Newark Mayor Encourages Snitches to Turn In Gun Owners

The mayor of Newark, New Jersey, is offering $1,000 to anybody who anonymously provides information on “illegal guns” in the city. In a video on posted on the City of Newark web page, the “Honorable” Cory A. Booker declares guns on the streets are unacceptable and he is offering the cash incentive to snitches.

However, there is a very obvious problem with the mayor’s program — how will the snitches tell the difference between an illegal and legal gun? How will the police tell the difference between a gang-banger with an illegal gun and a citizen exercising his or her right under the Second Amendment?
The federal government encourages the sort of snitch behavior promoted by Newark’s mayor.
Greedy snitches will call in “tips” on everybody who owns a firearm. In fact, Booker’s video would have us believe all firearms are illegal. Booker makes the distinction near the end of the video, not that it matters — the distinction will be lost on snitches interested only in pocketing a thousand bucks (the mayor waves a fantail of cash in the video to make his point and entice the snitches).
It is a situation destined for tragedy. How will the police and gung-ho SWAT teams tell the difference between legal and illegal firearms? How many innocent people will be arrested, harassed, treated like criminals for the crime of owning a firearm? New Jersey has a concealed carry law. How many people exercising that right will be attacked by Booker’s police? How many of them will have their legal weapons confiscated? How many of them will be shot down by trigger-happy cops?
Finally, this country’s insane “zero tolerance” drug laws are the primary reason there are gang-bangers on the streets with illegal weapons killing each other and innocents caught up in the crossfire.
Booker would do better to decriminalize drugs in his city instead of creating a snitch culture that will ultimately end up in more dead people.

I noticed this, too, right off the bat (as I was intended to). It puts the message into your subconscious that, if you own a gun, you go to jail, whether or not that gun is an “illegal” one or not.
The fact is, every gun control law passed since the National Firearms Act of 1934 has been a flagrant infringement of the Second Amendment and, thus, a violation of the Constitution. In short, every gun law is totally illegitimate. The Second Amendment – which isn’t even about guns, per se – does not make any stipulations as to what types of weapons (arms) we may have, who may have them, or when, when or how we may have, or what we may do or not do with them. This is because the Second Amendment is about protecting your existing right to self-defense, which is a natural extension of your existing right to life.
So, the idea that ANY guns are “illegal” is entirely bogus, founded upon illegitimate laws that are in full violation of the Constitution, which is the law of the land.

I didn’t listen to the show today. I didn’t have enough Pepto Bismol left to stomach another full frontal assault of Christian propaganda. So who did Alex Jones attack today? I agree with most of what Alex says but I’m getting sick of this as well. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and separation of church and state; ideals that everyone here pays lip service to? The Christian proselytizing needs to end. I believe in freedom of speech, but I think most people checking out this forum for the first time who aren’t born again will be totally turned off. Also, many people listening to Alex for the first time will be turned off as well by his hyper-emotional tirades and constant interruption of guests.
To be fair, I agree with about 90% of what Alex says and we do need him and alot more like him, but this forum and his radio show need to stop sounding like the rantings of some poofy haired televangelist. Believe me, this is not helping the cause.

I received an email this morning from Infowars, pleading that we should all click more on the Google ads on Infowars because they are in dire need of that click-through income to keep the site in operation. LOL! Anyone who looks at the front page of Infowars can determine that it is supported by tons of advertising, not to mention the revenues from Alex Jones’ DVDs and other merchandise. But, what got me was the figure quoted as the cost for running this site: $600. That’s chump change for an operation like this. The man is the top talent on GCN, which is an ABC affiliate, folks. He could easily pay the cost of hosting this site out of his own pocket.
Besides, this ignores the fact that Google’s rules prohibit asking your viewers to click on the ads. Doing so is a breach of your Google terms of service agreement and is grounds for termination of your Google Ads account.

The only thing that makes a gun “illegal” is one or more of the hundreds of federal, state and local laws that have been infringing the Second Amendment for 75 years. Otherwise, there is no such thing as an “illegal” gun. The Second Amendment empowers us all to be armed with whatever weaponry we choose and without any qualifying conditions of limitations whatsoever. Read the Amendment, folks. It doesn’t specify who may keep and bear arms, nor does it say what sort of arms, nor does it say when, where or how we may keep and bear them, and it certainly doesn’t say that any of this is subject to any limitations to be imposed at a later date by the government that the Constitution was supposedly written to limit the powers of (in fact, it actually was written so as to expand its powers, but we’ve been lied to about that for 222 years).

The Illuminati, High level masons etc have been telling you all blatantly what is going on, you are all just not listening.
Here is an example of their message which is pretty damn blatant! Hidden in the bible well scattered though it, is the truth but to the average lay person it means nothing, that is until you understand what some of these terms mean.

I have noticed that the sands is referring to people because they say several times in the Bible that they will make us as plentiful as the sands in the sea. The treasures hidden within in the sands, therefore refers to people who are hidden and yet out in the open amongst the billions on Earth. In Kingdom of the Crystal Skull they talk about “The golden key that ops the palace of eternity.” Again talking about the sand and the treasures hidden in the sand and near the end one of them is letting sand run though his fingers and he says “The golden key that op’s the palace of eternity.”

