As our government enacts a stimulus package and President Barack Obama announces bold initiatives to stem home mortgage foreclosures, disaster threatens family farmers and their communities.
The government’s response to plummeting commodity prices and tightening credit markets leads to the basic question: Who will produce our food? This is a worldwide crisis. U.S. policy and the demand for deregulation at all levels — from food production to financial markets — contribute greatly to the global collapse. The solution must be grounded in food sovereignty so that all farmers and their communities can regain control over their food supply. This response makes sense here in Wisconsin and was the global message from the 500+ farmer leaders at the Via Campesina conference in Mozambique in October.
Many U.S. farmers are going out of business because they receive prices equal to about one half their cost to produce our food. How long could any enterprise receiving half the amount of its input costs stay in business? As an example, dairy farmers in the Northeast and Midwest must be paid between 30 and 35 cents per pound for their milk to pay production costs and provide basic living expenses. Until 1980, farmers received a price equal to 80 percent of parity, meaning that farmers’ purchasing power kept up with the rest of the economy. Unfortunately, a 1981 political decision discontinued parity, and today the dairy farmers’ share is below 40 percent.
“Free trade” and other regressive agricultural policies have decimated farms. We are now a food deficit nation dependent on food imports, often of questionable quality.
Our food system is nearly broke, which is almost as serious as our country’s financial meltdown. With fair farm policies, farmers would get fair prices that would not require higher consumers prices. The Canadian dairy pricing system is the best example that proves fair farmer prices can and often do bring lower consumer prices and a healthier rural economy. In addition, excessive middleman profits are taking advantage of both consumers and producers.
As more farmers face bankruptcy, we all face a food emergency. European farmers speak from thousands of years of experience on the importance of family farms when they warn us, “Any time a country neglects its family farm base and allows it to become financially bankrupt, the entire economy of that country will soon collapse. It may take generations to rebuild the farm economy and that of the country.”
Despite the magnitude of this food emergency, the “farm crisis” does not appear in headlines, so politicians are not compelled to provide political or financial assistance to something that would likely fail to bring votes. As farmers, we are now only about 1 percent of the U.S. population, and have little power to expose and prevent our demise. However, our urban and rural friends could be vital voices and advocates.
Bailing out the financial giants will not solve the financial crisis in the country, but the right policies and stimulus dollars could prevent a severe food crisis by saving farmers and workers. Furthermore, farm income dollars remain in and multiply at least two to four times in the local economy.
Family farmers have proposed fair food and farm policies that can be implemented at a fraction of the present multibillion-dollar policies destroying us. As the Treasury Department develops plans to distribute the bailout funds, the National Family Farm Coalition and others urge it to require banks receiving funds to treat their borrowers fairly by providing debt restructuring as an alternate to home or farm foreclosure or bankruptcy.
Concerned citizens can call the White House, 202-456-1111, or your members of Congress, 202-224-3121, to urge them to support policies that enable farmers to earn a fair market price; request an emergency milk price at $17.50 per hundred weight; provide price stability through government grain reserves and effective supply management; support the TRADE Act to be reintroduced in Congress; increase direct and guaranteed loans to family farmers; and ensure that the food we raise can be marketed to local schools and institutions, providing a better food supply at a fair price. We need these immediate changes in our food and farm policy.
John Kinsman, a dairy farmer from La Valle, is president of Family Farm Defenders, based in Madison.

I’m a family farmer when I can afford to be. My land is paid for and I had the livestock. The problem is the government has made it nearly impossible to sell anything off of the family farm. You can’t even sell the extra milk, cheese or meat to your own neighbors legally. It all has to be done “underground”. Hard to make a living that way. So as a consequince I now live two hours away from the farm working in a factory to make enough money to buy supplies and make the bills.
The good news is these tyrranical some beaches running our government will soon be too busy just trying to survive. Can’t enforce laws when it’s too dangerous for a beauracrat to leave the safety of the city. There will be singing and rejoicing when I can return home.

Man this is ridiculous!
When did all this start? I guess I missed it when I moved to the big city. My father grew up on a farm, and I remember when I was a kid we would be driving down the road and my father would always pull over and buy from the road-side stands.
These were usually set up right outside the city limits, no licenses, no permits, nothing. I’d ask him why buy there when we are going to the grocery store anyway, and he would tell me…
It’s sometimes, but not always cheaper.
It ALWAYS tastes better.
It’s ALWAYS better for you.
And you help out the little guy.
Now I understand he probably meant under-the-table, non-taxed cash in the farmer’s pocket.

