Michael Laws – who stirred up controversy by calling the late Tongan King a “bloated brown slug” – has again hit the headlines.
“That there is a group within our society who give their children no hope nor opportunity from the moment that they are born,” the regional mayor wrote on the New Zealand radio website where he broadcasts as a talkback DJ.
“That these ‘parents’ are known to authorities … and yet the authorities can only intervene after children have been harmed.”
Mr Laws goes on to write: “it would be far better for this appalling underclass to be offered financial inducements not to have children, given the toxic environment that they would provide for any child in their care.”

Not Me, Would one not hope that life is not started in poverty and not wanted? Would we wish upon any child any type of abuse being so scarred that one can not move beyond it, let alone get over it? You can not possibly know unless you have experienced it. I am 62 yrs. old and to this day can not get over it, past it. I only wish I could. It demoralizes one’s self esteem, takes away your soul, your innocence. As you grow you guess at what is normal, because you don’t know. It is too much to explain. Mayby it sounds horrible to many of you what this man has stated. Some people should not have children as they are messed up. Mayby there should be a license and oversight to have them! Man’s inhumanity to his fellow man. In this case his very own blood. If you don’t like this idea he speaks of do you have a better one?

New Zealand has some of the most corrupt politicians and police in the world. There was one ridiculous case where paedophilia claims were made against childcare workers. The claims were found to be baseless and children coerced to make statements. The case was high profile so they had to get someone for it. They imprisoned the ‘gay guy’ with no evidence.
John Barlow was also imprisoned for the execution style murders of the Thomases based on no weapon, no blood evidence, no bullet matching, and no motive.
The Thomases had death threats from clients but Barlow was their friend!
They had 3 trials as 2 were hung juries (talk about reasonable doubt!!) The only new evidence in the 3rd trial was bullet matching by the FBI in the USA which was later found to be baseless. The crown smuggled in a crown negotiator to the position of foreman of the jury and Barlow was convicted.
Barlow appealed to the Privy Council but prior to the case was heard, the Privy Council registrar Mary MacDonald was suspended mysteriously and then the Council made a policy about turn and quashed the Barlow appeal uncharacteristically citing such non-rational comments as “We believe he’s guilty” without substantiation.
The Privy Council, the highest legal recourse authority for citizens within the British colonies has now been compromised. The New Zealand Government as an NWO flunky, asked a favour, and it was granted.

Child abuse happens in all social classes not just the “slums” Yes in families where poverty is prevelant it’s more likely to occur. However, unfortunately it happens in all social classes. Maybe he needs to do more to educate parents and caregivers about handling situations before the abuse happens.

I’m all in favor of giving a financial bonus to women who have their second child while on welfare to get fixed. I only have two children because that’s all I could afford and raise them in a middle class enviroment. Also, deadbeat dads, fix them if their behind a year on two childrens support payments. I actually just read something about Europeans pretty much stealing the land from the indigenous people that lived there for thousands of years. The people native people are known as the Maoris and experienced pretty much the same thing as the Native Americans did here. Land stolen and now the Europeans are trying to get them to not breed. Since everyone on this site talks a lot about justice, what are you going to do for Native Americans? Since your ancestors decimated their populations, sterilized them, raped their women, stole their land, and did countless other evil things to them.

KEPT in poverty? Are you kidding me? There is absolutely NO reason for poverty in NZ unless someone chooses it for themself! NZ is still a land of opportunity if you can just be bothered getting off your behind and actually do something. The government offers free courses and training, job seeker skills, numerous benefits, healthcare and acc, housing, free dental treatment to all children under 18, the list goes on and on.
What they’ve done is accepted their “lot in life” and decided to not bother to do anything about it! My dad has a church in South Auckland ( no, not Destiny church) and the vast majority of his congregation are Pacific Islanders or Maoris. He works with them everyday and the vast majority of it is changing their mind set.
But hey Lunatic if you call poverty smoking pot and cigarettes, drinking down the pub every weekend, pokies and gambling – you’re right. But it’s the kids suffering not the parents.

Did it ever enter your mind that THAT may be the cause of the problem? The “stupid, ignorant, low-class” people are given all of these benefits and pay-outs because they need the government’s “help” to survive. One could argue that its more idiotic to actually work hard and pay taxes than it is to sit on your tail collecting Welfare. (but its certainly not right) I have taught my children that it is wrong to judge others, dumb people can have moments of brilliance, and smart people can be breathtakingly stupid; that does not mean we should not discern bad from good and avoid bad. (or support it with gov’t subsidies)
If you believe in evolution, why support these people in any form or fashion? (or worry about the “plight” of the the polar bears either) I just bet you’d see a lot less pot smoking, drinking, and gambling if they had to support themselves.

