Murdoch CEO Labels Bloggers “Political Extremists”

A stinging attack by John Hartigan, the CEO of Rupert Murdoch’s News Limited, labels bloggers and alternative media outlets as “political extremists”. Hartigan implies that bloggers should be jailed as they are in oppressive police states like China and Burma.
In a speech to the National Press Club, Hartigan savagely dismissed blogs as, “Something of such little intellectual value as to be barely discernible from massive ignorance.”
“Bloggers don’t go to jail for their work. They simply aren’t held accountable like real reporters….It could be said the blogosphere is all eyeballs and no insights,” barked Hartigan.
“In the blogosphere, of course, the mainstream media is always found wanting. It really is time this myth was blown apart.”
“Blogs, and a large number of comment sites, specialise in political extremism and personal vilification. Radical sweeping statements without evidence are common.”
Hartigan doesn’t seem to grasp the fact that the mainstream media is always found wanting because they habitually lie about news events and spin stories to suit the demands of their corporate owners. This is the very reason why blogs and alternative media outlets have become so popular and have eaten into the mainstream media’s audience share, because people are sick of being treated like idiots, sick of being lied to, and are desperately in search of the truth.
Indeed, Hartigan’s boss Rupert Murdoch confessed to the fact that his media empire tried to shape public opinion to support the war in Iraq In other words, Murdoch’s many prominent news outlets wantonly put out propaganda supporting the manufactured case for invasion. Murdoch admitted to this while lamenting the corporate media’s “loss of power” to alternative media and Internet blogs, seemingly unaware of the fact that the two are directly connected.
When the people know that the corporate media is deliberately lying to them about Niger yellowcake and weapons of mass destruction, they are going to seek alternative avenues of information. The fact that the corporate media habitually lies is a manifestly provable reality, not a “myth” as Hartigan ludicrously claims.

The corporate media monopoly has terminal cancer and they are losing their power to blogs and alternative media, which is why people like Hartigan are so angry and also why the establishment is aggressively moving to phase out the old Internet altogether and replace it with “Internet 2,” a highly regulated and controlled electronic Berlin wall, where alternative voices will be silenced and giant corporate propaganda organs will dominate once again.
As blogger Darryl Mason writes today, “John Hartigan is full of shit. Bloggers have gone to jail for their work, and to protect their sources, in North Korea, Iran, Egypt, the list of countries persecuting bloggers grows longer by the week. And the CEO of Australia’s biggest news corporation doesn’t know this?”
The jailing of bloggers for speaking too much truth is obviously not the kind of news that John Hartigan, a Rupert Murdoch CEO, is interested in. How could he not know about those jailing and prosecutions.
Remember those words. “Political extremism”.
You will hear that call more and more as the major news corporations scale up their war against independent media, and bloggers.
The source of the establishment’s move to claim that bloggers and alternative media outlets are “extremists” or at worst “terrorists,” as we first reported in September 2006, was a White House strategy document that the government had been following since 9/11.
In a September 5, 2006 speech President George W. Bush referred to the document as “an unclassified version of the strategy we’ve been pursuing since September the 11th, 2001,” that takes into account, “the changing nature of this enemy.”
The strategy paper on how to ‘win the war on terror’ cites “conspiracies” as one of the wellsprings of terrorism and threatens to “address” and “diminish” the problems they are causing the government in fulfilling their agenda.
This notion then reappeared in a March 2009 Homeland Security document entitled “Domestic Extremism Lexicon,” in which the “alternative media” is listed alongside other radical extremist groups with the implication that people who disagree with the mass media’s version of events are potential domestic terrorists.
According to World Net Daily, the DHS document was almost immediately rescinded, but the groups listed alongside Neo-Nazis, Aryan prison gangs and black power extremists again prove that the federal government is targeting American citizens who are merely knowledgeable about their rights and up on current issues as potential domestic terrorists to be treated as a “threat” to law enforcement.

The tax bill for us all (and future generations) is far beyond our comprehension. The elite are using these last few months (year? who knows) to buy all the real, tangible assets possible so that they can control these same assets once the fiat, inherently worthless dollar finally ceases to accepted as a medium of exchange.
Once that happens martial law will be declared, supermarkets will empty, and the culling will begin – not necessarily in that order. Watch the dollar index (google: DXY) – if the number stays below 72 for more than a week or two, don’t count on the ATM/debit card to work much longer!