“Excessive middleman profits are taking advantage of both consumers and producers.”
This has been the story for the small farmers for years, milk for example goes up in the store, who gets the profit? You got it, the middle man, not the farmer. Why is it like this, the Government for years has been trying to push the family farmers out, and turn farming into big buisness. When my family owned a farm we always had plenty to eat, but cash money was always short. Even without the money, that was the life folks, I wish I could go back to those days living on the family farm. The meat we ate we raised, the veggies came from the garden, and the milk folks, until you tasted milk straight from the tank you have never tasted milk. The store bought milk is so watered down that even today I dont drink it. Home made butter, home made jelly.
Apostle, I truly feel for you and your family, hope things come together and you can go back to your farm.

Yo, if you, on the one hand, say, “I can’t sell excess crops to my neighbors,” how can you, on the other hand, say, “Free trade policies are the problem?” That is totally ludicrous. Free trade means no government intervention. If the gov’t says you can’t sell for this or that price, or you can’t sell to your neighbors for whatever price you agree upon, then it as absolutely NOT free trade. You guys are ridiculous! What you are actually complaining about, but seem to not understand, is GLOBAL FREE TRADE. Which is not free trade at all if local free trade is stifled.
If more of you folks here understood the economy and the actual definitions of the terms you are using, you might not be in the situation you’re in. But instead, you all whine that free trade is the problem. Free trade is not the problem. Corporate farming monopolies are the problem. Government intervention in small farmers lives and lack of intervention in corporate farmers’ monopolistic practices is the problem.
C’mon you guys, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Learn economics. True economics: Austrian free-market theory. You’ll be glad you did.

“Nearly Broke” is not correct. While the food processors [ADM, Monsanto, etc.] continue to make profits regardless of economic downturns, these same corporations use their massive size, wealth & political clout to keep this nations farmers in debt. Todays family farm loses money on the AG operation & must rely on outside income to survive. Income like Government Subsidies, rental income [renting out excess housing on farm owned land] & non-farm employment. Farming has become a TAX WRITE-OFF for the wealthy & elite. The Mega-Farm or Factory-Farm does make money but they are deeply tied to the ready avilability of illegal alian employees who will settle for a slave style workplace & likewise living conditions.
The nations food system is totally bankrupt, financially and morally.

I always said I will take the farm subsidies out of nesessity but if the government would just back off on regulations and tax and imports and NAFTA and pesky beauracrats and and and. The government creates a problem to create a solution thus justify theyre existence.
Do you know how much we recieved for growing canning tomatos in 2002? Two and a half cents a pound. An acre is the size of a football field. It cost us $1600 an acre to produce them. 30 tons to an acre, $1500 an acre.
In Hawaii, Guavas and Mangos grow everywhere, but we import them instead. The tourism has held the island together after the sugar cane industry went away to China. Now what since the tourism is slowed.
I was damn close to homeless after the loss, I went thru what many went thru in the depression of the 30’s, and this was 6 years ago. I am ready, I am battle hardened. I got back on my feet and sold cars during the boom and recently, I bought another business.

It sounds like you’re trying to think ahead. The problem is the government is presently working overtime to make the National Animal Identification System mandatory and Monsanto is doing their best to corner the seed production. Be sure to use open-pollinated seeds so you can save them for the next year without any patent problems. Problem is, Monsanto’s GMO seeds have been cross-pollinating with the open-pollinated seeds and then Monsanto takes the farmer to court claiming damages. Monsanto has already driven a number of farmers out of business this way.

Eating meat is not wrong. You may think it is wrong but it is a natural act. I don’t support the large Industrial farms that take from the small farmers and torture the animals. There is a humane way to treat an animal going to slaughter. The same applies in raising the animal for the consumption of quality meat.
Take a look at the teeth you were given…notice anything specific about four of your teeth? They were designed to eat meat, that’s why they are slightly pointed. We don’t have teeth like Deer or cows, we don’t have four chambered stomachs or hoofed limbs. The reason we don’t is because we are omnivorous and were meant to eat a certain amount of meat proteins.