I think the mayor has a great idea. I see the same crap every day here in the USA, and I think the same thing: Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have children, especially when those children are going to have their whole lives paid for by tax dollars. I don’t like having to pay for other people to raise their children … esepically children who are likely to grow up and become criminals, which will require even more tax dollars to incarcerate. I’d rather pay a lump sum up front and prohibit these people from reproducing. And Yes, there is no question that people from lower socio-economic brackets breed crime at exponential rates. Poor people are often uneducated and have nothing to lose — a dangerous combination. Why not pay them off so they can’t give birth to criminal children who they are just going to abuse anyway?

What Michael Laws is talking about in Wanganui is the horrible outcome of last weekend. A man is in jail because he was involved in a drive by shooting where a bullet hit a toddler and took an innocent life – now about 2 years later, some one of the opposite gang killed his two year old in what appears to be a cruel tit for tat where gangs are related and he is sick and tired of having to deal with the ignorance of them which are predominately Maori and Islanders and the town he’s mayor of has HUGE gang issues! The welfare system is a joke – where on a solo mom’s benefit the more kids you have the more you get! A single mom with 2 kids gets more that I get working a 40 hour week! and a lot of them aren’t even single! But hey, why not because the govenment will pay you a decent wage and you get to stay home, smoke pot, drink and do nothing all day include not look after your own kids. I will state that this is NOT the case with everyone but I see it ALL THE TIME and they are again predominatly Maori/ Islanders.
Even with the anti smaking campaign (which I am against by the way) NZ has had MORE innocent children die by abuse than BEFORE it was passed.
I don’t think he’s talking about Eugenics here – but if some women will have more kids to get paid more maybe they’ll take money to not have kids! And is it so wrong to say some people shouldn’t have kids cause lets face it – some shouldn’t. Note where NZ is ranked on child abuse! It’s all too often I see it on the news where an innocent child is killed by abuse and it’s getting more and more frequent. They are generally under the age of 3 – poor helpless innocent children who have to face more than what most adults can handle. What else can be done? Any other suggestions?
I have been on here for about 3 months now – eye’s wide open and in no way condone eugenics – who get’s to pick who lives or dies… this isn’t about that, it’s more like birth control – if some people can’t use their own common sence to stop having kids they can’t look after financially and/or emotionally what’s wrong with paying them to be sterile? His theory of offering it and paying for it isn’t like he’s saying let’s just randomly start sterilising women. This applies to Maori’s, Islander’s, Pakiha’s and all the other cultures here!

Yes a small child was killed! 2 children were killed in this case and regardless of the colour of their skin, any child that dies is a TRAGEDY! This is not a race issue as the Duke states below it’s a socio-economic issue. I do NOT believe in eugenics, I do NOT believe in superior races, I do NOT think I’m better than everyone else, and I do NOT believe that this is related to Maori’s/ Islanders only. I am NOT saying to go around and force women to be sterilized let alone a specific race.
What I AM saying is that every action has a reaction. Karma, cause and effect, what goes around comes around, the law of nature call it what you want. And if some of these women cannot grasp the concept that if they continue to have unprotected sex, offspring will come there’s a problem! There is such a thing called birth control (but here in NZ abortion is considered a form of it and I find that repulsive) but it’s clearly not being used is some cases.
All I’m saying is if there is a program for sterilization and a woman chooses to have it, what is the problem? Especially if they are PAID to have it or if it’s free because they cannot afford the proceedure?
There are so many unwanted children in this country and CYFS cannot keep up with it. And they’re not unwanted by the public, they are unwanted by the same people who brought them into being! This is merely another option (other than abortion) to a scenario they do not want.

Ive been following Alex alittle since 9-11 but very closely over the past two years. In the begging all my friends and family thought I was crazy. But there is no question that child abuse and crime occur in mich greater quantities in lower socio-econimic classes than in higher classes. It’s because most educated people aren’t poor, and educated people usually don’t beat their children. How many Harvard graduates are in prison? Not many. How many high-school dropouts have served time? A shit load.

The article lays it out clear, New Zealanders have a CHOICE: (1)continue spitting out as many kids as they always have; or (2) take $10,000 but then forfeit your ability to have kids.
It’s no different than birth control pills. A woman can, if she wants, choose to take a pill that will prevent her from having children. No woman is forced to take birth control pills … it’s a decision a woman makes for her own self. Everytime a woman takes birth control pills and has sex, there goes another opportunity that a child may have been conceieved.

