New Rapid-Response Forces to Bolster Homeland Defense Mission

Pentagon officials have established a new rapid-response joint task force and plan to create two more in coming years to bolster assistance to civil authorities following potential chemical, biological or nuclear attacks or natural disasters, a senior U.S. official said here yesterday.
The new units will team with other federal agencies in support of local responders following chemical, biological or nuclear terror attacks on the homeland or during natural disasters, Paul McHale, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and Americas’ security affairs, told American Forces Press Service and Pentagon Channel reporters.
The establishment of the new units “builds upon a decade of improving [Defense Department] capabilities to deal with a domestic terrorist attack involving a weapon of mass destruction,” McHale said.
The first new 4,700-member task force was assigned to a component of U.S. Northern Command on Oct. 1, McHale said. The new unit, he said, is built around a core of active-duty soldiers from the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Stewart, Ga. This task force, he said, falls under the control of Northcom’s Joint Force Land Component Command, U.S. Army North, in San Antonio.

Plans are to stand up the other two new joint task forces in 2010 and 2011, respectively, McHale said. These units, he said, mostly will comprise reserve component personnel from all the military services.
Each task force will be capable of performing tasks such as medical response, decontamination, technical rescue, patient evacuation, and communications and logistics support, to include air and land transportation assets for transport of supplies, people and equipment, according to U.S. Army North documents.
The task forces would be ordered into action by the president, McHale said, following requests for disaster-relief assistance from state governors.
The new units, he emphasized, do not conduct law-enforcement missions. In the event of civil disturbances and some other types of national emergencies, he said, other designated U.S. military units could be ordered by the president to help civil authorities establish order as part of the Garden Plot domestic security plan.
The Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States prompted U.S. officials to consider whether existing National Guard-staffed civil support teams could provide enough resources to support civil authorities during multiple catastrophic events, McHale said.
McHale said 9/11 also “was the genesis for the creation of U.S. Northern Command.” Northcom, he said, is responsible for homeland defense of the continental U.S. and Alaska, while U.S. Pacific Command is responsible for Hawaii. Air Force Gen. Victor E. Renuart Jr. commands Northcom as well as North American Aerospace Defense Command, which are co-located at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colo.
National Guard-staffed civil support teams were developed through a Pentagon initiative dating to the mid-1990s. Today, there are 53 civil support teams distributed across the United States, McHale said. These 22-member units, he said, are trained to test for chemical, biological or nuclear contamination in the event of a weapons-of-mass-destruction-attack on the United States.
Additionally, Marine Corps-operated emergency-response units that specialize in relief operations are available during chemical, biological and nuclear attacks, he said.

Join a airsoft or paintball group, or form one. Study all the guerilla manuals and army/marine corp small unit tactics manuals and practice them. Sign up for an appleseed shoot(www.rwva.org)and learn to make every round count out to at least 500 yards. Hit the torrents and download military manuals along with how to books on everything from agriculture to manufacturing to survivalism. Be sure you use a public access computer and never log on with your own id. Scout out and have a place with a spring as a camp spot to bug out in case of raids. Toughen up-lift, run with weights as your pack and rifle will get heavy, camp out.

I dont care what preperation you do. This is not a game simply of skill, technology overcomes all (if it is so many times greater.)
If we don’t have stuff like that fully auto shotgun shown in that youtube video…we are screwed. thats just a shotgun for infantry urban warfare. m1 abrams tanks have always been more devastating. do you have one of those? do you have armor piercing rounds and armor piercing explosives? i doubt you do.
Cmon people this is not WWII or earlier. Military technology has grown so great that we wont stand a chance if this happens. Unless of course the military somehow splits. but i hate to scare you, but it is just reality.

J. Croft you have the right Idea, and Roklut while I agree that technology will not be on our side, it does have it’s limitations. You cite that they have a fully automatic shotguns and tanks, but yet cave-dwellers in Pakistan with standard arms are giving them a run for their money.
Our biggest weapon, as is theirs, is not a gun, missile, or a tank; its the control of public opinion.
If only 1% of Americans stand united against this tyranny we would have a fighting force of over 3,000,000. I don’t care what kind of technology you have against a force of that magnitude, you can’t kill all of them.
The reason that I state this is because the more tyrants kill and arrest patriots, that many more families will be affected, and the the more families that are affected the more people join the ranks. Iraq would be the best example. While the main battle was fairly short lived the biggest problem, which caused Bush to call in additional troops, was the resistance of ordinary people who’s lives were affected by the tyranny.
It is an never ending battle. The more they kill the larger our numbers grow. Unfortunately, this also works in reverse.
If any form of our Republic will remain standing the first thing that must occur is the division of states from the Union.

I know that this isn’t the article in which to be placing this comment, but I felt that is was important nonetheless. I was listening to Alex yesterday when he was interviewing Tex Marrs. They arrived at the subject of luciferian hand signs and the Codex Magica. It was stated that world leaders and corporate CEOs often give this certain hand sign. I also know that Alex and many of us are Ron Paul supporters. However, I did a little investigating, and Mr. Paul flashes the same hand sign over and over. #21 re: Portland is the least “connected” city in America. What I mean by that is, if you LOOK at ALL the DHS/FEMA/DOD/CIA private contracters Portland has the LEAST amount of PHYSICAL presence. To the evil rogue feds this makes it the perfect “patsy” city when they N , B, or C us. REMEMBER Portland was used in the last TOPOFF drill. To them it is DISPOSABLE. Also my extensive research leads me to believe DALLAS, TEXAS is the MOST safest. It has the MOST concentration of military/industrial private contractors. One suspicious red flag was when the FLUOR Corp moved from southern cal to DALLAS. They spent 100 million dollars relocating and bought and built a 26 acre campus near DFW. The final revelation came when Pres. Bush moved to Dallas, but not just anywhere he stategically moved near DFW and ALL the other FEMA/DHS contracters. DALLAS is blessed for now by TPTB, but PORTLAND is cursed. I hope I’m not right, but it does’nt look good.

Please maintain vigilance fellow citizens, things can get very convoluted and confusing in the face of desperate times of survival, and under pressure of dirty tactics by enemies from within and from the outside.
Notice the article did not say anything about the potential to use these efforts against any USA Citizens who stand their ground on following the Constitution and who do not obey any “alleged special orders” from any government branch, or foreign/corporate action, or a special foreign/corporate government treaty.
By the way any so called special orders or special powers that are not inline with the Constitution are legitimately subject to review, formal complaints, and out right refusal depending on the conditions and how they are conveyed. For example, a USA Citizen has the right to check the status of search warrant and if there is not a legitimate search warrant then any search should not take place in accordance with the Constitution. This raises the proverbial question since the beginning of the nation, “If a questionable action by any Government Representative is viewed as NOT Constitutional, then what expedient action should by taken by either a USA Citizen or by another Government Reprehensive?”
In my opinion, the USA Government should primarily be concerned for keeping the USA Constitution in tact with ALL OF ITS Rights for USA Citizens, and to allow the USA Citizens to decide what is best for themselves in regard to their own choices for expression of ideas, religion, philosophy, food, clothing, location of living, personal protection, medical care, travel, and in how they choose to use their own property.
The USA Government does not have any rights either implicit or direct to force the USA Citizens to take arbitrary orders, or to live in communes, or to please foreign powers.
