a proxy war between Georgia and Russia. The key issue is again resources i.e. oil. How sad it would be if hired hands started the war. This is a serious issue. If it was in fact a first strike into Russia, what can they expect the reply would be? Meanwhile those who had nothing to do with the war are being attacked. My guess is that the people in Georga will seek safty in Russia and will not seek American help.
Our forign policy has a way of hurting so many people.
Possible solution:
Call you congressman in the morning and demand that all American troops and or hired guns to be removed from Georgia. It will provide a calming effect. The Russians are already pissed with our actions. Cool head must prevail or it will only get worse.

an example from BBC site; they are saying that the russians are targeting a main oil line, but this is clearly un-true if they wanted to destroy it, it would be gone. This is based on what georgia has told them, they are using the ‘Oil Crises’ to try to get international help (because that oil line has alot of international invensters). Russian TV reports 2000+ civilians dead, but thats only from the Georgian assault on south-ossertia… the BBC take this and twist it to make it look like the russians are causing most civilian casualties and targeting civilian. I’m not saying that the Georgian goverment is wrong because I cannot verify it, all im saying it that the claims they make are very very very dodgy! dodgy enough to cast disbelief in my mind. You watch the Georgian president trying so hard to get us all involved in this, when he first used its an attack on our values and way of life and seeings that didnt work they are just using popaganda now!

I personally think that this has been preset up. We are falling for it again. Why is it that the US and Israel are teaming up together against Russia? The United States has held Georgia up as a beacon of democracy in the former Soviet Union; it was supposed to be an example to other former Soviet republics of the benefits of tilting to the West.
But that, along with America and Europe’s actions on Kosovo, left Russia feeling threatened, encircled and more convinced that it had to take aggressive measures to restore its power, dignity and influence in a region it considers its strategic back yard, foreign policy experts said.
Russia’s emerging aggressiveness is now also timed with America’s preoccupation with Iraq and Afghanistan, and the looming confrontation with Iran. These counterbalancing considerations mean that Moscow is in the driver’s seat, administration officials acknowledged.
“We’ve placed ourselves in a position that globally we don’t have the wherewithal to do anything,” Mr. Friedman of Stratfor said. “One would think under those circumstances, we’d shut up.”

So all the parliaments decided to toss out the votes and only let parliaments decide, except for Ireland where the constitution required a referendum. ALL other parliaments were in favor of giving the EU constitutional power over member states, but unanimous consent by all member states was needed. Thank Ireland for voting NO. When there is so much power behind it that elections are tossed out and forbidden it will not end that easily.

I’ve got Georgia on my mind, now that the Soviet . . . I mean, Russia has attacked and invaded that nation and killed over 1,500 civilians on its first day of aggression. I am anxiously waiting for the UN to condemn that country with the same terminology that they used against Israel when she was attacked by Hizbollah from Lebanon last year. “A disproportionate use of force” is a much more fitting description of the Russian bear’s actions. 1,500 died in Lebanon, yes, but that was over a 2-month period of hostilities, initiated by the side that paid that high price who fired weapons and then hid among these innocents and their children.
Where is ‘Amnesia International’ and all the other Leftist groups who are always first in line to condemn legitimate American and Israeli actions to defend themselves? Oh, that’s right. Putin, along with Cuba’s Castro, North Korea’s Kim, China’s Hu and their ilk are all their ideological comrades.

I used to love America when I was studying there in an American university for my master’s degree. Now I almost hate you…I’m still trying to believe that there will be changes in your country when a new president comes. But something tells me that there won’t be any. I don’t understand why so much hostility, so much “false” superiority over other nations. Thank God I left the USA! There are lots of well meaning Americans at this blog and I appreciate them. However, there are far to many Americans that just dont get it, and without the majority protesting, the bad is just going to get worse. Remember, Americans are not liked in many countries, so if you leave remember to be humble in the new country you go to. Let them get to know you in the community you choose, and see that you are not like most Americans. Do it before you wont even be accepted at all.

Why would Russia want to go back to becoming the USSR??? They most likely want to control the former regions that they did before, but I highly doubt that all the newly formed Russian capitalists would dare to abdicate their newfound wealth to the state once again. They are absorbing the free enterprise, and with that comes expansion of the political, economic, military, and geostrategic hegemony in order to secure a definite supply of lucrative resources and establish puppet regimes. I can guarantee you this war wont end until Saakashvili is overthrown and a Pro Russian leader is installed. Both Russia and the US want control of this region, and both are willing to resort to the most horrific means in order to get it. Welcome to the new world war.

I’d sure hate to be one of the civilians caught in the middle. Both the CIA/NATO and Kremlin/FSB have an interest in causing trouble here. When the fog of war and propaganda subside, then we might have a chance of finding out who really sparked this off. I wouldn’t trust any media coming from Moscow or the BBC on this.
This whole operation was pre-planned quite some time back, and now we’re seeing the Russians doing a lot more than just a ‘rescue mission’ for the South Ossetians. They’ve bombed airports and ports deep inside Georgia, and sunk a Georgian Naval vessel. How much the Georgian government actually planned for this, and how much the competing CIA/Kremlin gangsters dragged them into is unclear. What is clear is that the ordinary folk on the ground will suffer greatly while the armed kleptocracies vie for regional power.