I agree to a point. There are some people who simply shouldn’t breed, period. People who will have kids and pay no attention to them, beat them, ect and then the kids grow up to be gangbangers and criminals. Not always, but usually. It would be better for these people to not have kids in the first place if they don’t want them. I have met people who only keep having kids so they can stay on welfare, then they just don’t give a shit about their kid. Have you not met any lowlife idiots? There are definitely people out there that should be paid to not breed in every class of people, rich and poor.
Unfortunately most all of the children that shouldn’t be here are now running countries. Would anyone be sad if Hillary, Pelosi, Obama, Bush, Cheney or any other scum’s parents were paid to not breed? Or how about that gangbanger that mugged me a few years back. I worked in Southern California as a Parent-Infant Special Educator for 11 years, ‘90-’01. I moved from North Dakota where it was all white people and I thought everyone had the same standards and values I had and had experienced. What a wake up call when I saw how differently people live and how culture characteristics can impact families. I was naive and thought all would treat their children with respect, compassion, love and some mode of “normal” discipline (setting boundaries and expectations-not punishment). I was WRONG! Our program served kids from families of all races and all levels of education, social standing, and financial status. Unfortunately there were some families we thought just shouldn’t have kids, mostly due to drug use, gang behavior, low level of education and mental/emotional health issues resulting in child neglect/abuse and probable future juvenile delinquency with many of these children.
His agenda may be suspicious but I am not the idealist I used to be about how wonderful people are.

I’ve lived in New Zealand all my life. It is a fact that some sections of our society are a drain on the economy. That a lot of kids are brought up under the poverty line and their parent, or parents don’t treat them well. Yes, thats true, and it’s terrible. But what that asshole Laws is suggesting is falls right in line with his views on the elderly as well. He was pushing for a ’suicide with dignity’ bill a few years back. He wants anyone that can’t really contribute much…..gone. And as someone wisely pointed out above, just because someone does’nt live in HIS income bracket doesn’t make them any less valuable. Yes that problem needs to be addressed, but not with suggesting depopulation.

It’s the opposite of the US, here it’s a business to have a baby. Single parents get tons of freebies in the US. And if you’re an illegal and you have a baby in the US, it is technically an American and can recieve free welfare, SSI, etc and also prevents the parents from being deported (anchor baby). I know a lot of poor people who get alot of gov’t perks to have kids. In CO you can get an apartment for about $40 if you’re unwed with a kid. A girl can get even more money if they put “unknown” on the birth certificate for father.
Paying people to have kids, or not paying them, either way is disgusting.

I’m pro life but honestly believe there are those who have no business bringing children into this word. Lets face it. There’s far too many who bring these poor unloved children into a world of misery. Young girls getting pregnant outside of marriage is an epidemic with many fathers absent. Most of these children have no future but to sell drugs, join gangs, end up in jail, etc. And the cycle continues on and on.
Why do women want to sleep with men, have their babies, cook and wash for them without a marriage license. When I was younger I’d be damned if I would have done all that without him committing to me and family.
Lets face it. It is what it is. And, the fact that way too many people are too stuck on stupid to see any kind of consequences from their actions is very troubling. We have lost all moral values and turned away from God. So, He has stepped aside. This country has been turned over to a reprobate mind. But, thank God there are some left who get it.

Im a kiwi and heard about the comment laws made on radio yesterday. There is no solution for abuse of children. Thats why I think laws and the like make comments like this! For everyone who blasts this, give me the solutions to stop abuse today, you cannot, I agree with sterilisation if the mother or father kill/maim or deliberately hurt their child. 2 years ago in the town that I live a beautilful toddler named Nia Glassie was beaten, swung around and around on a clothes line, left screaming while all her family laughed, then her father picked her up by the throat until she passed out, teenage boys would slam her to the ground while the practised their wrestling moves on her,, and after a lifetime of this, they threw her in a clothes dryer till she bled from her mouth, She died 4 days later. Now you tell me you FREEDOM FIGHTERS do you think Nia Glassies mother should be PAID to have another baby? She already had her other children removed and put into custody.

This abuse does not happen in just Maori(native peoples) homes I may add. There are “white ” babies killed too. Its just that they never get quite the media coverage that the brown babies do. I happen to agree with the strategy, although it could have been delivered in a less offensive way. Having as many children as you can while living in poverty is just irresponsible. Just because you CAN have 10 kids, doesn’t make it a good idea. If you’ve ever lived through being hungry, cold and filthy you would understand better.
Quality of life should be important to everyone. If the choice is between 10 children living in squalor or 2 living reasonably well, I think we all know the right answer. Ignorance and selfishness can attribute to almost all of the population problems. There will always be those who will act irresponsibly, something has to be done. Fighting for their right to keep having all the kids they want and then turning your back on them isn’t the answer either.

