During the 2004 Republican Nation Convention in New York City, over 1,700 protesters were taken into police custody in one of the most sweeping mass-arrests in US history. Many were held on Staten Island’s Pier 57, inside a warehouse which was contaminated with lead and asbestos. Some were held for days, and without proper access to food, water, outside communication or legal counsel.

In Denver, police are preparing what a local political organizer calls a ‘concentration camp,’ laying in wait for mass arrests anticipated during the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

On Wednesday, a Denver CBS affiliate sent a news crew to crash the police department’s improvised detention facility, found in a warehouse owned by the city on the north-east side of town.

"This is a building filled with metal holding cells," described reporter Rick Sallinger, introducing the segment. "We showed up at the facility unannounced today, the doors were wide open, and we managed to shoot for several minutes until a Denver sheriff’s captain asked us to leave."

Footage of the warehouse revels tall, chain-link fence capped by barbed wire, and segmented pens each bearing an identifying letter at about shoulder height.

The news crew was not invited, nor welcome. Cpt. Frank Gale of the Denver Sheriff’s Department called the facility "a secured area," and worried that information related to the site would be used "by people who are potentially trying to be disruptive."

"Each of these fenced in areas is about five yards by five yards," said Sallinger. "There’s a lock on the door. How long those arrested will be kept here is not known. A sign on the wall reads, ‘Warning! Electric stun devices used in this facility.’"

Area activists are not amused at the news. CBS carried its footage of the newfound jail to Adam Jung, with Tent State University, and Zoe Williams, a Code Pink organizer.

"Very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp, or a concentration camp," said Williams.

"I mean, that’s how you treat cattle," added Jung. "… It’s a meat processing plant."

The detention site was supposed to be a secret, said Sallinger.

A call by RAW STORY to the Denver Sheriff’s Department seeking information on this facility was not immediately returned.

"This facility will not be used for long-term detention," stated a Denver police department letter to area residents. "Arrestees who are processed at this facility will be there for no more than the few hours it requires for processing. Water, bathrooms, medical staff and phones will be available to them. The facility will be fully staffed to ensure its safe and secure operation."

ACLU Colorado is currently pressing the police department for further information.

    1. Thx1138 Says:

I drove by this place this morning. For those coming to, or are already here in Denver, it’s located near 38th and Steele St.

    2. Sock Puppet Says:

Well folks…. get used to it cuz when shrub declares martial law anyone that balks, is considered a threat or is on a red or blue list is going to a facility similar to this

    3. Joshua J, Austin, TX Says:

They will only do this if we keep letting them. There are more of us than there are of them. Don’t be corraled like cattle folks.

    4. Rattlesnake Says:

Did AJ just say he is doing one more contest-this is for 500 and is for the best flyer?

    5. Wrongful Arrest Says:

We need strict penalties for, aye, a LAW AGAINST “Failure to Charge” on the part of Police.

That is, if they execute ANY arrest and fail to charge you, they need to be liable for minimum amounts ($1000) in minor cases, and criminal penalties in major cases (over 4 hours)

Similarly, we need to criminalize failed prosecution and give the vindiciated defendants the ability to sue for lost wages, anguish, opportunites, etc.

    6. Whitney Says:

I agree with #3. That’s just absolutely ridiculous. Of course it was a “secret” because they knew that if word got out across America about this, most would be enraged.

    7. Raul Says:

Talk about your 5 star hotel treatment!!
I guess we should thank the government for such a royal treatment.
The Land of the Free? What a freaking joke!!

    8. marc in dallas Says:

I wonder if they have some concentration camps here in dallas for the civil wars they are starting to cover up their horrible crimes.

    9. Lal Wynstrom Says:

This place is euphemistically being called “Gitmo on the Platte” by activists, local talk radio, and some journalists. Whatever its name, it is a KGB/Gestapo-style holding area ready for holding the “political prisoners” of the DNC.

This damned city is so determined to present the false illusion of unity that it is now preparing to replicate NYC’s illegal imprisonment and detention of nearly two thousand protestors.

But let’s be clear about something that, so far, none of the local media people I’ve read or heard, has had the courage to mention. This is not about keeping people “safe” at the DNC. It is about continuing to habitualize people to the notion of martial law and the garrison state.

I am hoping that the tip given to WACC yesterday will help expose and shut this abomination down. I am further concerned though for this is, more than likely, only one of these kinds of places already set up.