For more than 5 years, we have bought vegs and meat only from local (central fla.) ranches and farms. Even in this land of wall to wall highrise condos and retirement money, this is possible. In these years we have seen the demand and production of local (clean) food grow by leaps and bounds. People, everywhere, are “awakening” but we must all do more….
There is ’something’ that we ‘all’ can do, and we must..
We own 300 acres in central Ga. it is presently leased to a “chemical” farmer. (so we could afford to keep it) We have done the research on how to clean it up and again use it to grow decent food and that’s what we are going to do when the lease is up. (2 more years)
I’m certain many others are doing or contemplating something similar.
Not getting ‘astral’ on you but we must hold this country together and avoid ‘martial law’ until there are enough ‘awakenings’ to turn the tide.
I have hope in us, even though,,,

The entire food supply industry has been corrupted for reasons of top down control. If you have a three day fuel outage the entire country will start to starve because the trucks will stop. This system is going down and subsidized farming will go out of business. We have to start proper food independence on a local scale in local communities. Google permaculture and check out the movies and data. The possibilities are limitless.
You can do this and need to. Start now so that you can teach others in the community to start. Remember that none survive alone and the greater number of food secure individuals and families who set up their own food gardens the more secure the whole community becomes whilst creating a localized exchange markets from which everyone benefits.

Screw the rates on credit cards! Want to get back at them for raising your rate? Max the damn card out (if possible) on non-perishable food, guns, ammo, survival equipment. If the banker pimps are charging 30.99% interest is won’t matter if the principal isn’t being paid.
Don’t worry about credit scores any more! The ship is sinking! Why do you think there are so many ads dealing with credit scores and debt services? They want you to think this stuff really matters! Banks are only willing to settle for pennies on the dollar on debt because the government has promised them the rest. It’s all smoke and mirrors, 1s and 0s in a computer somewhere.
If they’ve built death camps, it will make it that much easier for us! We surround them!

The point I’m trying to make is as followed: We are in this era of awareness far beyond the generations before us and with awareness comes knowledge.True power is knowledge and understanding no matter what you believe or what your higher power may be.Newtons law says”What goes up must come down”,America will fall like it or not, whats important in this matter is in the end WE the people will have our Republic back.Material things can always be replaced. We could all stand united and make a real change,I believe we will soon like it or not. When it comes right down to line, you people out there nit pickin about this and that and arguing about which one is right, will be standing side by side,as American brothers and sisters defending our freedom,Liberties,Preservation of our beloved Constitution,And the welfare of our children and our elderly. That time will come……….and it may be sooner than you think,we are all intitled to our opinions and beliefs but when the crap hits the fan we will be protecting our Country UNITED!!!!

You can choose veg. over meat but you are not getting the full benifit of haveing both. I know vegans who have to take pills to give them what they are missing in their diet. MEAT. I have a freind who wont eat anything that has eyes or a mama. So I asked do you eat clams? Eggs that are not fertalized? What about milk? I think live and let live. Veggies are what food eats. if the US government(and it’s people) had a brain they would subsidize the SMALL FAMILY FARMER heavily like they do in europe. the reason europe gives large subsidizes to the small family farmer is because they went without food during WWII. they understand the importance of the farmer. a majority of americans(including adults) are too naive to realize that the family farms are the backbone to a healthy country…
…and when i say small family farm i mean less than 500 acres. if i was the USDA Secretary this is what i would do:
1) i would give farmers $200/acre in subsidy up to 250 acres($50,000 total). i would also put a cap of 500 acres per farmer so there would be abundant land available to buy or rent so anybody could start farming if they wanted to. this would break down the large farms.
2) livestock would also be subsidized but your grand total could never exceed $50,000(livestock and land together)
for example, you want to farm 80 acres with livestock. you would get paid $200 per acre on the 80 acres($16,000). this means you would still be elgible for $34,000. let’s say you get $500 per cow in subsidy. that means you could get paid $34,000 on 68 cattle to reach the $50,000 cap. there you have it. you farm 80 acres of hay and 68 cattle. a nice family farm with a stable income.
my idea is twice as good as the criminals in washington. if they had one brain cell or one ounce of care they would follow this simple and effective plan that i have laid out.
2bwise Reply:

Even though I understand your point I still don’t agree with it. You don’t need subsidies you need to get paid what you’re worth. You & your customers need to agree to a price. My position is that the gov’t shouldn’t be telling people like you how to run your business. You know how to run your business better than any gov’t bureaucrat ever could. I’d even bet your know people that would buy from you without the gov’t sticking their nose in it.
Teach Reply:

And rightly said. If YOU ran your own business and came to a proper balance with your customers, there would be no need for subsidies and the government control that accompanies them. You’d be far better off to work towards that end in sight.