Here in NZ the reasons for most to have children has become blurred. No longer do people here have children to continue the family line but more often than not, they have children to collect money from the state. The more kids the more money, thats how we have mothers with three different fathers to their children and able to collect upto $500 a week with no checks and balances to see how the money is spent. Most spend the money on smokes, drugs and alcohol and the Government turns a blind eye, how did we think that this wouldn’t go wrong. We should bring in a licensing system to ensure that people have kids for the right reasons and unfit parents denied the chance to have any with a system in place for the Gov to enforce how money is spent. Common sense is not that common!

If you will take a look at the average, native born American, American’s in general have been practicing good family planning for at least a generation now. Birthrates for native born Americans stabilized a good while back. Where the real problem is, is with illegals and immigration by people that have way too many kids.
The real solution is to close our borders and if we did that it would solve overpopulation in this country. It does not matter if native American born citizens practice good family planning, when the illegals and immigrants are out doing us three to one. Add to that, millions more cross the border ever year illegally and so our numbers in this country keep climbing, regardless of what educated US citizens do. And to add insult to injury, the Fed wants us to pay for all the excess cost of this mess.

I do not see anything superior about Michael Laws himself, that should give him anymore breeding rights than anyone else.
In fact his hatefull disposition towards others is a real indication of defective genes and an emotionally stunted brain, the likes of which should be put on the list of, “undesirable traits,” targeted for elimination through advanced eugenics and selection programs.
The Nazi mentality has long been recognized as a severe form of derranged thinking and is most likely due to a genetic flaw where some primitive tribes from man’s ancestry continued to breed with a homocidal subspecies of carnivorous chimpanzee. They are just plain mean people and the carnavore ape tribes north of the Amazon are the exact same way – the mean version and it’s a genetic trait.

how about figuring out how to put birth control into the water and you apply to get the antidote. to qualify for that you must take courses, then pass an exam to get a license to have children. of course you also must be financially able to provide for each child.

Change of subject…I need to vent. Its so important that the American People take back control of the government and make those we elected accountable to “Us” as they should be. So much of our resources financial, social and medical all tied in together are being spent on vast numbers ILLEGALS (I see this EVERYDAY) yet so many of our own citizens get turned away for services if they don’t come from the “right jurisdiction”.We are being systematically robbed-usurped of our identity-it’s painful to watch. Although I’m aware that their is a “Bigger Picture” here, of forces who are working to undermine our way of life such as the greedy imperialist Fed, and the top 1 percent etc, none the less when I see see so many “Hispan-Spics” (I’m venting) they symbolize the Mexification/latinization of this country. While the rich get richer “We the people” whom are descendants of the indigenous, slaves and settlers are being cheated of our hard fought for posterity…
These people don’t give a damn out America and what gives us our identity, all they care about is what they can get from us. DEPORT THEM ALL-I don’t give a rats ass about their children being born here ,send them all back. I am not even ceartain what this man is talking about. Is he talking about poor people who physicaly abuse their children, child abusing parents in general,who come from all socioeconomic classes,or is he implying that all impoverished parents are abuasive simply because they are unable to provide the material oppourtunities to their children to the same extent as wealther parents?
One thing is ceartain, for tens of thousands of years children recieved most of their education by interacting with nature,adults and each other. With the commodification and commercialization of nature and every aspect of life ,an official state sponcered,state sactionend commercialy orientaited and expensive education is now nessacary for a child to even hope to have any succsess in life.Now of course this is not true for the ruling corporate elite,who have for the most part claimed ownership of even nature,therby assuring their children wealth and comfort regardless of level of education involved.In essence we can thank the ruling classes for the fact that the poor in this so called advanced age have so little to offer their young.

This man is a hero! His idea is logically sound, fiscally responsible and humanitarian. Everyone will be happy – the taxpayers, the neighbors, the abusive parents (who get cash rather than kids), and the unborn kids (who will never be tortured, starved and beaten) – well, everyone will be happy except two groups:
1. The government parasites who make a living off social services (and hence have a vested interest in a steady flow of abused children and “oppressed minorities”); and
2. The POLITICALLY CORRECT crowd, who are incapable of rational thought and live their lives wringing their hands that someone, somewhere might feel bad about something (if they are a minority).
Notably, this approach also has the added bonus of being voluntary, as I presume the procreators-to-be can elect the cash or the child, at their option. Anyone who disagrees with Mr. Law’s approach is, quite simply, either mad, abjectly stupid or stands to profit from the status quo.
