National Guard On Alert For Tea Party Protests

The Maryland National Guard has been put on alert in anticipation of today’s nationwide Tea Party protests, while a Homeland Security spokesman refused to deny that protesters would be under surveillance from the DHS.
The Maryland National Guard issued a Force Protection Advisory on April 11 which has since been leaked to the Internet, namely to the Jawa Report website.
The document warns the National Guard to be on alert during the Tea Party protests because Guardsmen and Guard facilities might become “targets of opportunity.” The contact point for the document is listed as the Antiterrorism Program Coordinator.
“This Maryland Army National Guard (MDARNG) Force Protection advisory is in response to a nationwide planned protest activities scheduled for April 15, 2009. Although there is no known direct threat to MDNG facilities and MDNG members, they may become a target of opportunity during plan protest activities throughout Maryland,” states the advisory.
It continues, “Numerous entities have formed recently to express displeasure/anger over recent federal/state government actions: more taxes, increased spending, higher deficits, a surge of borrowing to pay for it all, bailout of the financial institutions, and etc. This movement can be identified by different variations of “TEA Party” or “Tea Party.” Past “TEA Party” events have been peaceful. There was a “Tea party” event at Solomons, Maryland, on March 22, 2009. “TEA” stands for “Taxed Enough Already.”
The document then gives a full list of the times and locations of the Tea Party protests in Maryland and advises National Guard personnel to, “Contact local law enforcement when feel threaten by protesters or protesters trespass into MDNG.”
“Commanders at all levels should establish relationship with local police in order to understand the local threats. Keep family members informed. Talk to other service personnel to share information. Practice OPSEC. Don’t provide personal information to anyone you don’t know. Avoid high risk areas,” the advisory states.
As the Jawa Report points out, the majority of the people attending the Tea Party protests will be mainstream conservatives who are likely to be pro-military and pro-national guard. It’s almost inconceivable that they would be any kind of threat to the Maryland National Guard.
The advisory is more likely to be directed against libertarians and Ron Paul-style Republicans who will also be attending the Tea Party protests in large numbers.

Indeed, the United States Army Reserve Command issued a similar Force Protection Advisory last November before the nationwide End the Fed protests, warning that protesters were congregating across the country to demonstrate against the private Federal Reserve. The FPA issued by the Army Reserve is very similar in language to that issued by the Maryland National Guard.
Why the military and National Guard is concerning itself with peaceful, patriotic Americans who are merely exercising their right to protest is fundamentally disturbing. One would expect the police to be aware and prepared for demonstrations but only from the perspective of maintaining order and keeping the peace. The Army and the National Guard has no business putting itself on alert for peaceful demonstrations by patriotic Americans.
Meanwhile, during an interview on the Roger Hedgecock Show, Sean Smith, Assistant Secretary of DHS for Public Affairs, refused to deny that Homeland Security officials would be spying on Tea Party protesters when pressed by Hedgecock.
The Roger Hedgecock website published the following photo on its website today underneath the words,
“Can you identify this man, spying on Tea Party participants?”
“Is the department sending people to video or record in any way the Tea Parties?” asked Hedgecock during the interview.
“Um, I can’t speak to sort of things that are law enforcement sensitive. Um, so I can’t speak to any current law enforcement operations,” responded Smith.
Smith also refused to clarify whether or not the DHS considered organizers of the Tea Party protests to be right-wing extremists.
Smith appeared on the show to respond to burgeoning outrage about a recently leaked Homeland Security report that equates gun owners and protesters with domestic terrorists like Timothy McVeigh.
Smith implied that the the controversy surrounding the report following the widespread outrage would roll on but appeared to rule out any kind of retraction, saying that the report stands.

c. (U//FOUO) Commanders are encouraged to update alert rosters and review emergency evacuation plans/rally points. Ensure all facilities have emergency phone lists posted (i.e. FBI, FIRE, POLICE, HOSPITALS, EMS, ETC…). Be aware of and avoid local protests. Report all potential protest activities to your next higher headquarters.
d. (U//FOUO) Continue implementation of RAM and a review of policies and procedures, especially in regards to cooperation or assistance with local emergency responders.

I attended a Tea Party in Alabama today. It was peaceful and well organized. I had my pepper spray and bad attitude ready in case some assholes like ACORN, or Left Wingers showed up, but none did. There were over 2000 attendees. It was great.