    10. Catch & Release Says:

    13. JASMINE Says:

IT’S ABOUT TIME WE ROUND UP THESE RABBLE ROUSING INFOIDIOTS AND THROW AWAY THE KEY. TIME TO GET SOME! COME ON DOWN 911 TRUTHERS. WE GOT SOMETHING FOR YOU! OH YEAH!

    14. Retsin Says:

Jasmine has something for you… in his pants.

      It a roll of Certs.

      Bad breath.

    15. Don't Tread On Me Says:

Is Colorado a concealed carry state?

      Ah, who cares…

      Liberty or death.

    16. Mike Pasquini Says:

      Jasmine,

Have you read Dr. Steven Jones’ peer reviewed scientific paper on the WTC and the official story?

    17. Duke Says:

      yeah. get used to it.

    18. danni Says:

Look at this amazing photo of the plane crash at the Pentagon on 911. Even though the building had yet to fall….the debris is all over the place. Can everyone see it?

      http://www.geoffmetcalf.com/pentagon/images/6.jpg

    19. CounterStrike Says:

Hey that guy just went into the DNC Chairmans office and shot him the other day. The police chased him then he came out his car shooting and oh well hes dead. I wonder if everyone started doing that. Then release the prisoners convicted of uncostitutional laws and poof America changed over night. Then the millitary would do the same. Then we are home free.

We could call it Constitution day when America went back to the Constitution and abolished all UN Constitutional laws. Sure if might be chaotic for a while but eventually everyone would be armed then it would be safe again.

      Sounds like a pipe dream?

    20. Alex Says:

Just a thought… If you’re planning on going to the DNC, just get your own stun-gun & bring it along! Im sure defending yourself with a “non-lethal” weapon would probably fly in court.

    21. roaddog Says:

So now that the cats outta the bag, whats gonna be done about it. Come on Denver, lead by example. Show us how its done. The ball is in your court now. Everyone knows this shit ain’t right and its got to come to an end before it goes nation wide. It ain’t against the law to picket is it.(or is it??). Something, anything has got to be done to show the sheeple what they have coming for expressing their opinions and rights.

    22. GunSlinger Says:

I CAN SMELL JSMINES FILTHY CUNT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WEB!! HOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU?? I HAVE A SPECIAL BULLET FOR PEOPLE LIKE JASMINE!!
PEW WHAT IS THAT STINK? OH IT’S JASMINE’S CUNT, PLEASE TAKE A SHOWER!

    23. teejmmmmmkay Says:

I know Adam personally, and love his comments!!!! I am SO proud of what he is accomplishing!!! I hope to be there at his side when the D. N. C. begins. Their “NEO JAIL” KILLS LIBERTY WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    24. SonShine Says:

It really don’t matter what they get caught doing…legal or illegal…they’re just gonna keep on going doing what they’re doing. The more they do, the more they get away with. Small increments! Little by little. One freedom here, one freedom there. Anyone born in ‘69 and grew up in the ’80’s knows what i’m talking about.

Things began changing slowly but surely. I remember cuz i was at the cutoff age. When i was 14 i remember playing basketball in the park 11-12 o’clock at night. Then, couple of years later, no more playing in the park after 10 pm. then, years later, no more playing in the park after sunset. I mean, i remember when we were allowed to smoke on planes, and now you can barely travel because of all the guidelines.

I know these may be small things, relatively unimportant, but they were freedoms, and now what do we have? You can barely smoke anywhere. I mean, no smoking in bars? Shouldn’t that be up to the owners to decide if smoking is allowed in their establishments? Remember, it was only a couple of years ago that you could smoke at your job or office, and now you have to go outside.

I say these things because we have to understand that it is the small foxes that spoil the vine. The more we allow them to do, the more they are going to do and by time you try and stop them, it will be too late.

The question that needs to be answered is this, what do WE THE PEOPLE do to take back our God given rights? Are we supposed to roll over and die…or just let them roll over us unto our death? Something needs to be done, and needs to be done A.S.A.P.! Question is, what will you do?

    25. Skip Says:

Kinda kute #18. Looks like they were trying to make those spools look like wheels. LOL!!

    26. Albert Says:

Hay #18….keep up with the times, that’s old news. Those are parts of a Global Hawk. Googl4e it, educate yourself, and move on!

    28. libertea1776 Says:

Why do this at the DNC and not the RNC ? Is it because they know the democrats will be unarmed ? They are the party of gun control.

