    WASHINGTON — A Justice Department plan would loosen restrictions on the Federal Bureau of Investigation to allow agents to open a national security or criminal investigation against someone without any clear basis for suspicion, Democratic lawmakers briefed on the details said Wednesday.

    The plan, which could be made public next month, has already generated intense interest and speculation. Little is known about its precise language, but civil liberties advocates say they fear it could give the government even broader license to open terrorism investigations.

    Congressional staff members got a glimpse of some of the details in closed briefings this month, and four Democratic senators told Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey in a letter on Wednesday that they were troubled by what they heard.

      Geez, more great news out of our almighty government and won’t we all be SO much safer because of it??? It has become completely obvious to me (especially over the past 24 months) that this government is more a threat to our personal liberties and freedoms than ANY other “outside” threat has EVER been!

      Everything about our government has gone absolutely haywire and out of control, and it’s almost as if the elite in BOTH parties are 100% controlled by Satan himself OR severely retarded OR both. This is a scary world we live in and the real shame is that our government is what we all should be MOST afraid of.

      The sad part is that it is not just here in the US, look at the EU, they are more controlled then we are, and that they are also ahead of us the US in this game. Go to England, look at the cameras, the other tracking devices they have.

      Oh yes the microchips are coming, and we will all be worked into the One World Government soon enough, but first we need another terror attack, yeah right, and that will give them the reason for all out martial law, and it will happen in other countries.

      Just wait, it is coming, but I am nuts, at least that is what everyone I know ssys.

      What??! The governement expanding it’s already intrusive powers?

      What a shock. I expected them to get together and say, “Ya know, guys….there are already so many abuses of US citizens, maybe we should consider repealing some of our existing powers instead.”

      The nature of all government is to expand until eventual tyrrany is the outcome.

      Forgive me for stating the obvious, and evidently “obsolete”, that Congress makes the laws, not the “Justice” Department! Now, not only do we have the “unitary executive” dictating to the Congress, but we also have the “(In)Justice” Department dictating to the Congress; and Congress lets these branches of government, what are supposed to be branches of government “checked and balanced” by Congress, get away with it! What a bunch of mealy-mouthed, obsequious, posers (/poseurs), and sold out traitors! With these fakes continuing to be allowed to be a so-called “check and balance”, the republic and all True Freedom is screwed!

      GOD SAVE THE WORLD AND THE U.S.A. FROM ALL CORPORATE COMMUNIST-FASCIST DICTATORS, TYRANTS, OPPRESSORS, DESPOTS, AND/OR DESTROYERS OF LIBERTY AND FREEDOM!!