The language though, It hints that military personnel should be cautious and avoid protests. I would think servicemen should have the same concerns as protesters in this case.
The document itself goes beyond creating an us and them frame mind. Plus, the document instructs individuals to observe activists in a light similar to that of terrorists. They don’t use the word, but look at other documents or videos that openly apply to terrorism. The language is similar. Law enforment agencies are being conditioned a new mantra. The country is being devided further.

Why we’ve been stopped at every turn? Some, if not most, of our efforts lack leadership, plans & ops, cohesive organization, willpower, focus, etc. And the puppets are more terrified of the hidden hands than the People’s hands. Expecting change, for now, is wishful thinking.
Since the Tea Party is to voice grievances covering a broad range of things (symbolic) instead of giving notice backed up with doable action, the result is predictable. What’s not predictable is a smack down.

Consider this, my friends. Protesting is great, but what does it really accomplish? Wouldn’t it be easier to Insist Alex Jones use this great following to ACTUALLY do something about it?? Well, for one, the Navy wouldn’t be much use anyways. It’s not like we need shipments of needed supplies by sea.
Secondly, militias have always done well in revolts, although huge loses, and loss of morale is a reality, they end up winning in the end. It depends on leadership and the goal.
I was in the Marines for 9 years, I know it would be stupid to take an army head on. The trick is to outlast them. Take out the leadership, supply-lines, and communications.
Armor? They need gas, food, water, and ammo sometime. All it takes is a shot to the head that pops out first. What good is armor if they have nobody to operate them?
I suggest, you stop being a defeatist and read books on historical battles and military handbooks.

I have to work today and couldn’t get the time off to attend the rally here in Anchorage, Alaska; but I just drove by there and was heartily satisfied and very happy to see that the enitre intersection of 7th and C street choked with protesters and other pissed off Americans raising hell about the illegal, unconstitutional tax burden we the people bear while the slimy s--- stinking elites get off without losing a dime. Rest assured, fellow infowarriors, wide awake believers, and fed up brothers and sisters, my heart and soul is with you even though my ass has to be in the corporate chair (yeah, when I asked for time off to attend a political rally I was vehemently denied- no bias there) and though I couldn’t attend that rally, I will be using my voice and emails & keep posting flyers in my neighborhood to raise all holy hell about our country’s situation. Went to my tea party here in texas. Denton. Estimated about 500 people. Good mix of old and young. I was very proud that people made the effort. it was a little too ‘republican’ for my tastes, (being an Alex Jones fan and all), but it was still refreshing.

that’s awesome brother, many passer-bys were honking,looking on as we stood there for those who couldn’t make it either. Hopefully it woke some more sheeple, although the Mcain conservatives were there and still do not get it plus I am still mad as hell!!!!!!!!!!!!I still cannot support a family-no jobs, the politicians don’t care. The tea party in West Palm Beach went well. There were many ignorant “conservatives” and I was threatened numerous times for having 9/11 was an inside job flyers and signs, but overall the majority of people are already aware of what’s happening, or at least willing to take a look at the info which was provided to them. There were tons of cops, and I’m sure there were some undercover… had a few people come up and aim their cameras right at me…. but overall it went well. Hope you all were safe and things went well for you too!

Just got back from the Tea Party in Dallas, Texas! Whew! Man what a HUUUUUUGE turn-out. I also got some video which I’ll try and put together in a Youtube vid or maybe just pull clips from for newsblogs and articles I’ll whip up in a couple days. There was of course a police presence, but most of the ones in uniform were cool and didn’t bug the protestors. Glad to say we didn’t have any detractors (ACORN, Huffington Post or otherwise) or rioters in the audience. Just ALOT of hardcore conservatives looking to “take America back.” I also did see some plainclothes cops, they weren’t hard to spot. But I did see a couple guys in camo gear, I didn’t know if they were DHS or what. I had a cop on my shoulder for like 15 mins as I videotaped some of the speakers… and oh yeah, the guy who hosted the thing (Mark Davis from NewsTalk820) sounds almost literally like Alex Jones! I kid you not… I mean when my girlfriend and I first showed up, we heard this guy over the speaker and I was like, WTF? Alex Jones came to Dallas for this thing? But when you see Mark you totally know he’s not Alex but his voice is essentially the same. Weird. There’s more actions planned for July 4th but we’re all encouraged to keep up the fight with our Congressmen and stay on their butts.

Not one policeman was in sight. Not one National Guard soldier was in sight. The protests are in some part a protest for the national guardsman who are being used as tools for giving up their morals for a larger financial buyout, so if they are suppose to watch this protest and prepare to use force if necessary then it is proving they will do anything they are told no matter how much people want to change what is happen to their world.