I pray some group of people stand up for their GOD GIVEN rights in Denver. You can show the nation and the world we aren’t a police state yet.

    29. U R ALL IDIOTS Says:

Hey Roaddog, c’mon man. “has got to be done” is actually “has to be done”. Gunslinger, you don’t need to say anything about anyones twat, it just shows your immaturity which will not help your cause at all. You have to realize that your moms cunt smells worse than JSmines. Trust me, I’ve been there. If anyone needs a shower it’s that skank. So, do like your mom does day in and day out and go fuck yourself. Its scum like you that need your fucking ass handed to you in a big way. Karma bitch, you’ll see it one day!

    30. American Muslim in Egypt Says:

If the police are doing this for something as simple as protesting the DNC, imagine what they would do if there was something bigger happen.

And why some of you have to talk so dirty, it takes away your credibility for the cause, just think about it.

    31. The Ghost of Tom Joad Says:

Moooo, mooooo, moooo, I have a right to a lawyer and a phone call……moooo.
      Don’t cattle prod me bro….moooo.

    32. Big Ike Says:

    33. Sam Jones Says:

Did you see any “Red List” or “Blue List” processing signs??

    34. JIMMY IN MEXICO Says:

PLEASE FIND OUT WHERE THE GUILLOTINES ARE. THATS THE NEXT STEP. REALLY WE NEED TO FIND THEM AND DESTROY THOSE THINGS.

    35. COMMON,RESTRANT,N.W.O.DOWNFALL Says:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB_gwYz5Mqs

    36. Seal Says:

Alex when told of cop at DNC secret cattle camps, saying get away get out of here! Simply by this responce that cop was ashamed for what he was privy to…

we through our interfacing at infowars.com know all about the camps and the FEMA 800 above and was it ?1001 below w maglev etc “mile high city” connector hub to underground, that which Phillip Schneider’s 30 years service, was without gratitude by his former employers, when he showed up at the National Press (see)Disclosure Project(on youtube.com)!
Were talkin groom lk and etc.

So when this 2012 comes along the Blue Meanies hope to have complete control and gridlock by then. The sand grains fall from the fist as it clenches in the illusion of power! Sadly when they call for tax and everyone remaining in the world return to be taxed, again! Those dwellers in the wilderness can save themselves from entering the cages of those dirty birds! When the time comes we might all simply cut our drivers licenses and passports in half and return them to the government!
But we will I am sure all be travellers by a new means by then, that is by foot! And fighting with sticks and stones, for a time, after this recent madness, or distraction, or insane double down all or nothing crapshoot with all our lives and futures! I mean, wasn’t it great when there wasn’t open gambling for instance?! But this is sadly the most insensitive and destructive madness since ever!

When will those brainwashing glamourous freaks we call controlled media simply begin to lose it big time and word gets out!? I presuppose we are soon to see great upheavals and transfers travels of our peoples from one place to another. It is bad. And not mentioning those poor innocents killed in Ossatia! See below a hint of truth from yahoo ca.

“…Strains of war mar tune for Georgian ballerina

      Fri Aug 15, 2:59 PM

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AFP) – Nina Ananiashvili was born in Georgia but calls herself a Russian ballerina — a mixture making for powerful emotions as Georgia’s State Ballet dances “Giselle” at the Edinburgh Festival.