Illegal guns are guns that don’t have permits and have not been registered or purchased from a licensed firearm dealer.
They aren’t taking away guns that have been purchased legally. This site is lame because you obviously haven’t done any research for your bitching article (like looking up what an illegal weapon is).

All because it is not registered and does not have a permit does not make it an illegal weapon. Those were all comprised way after the consititution. The constitution say nothing about having to have a permit or regestration. In fact it take time for those things to come about so that would be a form of INFRINGEMENT. The founders went out and bought ther firearms and weaponry at will and that is the way the meant it to always stay. Time delay is infringement. Thus making it unconstitutional to have made those laws.

Kate, the only reason these unregistered guns are considered “illegal” is because an illegal law (or two, or six, or one hundred) says so. All the gun control laws ever passed, since 1934, are completely illegitimate, as they infringe the Second Amendment; i.e., they are in violation of the Constitution, which is the law of the land.

Newark NJ has been a crime ridden craphole since the late 1960’s. It’s on a par with Detroit and Chicago. Best to just avoid it alltogether if you’re ever in the NJ/NYC area. Treat it as a no-man’s land nothing but an open prison.

I’m all for illegal guns off the street, but I’m not sure this Mayor has thought this through. He must be desparate to have taken this drastic step. I’m sure Newarks tax base is something to be desired, and they are most likely strapped, just like other large cities. The program sounds great, taken at face value, but there is so many ways this could go wrong. All it takes is one arrest to go wrong, and the city could be caught up in very expensive litigation. Times are tough and a thousand dollars could easily make someones judgment less than righteous. Best of luck to the police officers who are tasked with complying with, and effecting the ensuing arrests and confiscations. Oh, and for those who are “not going to take this lying down”, if your guns are legal, and you are in good standing with the law, don’t worry, be happy.

I live in very close proximity to Newark, NJ. The violent crime in the city (and surrounding inner city areas) truly is a problem; especially among gang members gunning each other, as well as innocent bystanders, down with handguns, AK’s and everything in between. The murders typically go unsolved because noone is willing to ‘drop-a-dime’ on each other (for better or worse). However, this is what leads to the perpetuation and institutionalization of crime in the area, along with other factors.
I think the key word in that Ad is ” ‘Illegal’ Guns”. I didn’t watch the video. This type of crime…often 16 year old kids shooting in the street… is what gives typical gun owners a bad name and in turn allows for the incremental erosion of Second Amendment rights (ie: “Think of the Children” themed legislation). And yes I do realize that when you give the Government an inch they’ll take the mile, but the people who possess guns legally should not be threatened here. Honestly, let the community police itself and get the ILLEGAL weapons out of the hands the violent offenders unfit to use them. Believe me, they don’t possess them based on constitutional or patriotic principle.

I live near and have worked with kids in Newark NJ. It is one of the toughest towns in america when it comes to drugs and violence. If someone snitches I would be amazed if it happend more then a few times. Mostly because people there dont like the police. Many times the police are just as bad as the gang bangers. If someone is registered gun owner that should be easily on file. I would sue if I had the police come and confiscate my weapons.
Furthermore, this is also agnst the right face your accusers! But NJ is a bad police state. However, I have a ron paul bumer sticker and am nervious to get pulled over. not that I have anything to hide.

Got your answer you can not collect because it is anonymous even though you are give a reference number. You go through a whole bunch of red tape for months usually from what I have heard from people who have turned in anon crime tips. A couple have been years and in very few cases do they ever actually see the money. And those cases are usually example cases so they can say “see we do actually do what we say and give the money.” By the way anon tips are not suppose to be legal tips but they are used to achieve their goals anyways.

Viewed this story. Sounds out of the blue and well staged. There were too many for initiation from what I know about gangs but I could be wrong. Just sounds funny. Unless this is a normal thing for this area. But I do not have enough information to really say. But a hunch tell me This is to keep justification of the unlawful hate crime laws. yes people they are unlawful because they do not provide an equal protection for all like our constitution states that our laws should be. I am not an advocate of hate but all it is really is assault and battery. That in gact covers the crime. The reason is just justification for what they have done. Remember to create laws that target specific areas is to create undermining of all constitutional rights.

This is why we need decent “uncorruptables” to infiltrate the local governments, run for office and get in positions of influence. The same way the criminals, robber baron, treasonous, traitor class have done it over the years.

I support this policy. Only Military Personnel, Police and anyone who works for CIA, NRO, NSA, DOD etc should be allowed to have guns. If you want a gun join the military.

They are talking about people CARRYING ILLEGAL guns, not guns in people’s homes or anything like that.

Until recently I was all for gun control, although I used to support the IRA, but generally I was against guns, as I thought there was more chance of danger to family members than needing it to defend your home….
I’ve learned since then though, and over the last few years I believe that it’s necessary now, for people to have the training and own a weapon for self defence. I don’t care what uniform someone is wearing, as although I live in a country which has no real legal gun ownership, I will defend my family with everything I’ve got if we are attacked or things really do get as bad as it seems they are. A victim of the Holocaust once said “if only we had even used a shovel, when they (the Nazi’s) started coming in our doors…” This is basically the sentenced which changed my views on it.

People are so desperate at this point. Most citizens of the state will opt in. Thats a shame. People will give away their rights for money.