I know the article is mostly about farming but I worked 13 & 1/2 years for a Bricklayer & he always “refused” to take any gov’t work. He told me that it’s too much hassle. This is why I understand completely why any business owner would refuse gov’t contract(s).
Danny Cunnington Reply:

The problem is that the subsidies is the way that the corporations have gained top down control. If you get a currency meltdown subsidized farming is dead in the water. It’s certainly true that Europe has more support from small farmers. This is because of the starvation they experienced in WW2. The US has never had this experience. If you want to stop starvation and famine you have to start with the small independent food producers who can form communities and don’t need chemicals and fertilizer inputs or subsidies.
When you can gain food independence in this way you output cannot be stopped or curtailed by broken supply chains and government can’t close you down by withdrawing subsidies. You can trade and swap produce locally without middlemen. This keeps the food wealth in the community and undiluted.
The future is small scale and local. It’s the only system that can survive major disruption, warfare and economic turmoil. Anything that can be controlled from above will be toast.

The Death Program…And How To Stop It!
Ages 0-9
You are told the average life span of a human.. This imprints your conscious mind with a “Death Program” for (literally) the rest of your life.
Ages 10-19
This is the decade of New Beginnings. These are your teen years when you are out exploring the world, never giving much thought to the Death Program that is now running through your subconscious mind. You may have to answer a question or two about this is your science class from time to time.
Ages 20- 29
This is the decade of Duality. You learn the positive and negatives of life as you enter into adulthood. The Death Program is running but you tend to block it out of your conscious mind until you approach the end of your 20s. Then you start thinking about what you haven’t accomplished, realizing that “the rest of your life” isn’t that long!
Ages 30-39
This is the decade of Perfection of earlier learning. The Death Program speeds up. It tells you that your life is most likely half-over. You worry about your health (worry creates dis-ease) and start to notice how others are “aging” compared to you. You may help contribute to a worthy health cause—walking for cancer awareness, raising money for MS, donating blood, etc. because you realize that “some day this may be you.” Women reach the end of their child-bearing years. They are now “old.”
Ages 40-49
This is the decade of Physical Reality. Often your financial picture improves or the direction you need to go in life becomes clearer. In the meantime, the Death Program creates mid-life crises, saying that you are officially in middle age. You decide you better take better care of your health so you don’t wind up like everyone else you know. You read the health articles wherever you see them to make sure you don’t have the symptoms of some dreaded disease. These articles often promote fear, and fear creates dis-ease.
Ages 50-59
This is the decade of self-healing. You have now lived long enough that you consider yourself “wiser” than those with less life experience. You no longer care as much about what others think. You speak out easier for yourself. You may have more time for yourself as you settle into your career. You feel more confident and competent—until the AARP mailings and retirement brochures start rolling in, depicting little old bent over people with canes. The Death Program goes visual and you fight you response.
Ages 60-69
This is the decade to end the series of cycles that may be running your life. This is the opportunity to end the old—which some people manifest as the end of good health, the end of viable relationships, the end of careers, and the Death Program says you are getting closer to the end of your life—better get prepared. People reach retirement age—they are now cast aside and are “old.”
Ages 70-79
This is the decade of Completion. According to the Death Program now becoming increasingly active, what you learned as a child is about to come true. You are reaching the end of the life span of the average human. You either give in or do your best to beat the odds. Most people forget that Completion means one door closing and another opening—unless it is the door to Heaven.
Ages 80-89
This is the decade of your Oversoul. Your Oversoul is your point of origin out of the Mind of God (or your Higher Power, if you prefer that verbiage). This is the decade when you most naturally consciously connect to your power Source. Rather than stay here and utilize this powerful and natural connection, what a great time for the Death Program to kick in, telling you its time to connect in another reality.
Ages 90-99
This is the decade that ends all cycles since birth. If you haven’t left yet, it’s time for the “big heave-ho” to get out the door. Otherwise, what a wealth of information and history you contain! If you are still healthy and of sound mind, what an influence you could be to the “new crop” of worker bees arriving into this reality, now ages 0-9. The Death Program is running full speed ahead now, pushing you right through Heaven’s Gate.
Ages 100 Plus
New beginnings –but the Death Program has already shown you that you do not want to live this long. You will be alone, ill, and with no one to take care of you. They do NOT want you to be a LIVING STOREHOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE that can influence generations. The Death Program is designed so that you absolutely DO NOT follow through on this path of New Beginnings—if you make it this far.
…AND HOW TO STOP IT!
Refuse to participate in the DEATH PROGRAM!
Ancient peoples, from the Bible to Atlantis and Lemuria were rumored to have lived for hundreds of years—what happened??
Develop your awareness that the Death Program exists for a reason. Refuse to participate and learn to reverse the process. Ancient peoples, from Biblical Times to Atlantis and Lemuria were rumored to have lived for hundreds of year –is this a possibility for you, too?
Release your experiences as they occur up to their point of origin –your Oversoul, God-Mind, or whatever you call your Higher Power. Carrying the experiences of your past fills you up, creates weight, changes relationships, redirects career paths, affects financial pictures, distorts the mind and body, and recreates the beautiful body into which you were born into something else.
If you don’t empty out while you are here so you are ready for year 100, then you need to go out of the body to do this—and the Death Program wins again.
Your mind is the most effective tool you have for building yourself up or tearing yourself down. You have the tool. You already own it. It is FREE. Use it appropriately and the Death Program turns on Itself, killing IT instead of YOU!