Her 80-strong company left Georgia on August 8, the very day on which Russian forces reacted to a Georgian bid to seize control of the separatist region of South Ossetia.”I’m Georgian but I am a Russian ballerina,” said the 45-year-old former star of the Bolshoi in Moscow, who spent 30 years in Russia before taking the reins at the Georgian national ballet in 2004.”When I heard about the first incidents, it was a real shock,” she told AFP in between performances in which she plays the lead at the annual arts festival in Scotland.
She describes how children performing with the ballet cried before a show shortly after hearing the news, forcing her to reassure them and convince them that they had to keep dancing despite their worries.”This performance was much more emotional, terrible pictures came to my eyes constantly,” says the dark-clad, black-haired dancer.
The production has been well received. “The company helped to kick off the festival with an assured performance of the 19th-century classic,” said the Times reviewer, while the Guardian called it “a memorable performance.”"And not only the critics liked it,” she said.”In the second act, when I say goodbye to Albert, I raise my hand to say thank you to God, it was so quiet, like death, nothing moved,” before thunderous applause broke out, she said.”Culture doesn’t have nationality,” she added.
The current conflict between Moscow and Tbilisi is “not about people, this is about politics, this should be stopped,” she said, condemning the Russian “invasion” of her native land.”I cannot stay on the Russian side this time,” she said.
Born in Tbilisi in 1963, Ananiashvili moved to Moscow at the age of 14 to perfect her ballet technique. She remained there for nearly three decades, and calls her mentor at the Bolshoi, Raisa Struchkova, her “Russian mother.”At her peak she was feted for star performances in the Russian classic ballets “Giselle,” “Don Quixote” and “Romeo and Juliet”.After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 she danced with companies around the world, notably the Houston ballet. Then when Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili was elected in 2004 he invited her to take control of the State Ballet in Tbilisi. She accepted, while continuing to teach and dance herself.
Seen as close to the pro-Western government, she married the current deputy foreign minister Grigol Vashadze, and at the age of 45 says she feels in top form and far from ready to hang up her ballet pumps.”I haven’t danced my best ballet yet,” she said, adding that she hopes to produce a new show in the near future in which she can use all her talent and experience. But tears well up in her eyes when she explains that she cannot take her company to Russia, because of visa problems and now even more so because of political tensions between the two countries.Ananiashvili and the Georgian State Ballet gave two performances of “Giselle” and “Mixed Bill” — four diverse works with choreography by George Balanchine — at the Edinburgh International Festival on August 9 and 13.”

Oh I can only hope that the police round up and fence in all of those social marxist scumbags.

    38. Stand by the US Constitution Says:

The citizens of Germany allowed less than this to be advanced and they quickly witnessed its effects by tolerating it. The citizens of the US is at a crossroad, either tolerate the unconstitutional advances or get active and do something about it b4 its too late! Either you are with the US Constitution or you are against it. For the Supreme law of the land? Then you are a true patriot. Against it? Then you are a Patriot Act supporter. Its that simple and its your choice, while you still barely have a choice.

    39. candymarl Says:

I lived in Germany. Even the young people who did not witness what happened during WWII are smart enough to know that if you ignore this kind of thing it doesn’t go away. They are also aware that sooner or later even the so-called loyalists are targeted.

    40. Barbaricfellow Says:

When this was shown in 2004 it had shackles on the floor not?

    41. Bill Swensen Says:

Well it makes me feel a bit better about Denver’s local news… It seems like that station is doing it’s job on real investigative reporting… Still it’s a creepy story…

    43. THE LOWERY Says:

Get a couple of EOD trained prior vets to take out the building…maybe we can hire the same group that wired WTC1 & 2 and WTC7 :) Someone in the Denver should be working on this now, and likewise at other detention facilites across the states. This should be happening now :)

    44. THE LOWERY Says:

Lizajean said, “…cattle pens for peaceful protesters…”

Peaceful? These radicals are not peaceful. They are ugly, loud, boorish, in-your-face obnoxious. That doesn’t mean that these pens are righteous, but don’t paint these protesters as lambs.

    47. Steve in arizona Says:

somebody should blow up that place….any volunteers

    48. Dixie Dawg Says:

Do you know why nothing will be done about this “detention center”? Because Americans have become so complacent. Most people have a nice place to live, good car to drive, designer clothes to wear, a job to go to each morning and the ability to at least charge the latest gizmo they can’t live without. People are pragmatic materialists – if it works for them, then they are fine. Therefore, people who are relatively comfortable don’t see the need to protest what is going on in the political realm. Even though they can smell corruption a mile away, they just don’t think America can end up in harm’s way, under the leadership of evil people.

The American Dream has lulled people into a false sense of security because we’re still considered the “land of the free” and “home of the brave”, but people had better wake up. We’re truly headed for destruction unless we repent and turn back towards the Bible and the Constitution.

    49. Tim M Says:

      Really, Dixie Dawg?

I was under the impression that most people in the U.S. are unemployed, maxing out their credit cards on increasingly more expensive groceries just trying to get by, worrying about their mortgage or impending foreclosure, and fretting about record gas prices. I don’t see comfort, just impending doom. The reason Denver is preparing to lock up all of these people is because people are mad as hell, and a lot of us see Barak Owhatever as being just another huckster put up for suckers to follow off the cliff.

As for the detention center, like cockroaches that scurry into the darkness, the police state people don’t like having the light of some independent news crews identifying where they’re going to detain people who choose to leave their “free speech zone.”

