The mother of one of the two gunmen says she doesn’t blame police for what they did. Sharon Soofi says she had no idea her son held such radical beliefs that he would be willing to plot such a sinister attack.
“I can’t imagine what went through his mind,” said Soofi.
Soofi says she’s at a loss to describe why her son Nadir would allegedly pack an arsenal and wear body armor on a mission to kill people inside Garland’s Curtis Culwell Center Sunday.
“He’s an intelligent kid to be convinced to do something like this is just beyond belief,” Soofi says.
The suspect’s mother believes the other accused gunman brainwashed her 34-year-old son while they were roommates in a Phoenix apartment.
