Andrew Revkin, who reports on environmental issues for The New York Times, floated an idea last week for combating global warming: Give carbon credits to couples that limit themselves to having one child.
Revkin later told CNSNews.com that he was not endorsing the idea, just trying to provoke some thinking on the topic.
Revkin participated via Web camera in an Oct. 14 panel discussion on “Covering Climate: What’s Population Got to Do With It” that was held at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. The other participants on the panel were Dennis Dimick, executive editor of National Geographic, and Emily Douglas, web editor for The Nation magazine.

Don’t they teach kids in grade school anymore that plants breathe CO2? So why is creating breathable air for plants so bad? Ever notice how well people and plants do together in a closed house in winter? It does wonders for the air quality. There is a give take relationship between plants and people. There is no need to change anything. The world was built by God to perfectly work in harmony without the need for us to interfere or second guess our reproduction, be fruitful and replenish the earth. All we need to do is get big NWO corporations to stop making GMO foods, stop chem-trailing us, stop poisoning our water supplies, and stop creating false conflicts to keep us in global crisis.

Indeed. With 40 years of planetary cooling to look forward to, due to a cylce the sun is now in, we may be better served by producing all the CO2 we can. CO2 is good for plants, and plants are good for us. For all we know, we might be better off with more, not less.
I do however believe in eliminating toxic pollutants and in keeping a clean, healthy environment. I also believe in conserving natural resources, and keeping our footprint small, as a matter of general principle, not because I fear global warming or cooling.

Obviously you don’t when you espouse their views. I think people should have as many kids as they want and can support. Over time this builds a nation of strong families which is what we need. Not all these single people, and barren selfish couples who treat their dogs like kids and have no empathy compassion or moral compass. Who would rather spend their money on big screen TVs and vacations than share in the love and beauty of raising children. I’m a single guy and I say this because I see kids and I can’t wait to have a few. There should be no government intervention. Eliminate welfare and people will naturally have only as many as they can reasonably handle. Its as simple as that. You’ve been brainwashed to think kids are bad because you see nothing on the news and media but people like octomom who abuse the system and use the govt to support them.

Exuse me? But ‘barren, selfish’ couples? Some of us don’t want children. As much as I agree with everything else you’ve said, there is nothing wrong with NOT having children. It is a choice, and some of us choose no. I’m female, and lack a motherly instinct, and I was lucky enough to find a man that feels the same way I do, that I can share my life with. Have as many as you want, but stop judging people that choose to remain child-free.

Fuck their “carbon credits.” This is all based on a lie; i.e., that carbon dioxide causes “global warming.” In the first place, carbon dioxide doesn’t cause atmospheric warming. It builds up in RESPONSE to atmospheric warming. Secondly, we’ve been in a cooling cycle since 1997 and this expected to continue for another 30 years. Third, there have been periods in the past in which it was far warmer than it has been in recent decades, and there have been cooling periods, as well. The earth’s climate changes are cyclical and occur due to natural causes that have been occurring since long before any humans walked the earth. In the middle ages, it was warmer than it is now and this was centuries prior to the industrial revolution.
“Carbon credits” and the “carbon tax” are simply a means of bankrupting western society and imposing harsh controls over us all.

Do no entertain this idea, it’s wrong and immoral. Who is the government (or the people in control of gov’t) to tell a couple they can not have more than one child? If their happiness depends on having more than one child then they should be able to do it. Are there stupid teenagers who get pregnant multiples times and have next to midly retarded children…sure, are there bad parents who can not afford to take care of children they already have, but yet decide to pop out a few more anyway…. sure.
However these are not reasons for one child policies, and forced steralizations. There will always be stupid people, that is a fact. During the few decades I’ve lived on this planet, I’ve noticed the climate hasn’t changed one bit. Some years are colder. Some years are warmer. Some years there’s more rain and snow. Some years there’s less rain and snow. Sometimes the weather seems weird, but it’s extremely rare for something out of the ordinary to happen. It’s not like the aurora borealis is shining down in Dallas, you know? So, I’m pretty sure the whole issue of climate change is sheer bollox.

to Steve: let me educate you about some stuff, Steve.
1. Scientists have done experiments blowing C02 on corn and guess what, the corn was NOT able to absorb the extra C02. Surprise surprise, but there is actually a limit to how much C02 plants will absorb. What a shock, eh? So extra C02 doesn’t have anyplace to go but into the atmosphere.
2. After trees die, they begin to release C02 that they have absorbed. So dead plants release C02. What a shock too, eh? Only live plants utilize C02 and only at the amount they need it.
3rd, I live in Southeastern Europe in Bulgaria, and I dont know about any global cooling. As a matter of fact we had record temperatures this summer and we have been having them for 3-7 years now. So yes global warming is real. I am experiencing it. I talk to Brits who live here now and they tell me the climate in UK has changed too, now instead of snow they have mostly rain in Scotland for example. The climate in Germany has changed too. Climates are changing all over I just dont understand how people will not admit it. The only question is WHY they wont admit it?

If you look into the history of the earth you will see that the earth cycles through periods of warming and cooling, and it absolutely does not correspond only to CO2 levels. To take that stance is to be accepting a falsified and dumbed-down explaination for the warming and cooling cycles. Yes the climate can warm, and cool… depending on which cycle the earth is going through, this is earth’s way of balancing itself out.
However to ascribe it to man entirely is idiocy. So now I will refer to the part where you ask, why wont they admit it. I just answered your question, now I expect you to answer a redefined version of your own question: Why wont you who are accepting the ‘man-made’ lie about global warming admit it is only a ploy to embezzle/extort money and to consolidate all countries under one ruling body…with all the evidence why wont you just admit it already? What evidence well in december the UN will expect Obama to sign a treaty… lately everyone knows where to find that at and what that’s about. So let me refer you to this document from ‘the world bank’

My family uses fewer resources and has a smaller carbon footprint per person than the eco control freaks calling for this nonsense. We use less square footage of housing per person, get more people miles per gallon in our vans, etc., than these activists who live higher on the hog than we. We take no government aid, either.