Hell, everything is controlled by the state, you cant even drive down the street in a car you paid for, on roads you paid for, without government permission! We cant go and work without a social insurance number, we cant drive without a license, cant fly without a passport, we cant go fishing or hunting without a permit, cant grow our own food and sell it without permission, we cant even walk down the street nowadays without some government ID.
One of the most ridiculous things ever known to free humanity is “free speech zones”..well, you cant say what you want here, but you can there!” How dumb do we need to be to accept this? Or what about another scam, car insurance. . You pay and pay and pay, and just in case something happens. Now, if nothing happens..shouldnt I get my money back? No, of course not, and we’ve come to a point now where theyll impound your car if you dont have insurance on it..
It is clear, the government and the banks owns you, they own your house, your car, your life..theyll take everything away from you, your house, your car, your kids.. if you dont abide by their rules. The minute we are born, we enter into the BEAST system..thats what a birth certificate is for. We grow up learning the way of the BEAST, and how to best contribute to the BEAST..get a job that serves the BEAST because most jobs do, and you do your time, get to retire at 65 when your too old to really enjoy life..and you die 10 years later. This is the nature of the BEAST system we live in.
You would think that being human beings, with love and creativity, that we could develop a better system than this. We dont need this. If humanity was empowered, and loving, and righteous, noble and honourable, we wouldnt need any of this. We wouldnt need police to keep the peace, we wouldnt need courts and lawyers to solve our little squabbles. We wouldnt need doctors to heal our self created diseases. We wouldnt need militaries to wage war, and government to control our lives. If we really were mature, aware and alive..life could be so much different. If we all were allowed to share in the massive abundance of this planet, thered be no need for poverty and crime and lack..if we all, at birth, were given the tools we needed to create the life we desired..imagine the kind of society we would create, as loving and creative human beings? Imagine if our love and creativity was not sucked out of us as children!
This BEAST system is designed to keep us unempowered, weak, shallow little people..who need a authority figure to tell them how to live. We wouldnt need things like money if we knew what we were doing. If we knew how to get along and respect one another, man, this BEAST system would have nothing to work with! It is perpetrating divisions and fear amongst the people that keeps us trapped within it.
This is ending, we are waking up, we will prosper and become the true beings we are. We will create a world of wonder, and become the galactic society we are destined to become, because this is the will of God, and GOD ALWAYS WINS! You hear that, illuminati scum, GOD ALWAYS WINS! You have been allowed your free will to create havoc, because God knew it would be for the greater benefit of soul-ular evolution of humanity, but God never intended this to last forever!
Now is the time when the impossible will happen..for centuries people clamoured for a better way, they spent their lives toiling in the fields, wondering why life was so miserable and if things would ever change. Now is the time when it will change! We will take back our power and being true human beings! Not cogs in the wheel of the NWO. We all know this, we all chose to come here to be apart of this, and do our part to help our fellow mankind evolve. It is a great time to be alive!

You’re right, John.
Ever notice God always gives the evil cockroaches LOTS of slack
in the rope before He HANGS ‘em with it?
That’s so on judgment day when they’re about to be tipped into
hell nobody can say “NO FAIR!”

I have always defended Alex Jones.
I would like Alex to remove that papist bulls--- up above on this website. Wherein
“it” states at the bottom of that website that ” there is no salvation outside the roman
catholic church. ”
This ofcourse, is a joke. As long as this link is on his website – he has just lost a tremendous amount of his credibility.
