Members of the state’s National Guard arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday to help support security efforts during the New Year’s Eve festivities.

According to Sgt. Mike Orton, of the Nevada National Guard, about 40 troops have been assigned to McCarran International Airport.

About 160 other troops will be placed at four intersections along the Las Vegas Strip to aid Las Vegas Metro police with a visible security presence.