BAKU (AFP) — Azerbaijan has halted oil exports via the Georgian ports of Batumi and Kulevi due to clashes between Russia and Georgia, the head of the state oil company said Saturday.
“Since last night the import and export of oil through the Georgian ports of Kulevi and Batumi have been halted,” said Rovnag Abdullayev, the head of the Azeri state oil company SOCAR, in televised comments.
“This is due to armed actions in the area of the Georgia-Ossetia conflict.”
He added that SOCAR was “looking into the possibility of exporting oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, but the capacity of this pipeline is quite low,” in a reference to a route that links the Azerbaijani capital to the Russian Black Sea Coast.
Earlier Saturday Russian planes staged a raid near the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, a major international oil route that runs through Georgia, but did not damage it, Georgia’s prime minister said.
In recent years Georgia has become an important transport route for oil from Azerbaijan and other Caspian Sea oil producers, allowing Western oil firms to bypass Russia’s oil pipelines.

You don’t know what you are playing with – the Caucasus region is a burning melting pot. There are so many nationalities there you don’t know about, and you don’t care to get to know. Russia for 2 centuries was trying to keep peace in this region trying not to turn it into terrorist Afganistan or Pakistan. You know, back in the 1920s the Russian “white” general Denikin who was fighting with bolsheviks/communists after the bolshevik revolution (and unfortunately for the nation (cause these were really the best people of our nation – proud and smart) they failed), well he wrote in his memories that Georgians of all the caucasus region were the real hot heads and very cruel (he said you wouldn’t know if they are your friends or your enemy). It’s really sad, cause they are brilliant clever live-loving people with many wonderful artists, actors and famous thinkers. They are brilliant singers, you can watch and listen them dancing and singing their folks songs and dances endlessly! So many Georgians live in the Russian Frederation and we love them and value their friendship. That’s why it’s so hard for us to understand what’s going on on our common land now. It’s such a terror for all of us! Now we got this bloody mess from the bloody communists who artificially divided these tiny borders between the republics after the red revolution. And we’re trying to deal with it!
Chechnya (which you like to blow in our face) received its independence in 1996-97. And what we got back – murders, kidnapping, public executions by stones, vakhabism…and then they tried to invade Dagestan, which thank god we managed to stop.
Now your governments (US and pathetic EU) are trying to demolish this tiny peace in this region. These people have been fighting with each other for centuries, they are hot heads! when nobody interfered in there there was peace back in the eighties and we lived together happilly (you wouldn’t believe it, wouldn’t you?). I lived in Baku (Azerbaijan) all my happy childhood and finished high school there, we were friends until the peace there was destroyed and Armenians and Russians had to leave the country. I visited my friends some years ago, the first time since 1990. And we were so happy to see each other with my Azerbaijanian friends. And what now, your government is destroying this tiny peace supplying armoury and helping the Georgian army.
And now, instead of watching the Olimpic games and be proud for our athlets we all (people of the Russian Federation, Georgia and Ossetia), we all feel such pain and tears! You will never know cause all you did was fighting on other continents, on other land, you don’t know how bloody dreadful it is when you hear the sound of shooting and bombing (now think of poor Iraqis to whom you are bringing your democracy). The whole country is collecting necessary things, medicine and money for Ossetians and people offer their shelters to them. You wouldn’t believe it cause you obstinately make yourselves think that Russians are neurotic (as someone on the forum said), barbaric and all other sh…t. Funny how these barbaric Russians gave the world so many famous people, so many works of art, ballet, literature, music, sports…
I hope this tragedy will unite our multinational country although we have so many hardships to overcome, to grow. We are going our way and you have no moral rights to interfere. You’ve done enough. May be not Russians, may be some other country, some other people, but I hope the revenge will come to you, you deserved it the most of all the people. Ludmilla, you make some very good points. Most Americans don’t know where Georgia is in our country, let alone that there is another place with that name and where it is. They’re too busy watching American Idol and baseball games. I’m wondering though whether you are upset about America trying to intervene in the Bolshevik Revolution to help the White side against the Reds? A lot of Americans died trying to stop the Reds. But yes, I think American/Israeli provocations are behind the Georgian invasion, and the timing of it. It’s extremely hypocritical of Bush and his junta to be demanding Russia withdraw from Georgia when he has armies in Iraq and Afghanistan, still occupies Germany and Japan, and still occupies Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. And the Israeli’s still occupy Palestine and stole land from Palestinians and Syrians, not to mention the violence they’ve waged against the Palestinian people for 60 years. Perhaps Russia, however, can come clean about the American POW’s that they kept from the intervention during the Russian Civil War, from World War II, Korea and Vietnam?