As my father remarked to me once, “I remember when the whole country was a free speech zone.”

Get out there and tear sh*t up, people! We’ve got them on the run.

    50. TommieJefferson Says:

Looks like the Police State/Homeland Security is ready for the protesting *domestic terrorists* (or patriots as we like to call ourselves)!

      Bring it on!!!

Don’t Taz me Bro!!! Where is that guy anyway, he should be interviewed again…lol

    51. G Says:

Think about it, with the latest advent of the loss of habeus corpus, isn’t it all too convenient to make such arrests? It is one thing to arrest someone who is throwing something dangerous out there, it is QUITE another to arrest those who do not happen to go along with a “picked” candidate or who are peacefully protesting.
The fact is , that this will be a televised event, and they sure do not want anyone on television stating that they are not happy with the state of affairs here.
We need to focus on the cure that stems from the cause.
      Restore rule of law.

    52. XPIOLT Says:

This concentration camp is approved by the New World Order. No chairs, no toilets and if you complain you will be tasered. You will be assigned a number and entered into a data base as a homegrown terrorist. Recreation will be available continually throughtout the day and night as waterboarding and burlap bag races to the johns. No visitors or phone calls will be allowed. Enjoy your stay.

    53. W Says:

Alright, how long are we going to tolerate this bullshit before we actually do something. I hate saying this, but we need to kick out everyone (except for a certain few) in our crooked ass government.

      Americans have rights, ha bullshit.

    54. Longarm Says:

      # 56 – W

Well spoken. I have asked my fellow Aussies that exact same question – only to be looked at with complete bemusement. Westerners are totally asleep and as far as I am concerned, the TV is mainly to blame.

    56. FRENCHIE Says:

      IMPEACH BUSH http://Kucinich.us/

    57. Glen Fissles Says:

If you kept dogs in that facility PETA would be pissed. For some reason it’s ok for people who dare exercise what is left of their free speech. There is something disgusting about even contemplating that this concentration camp might be necessary. It wouldn’t be necessary if the cops weren’t planning on arresting EVERYONE who dares break step. They got away with it in NY. Maybe this time cops will actually stop and think about what they are being encouraged to do and get off of their cheap power trip and be human for a change.

    58. Danae Says:

Isn’t such treatment illegal under the Constitution? What type of “processing” are they talking about? The right to assembly and freedom of speech has been seriously undermined during this administration and though I am certain it is too late for impeachment to be of use, that does not mean that these people (i.e. “Bushies”) should be able to walk away from this without serious penalties including the loss of THEIR freedoms and rights due to just criminal process as defined under our law system. What lawyers will grow a pair, as the saying goes, and step up to the task of condemning these offensive acts with the most strident means of persecution provided? This is a reminder of when Europe turned a blind eye to Germany’s atrocities in World War II. Have we learned nothing?

    59. Marty Says:

Don’t really see how the “Bushies” are involved in this,as this is in preparation for the DEMOCRATIC convention not those jack booted Republicans. All freedom loving Dems need to speak out and prohibit this kind of treatment of lovers of free speech and right to assembly.

    60. hexenkessel88 Says:

these so called protestors are all just a bunch of lazy, jackass troublemakers looking for a little bit of youtube fame. i hope their dreams of 60’s hippiedom turn into a concentration camp nightmare.

    61. siren4song Says:

Begging your pardon, but aren’t you being a little close-minded? Not to mention down right mean? Does ANYONE deserve to be put in a concentration camp?? News Flash: Not everyone is all about seeing their face on youtube. Maybe they are using the voice that they have to stand up for or against an issue. The more important issue here is that we have the right to assemble and the right to free speech, and if people don’t wake up soon and figure out what is happening, you, my friend, won’t have a voice at all.

    62. Drew Says:

when i was in boston for the 2004 DNC the police had these caged areas for “trouble makers”. maybe if the people in power did their job correctly then people wouldnt have to protest. the cages should be for them

    63. ron heringhauser Says:

Alex has been warning us for years now! The USA has become no better than the communists dictatorships we used to be afraid of. Power has a way of doing these evil things. We must try to hang on to our Constitution, if we can. We love ya…Alex.

    68. Danae Says:

Marty-The “Bushies” do have a hand in this foul scheme against the freedom of speech when they took away unalienable rights with the Patriot Act. Who do you think wants to present America as all peaches and cream?
