The kerfuffle about current New York Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Stephen Friedman’s purchase of some Goldman stock while the Fed was involved in reviewing major decisions about Goldman’s future—well-covered by the Wall Street Journal here and here—raises a fundamental question about Wall Street’s corruption. Just as the millions in AIG bonuses obscured the much more significant issue of the $70 billion-plus in conduit payments authorized by the N.Y. Fed to AIG’s counterparties, the small issue of Friedman’s stock purchase raises very serious issues about the competence and composition of the Federal Reserve of New York, which is the most powerful financial institution most Americans know nothing about.

Given the power of the N.Y. Fed, it is time to ask some very hard questions about its recent performance. The first question to ask is: Who is the New York Fed? Who exactly has been running the show? Yes, we all know that Tim Geithner was the president and CEO of the N.Y. Fed from 2003 until his ascension as treasury secretary. But who chose him for that position, and to whom did he report? The N.Y. Fed president reports to, and is chosen by, the Fed board of directors.

ever since I saw ‘freedom to fascism’ . I tried to debunk the movie. But eventually I couldn’t. it amazes me how so few people know about the Fed.
it’s Unreal I went through life not knowing the influence the federal reserve has on society, and it’s not even a Government agency. it’s as federal as federal express.

We need to start a solid effort to end the Federal Reserve. The country has simply gotten too big and complexed for a few flawed humans to run monetary policy in the 21st century. I say we start holding civic ( no feds involved ) town hall meetings and come up with ideas of and eventually resolutions to give Congress back the power to print money. We need to be realistic and open-minded. We will get economists, lawyers, firefighters, school teachers and truck drivers to brainstorm ideas. We should be able to transition a plan within 10 years. We need to learn from the past to fortify our future. The power to print money will have to involve the average Joe ( you and I ) so we can have transparency in such a delicate structure of our financial as well as social well being. We in essence create a fourth branch of Government and the People involved with it. In replacing the Fed, Congress and the People will guarantee that the atrocities that the american society was put through do not repeat again. I think we should set up a date to which several meetings around the country formulate to this needed transformation. The Federal Reserve was good for its time. Simply put, it has become obsolete and degenerate for all intended purposes. I think a 10 year transition process is realistic but we need to start now. Simply tell Bernanke and crew his services are no longer needed.

Speaking of “hell” has anyone noticed that funny looking ILLUMINATED eye thing directly symbolic of the Ancient Egyptian god of the underworld Osiris?
Of course the Round Table Groups and the ILLUMINATED Order of Skull and Bones supplied many of the “experts” who came up the “Federal” “Reserve” system. Both can be traced back to Ancient Egypt as well. Many Austrian scholars have chronicled the power of the New York Federal Reserve. In the past, it has dominated the other reserve branches. It was initially controlled by J.P. Morgan during WWI. Many Americans are still unaware of the historical facts regarding the concentrated power of the NY bankers over the Fed and our monetary policies.

I am trying to understand how some people in this country (US) actually distrust anyone who speaks about conspiracies. These people actually do not believe that the criminal elements do not conspire. They particularly do not believe that international banks could do such a thing. Additionally these people believe that anyone interested in the international bank conspiracies are “nutty”. Here in lies one of the biggest problems we have in fighting the owners of the federal reserve.

I just want to respond to the statement that the “fed is as federal as federal express.” The Fed although a quasi independent institution is not entirely private as a normal private bank is, such as JP Morgan. Any profits that the Fed makes is put right back into the Treasury. So the Fed is still a government entity. But it is very true that many Americans don’t know about the the Reserve System, unless you’re a business student, or work in Finance and many other business professions.

Well we wouldnt know if profits are being put back into the Treasury or not.
The Fed was created to remove congressional oversight from the printing and distribution of our money. This was and should be the responsibility of the Treasury.
The way out of this federal reserve mess is to have a single coin struck in the value of the entire national bebt, walk it down there and hand it to them. Done, paid and let them spend it all at Wallmart.