How is it extremism if we call for less restrictive laws, when we call for not separate laws for groups, but rather have one law for all people equally, when we have all people to which they have their own choice and set their own destination. But of coarse they would call us extreme because we would have more equal power while they (corporate/ political) have less power and more equal to each and everyone of us and of coarse they would hate that, so in their eyeballs not insight it is extreme to them. They are working with the sherrif( whom is a contitutionalist), and with local athorities. I have the same thing happen OFTEN, I went to the so called “liberal” site Huffington Post and tried to publish 3 comments, that weren’t offensisve, dorogatory, or used foul language. I am an INDEPENDENT who follows NO party or even person perse (But thinks Ron Paul is better than most by comparison) and they deleted all of the comments because they weren’t in step with the baaaaaing of the heard of Obama’s sheep followers and asked some REAL questions and provided some good food for thought as well. Think about this: perhaps this obvious progression towards the NWO isn’t quite as evil as we’ve all been insisting. Have we forgotten the blatant fact that there are people out there who simply wish us dead, and nothing more? The crucially significant issue of overpopulation is an important one. Would you prefer a controlled demolition with a predictable outcome i.e. population control or an unpredictable rotting building i.e. the most likely devastating result of an alternative? If you see the human race as a macrocosm this stuff all makes more sense. The human race can’t seem to take care of itsself particularly well so maybe a new order is warranted after all. Nobody stops to think about that. Ask yourself what would be so detrimental about a world government modeled after the EU? A unified alliance? Would such a government allow the public beheadings of innocent women to continue, for example? I doubt it. Even the gun issue is questionable. Would it not feel safer if guns were eradicated from society? I believe it would. Tell me where my logic is faulty, as I’m just acknowledging man’s propensity for groupthink, which in actuality would make us no better than the vast majority of the population we so readily scorn.

This American to be honest with you I’m completely appalled with the entire situation also. I am just trying to grapple with the apparent immensity of everything to determine within myself which is the lesser of two evils. The optimist in me insists that everything behind the scenes is being carried out with the intention of an overall greater good i.e. the eradication of unprovoked violence and chaos in the world, albeit through some apparently aggressive means. The belief in the inherent good of man. The pessimist in me, however, realizes that such a ploy comes from some very dark places within the human psyche and that if history is to be considered, as indeed it should, we need to be incredibly wary. As far as the depopulation scheme, I’m at a loss. That really isn’t cool, and actually makes me a little nauseous. But then I have also heard of mathematical studies which put the breaking point for the planet at the nine bil. or so mark, before we collapse. I’m out of room here. Moral issues abound.

These comments are absolutely true. Rupert is absolutely correct. This same contention was made when black athletes tried to get into professional sports. We all know history. Black athletes (like bloggers) just can’t compete with the pros. Of course, if you made a point about this history, or Rupert’s in-depth reporting of building 7 (something few Americans even know about, and a mention of it makes you a terrorist for bringing it up ((oops, but not me))) on 9-11), Rupert would say, “You’ll never work in this town again”. Friends, this ‘news’ means that we are hitting the big guys right where it hurts them the most – so, keep the blogs , the opinions, the Real News flowing!! – meanwhile, let’s keep thinking about ways to stay in touch and communicate with each other when the internet does get shut down – which is going to get interesting, because with all of the businesses that rely on the internet in one way or another TO DO BUSINESS…
Think about this: if the ‘net gets shut down, then that is an interference with interstate commerce, yes? ..small business web-sites could be used to “spread the word”, ideas, thoughts, pictures, and products, of course!

If you truly love your country, if you truly want to protect your country, then look into the mirror and ask yourself, “who is my master”? Who is calling the shots? Who is ordering you to trample the fundamental rights of the very citizens you swore to protect? How far are you willing to go in the name of “safety”? Is it okay to detain citizens with no representation? Is it okay to disarm a populace so they are unable to defend themselves? Why did you get involved in law enforcement in the first place? Was it to defend the LIBERTY of your fellow citizen? Was it because you like to wear a badge? Carry a gun? Is it because you want to be on the “winning side”?. What kind of country are you building for YOUR children, for MY children. Will it be a nation built on fear? A nation where if you say the wrong thing, or peacefully protest against government action you are labled a “terrorist”? Is this the world you want your children to live in? Do you want them to live in a world where we are controlled by fear and by corporate interests? Where we are simply sheep, our only purpose to fill the coffers of international bankers, weapons contractors, and out-dated energy cartels? Shame on all of you who took an oath to defend this country from foreign and DOMESTIC threats that are facilitating the very demise of our once-great Nation. It’s about time. To me we’re all bunch of sheep. We all do what we’re told to do. You either agree or not. Look at what you read on the internet, what you buy, what you see on TV, what car you drive, and the list goes on. We’re all Modern Slaves to these big corporations and the government.
