NIST Claims “New Phenomenon” Occurred For First Time Ever In Collapse Of WTC 7
Yet fails to address why ground zero workers and media outlets had prior knowledge of an “extraordinary event” never before observed an hour in advance, plus myriad of other ignored issues

In its final report on the collapse of WTC 7 that news outlets are reporting “puts 9/11 conspiracy theories to bed,” NIST claims that the never before observed “new phenomenon” of “thermal expansion” was to blame for the destruction of the building, a completely ludicrous conclusion in a report that simply ignores eyewitness testimony and hard evidence that points to the deliberate demolition of the structure.
NIST completely fails to address prior knowledge of the building’s collapse, including why news outlets like the BBC and CNN reported that the building had collapsed an hour before it actually fell, as well as firefighters on the scene who are heard on video saying, “Keep your eye on that building, it’ll be coming down soon.”
If the collapse of WTC 7 came as a result of a “new phenomenon” and an “extraordinary event” that had never happened before in the history of building collapses, then why did news stations and ground zero workers know it was about to happen a hour or more in advance?
This on its own completely destroys the very foundation of NIST’s assertion that a “new phenomenon” was responsible for the collapse.
Which is the more likely scenario – that ground zero officials and media outlets got word that the building was going to be “pulled” – or that they employed clairvoyant powers of deduction that enabled them to foresee an event that had never happened before in history to a building that was structurally reinforced and had suffered limited fires?
NIST claims that the collapse of Building 7 is “The first known instance of fire causing the total collapse of a tall building”.
We are actually being asked to believe the impossible – that WTC 7 was the only building in history to have defied all precedent and suffered a complete and almost instantaneous collapse from fire damage alone, despite this being an impossibility if one accepts the basic laws of physics as accurate.
The issue of molten metal, which was discovered under both the twin towers and WTC 7, suggesting an extremely hot burning agent was used in the demolition process, is completely ignored in NIST’s report, despite it being acknowledged in Appendix C of FEMA’s World Trade Center Building Performance Study, which stated:
Evidence of a severe high temperature corrosion attack on the steel, including oxidation and sulfidation with subsequent intergranular melting, was readily visible in the near-surface microstructure. A liquid eutectic mixture containing primarily iron, oxygen, and sulfur formed during this hot corrosion attack on the steel… The severe corrosion and subsequent erosion of Samples 1 and 2 are a very unusual event. No clear explanation for the source of the sulfur has been identified.
Speaking during a press conference that was called to counter NIST, Richard Gage, founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth and a member of the American Institute of Architects, dismissed the report.
“Tons of [molten metal] was found 21 days after the attack,” said Gage in an interview with a Vancouver, Canada television station. “Steel doesn’t begin to melt until 2,700 degrees, which is much hotter than what these fires could have caused.”
“There are holes in this story that you can drive a truck through,” he added, citing NIST’s claim that no evidence suggested loud explosive booms accompanied the collapse of the building by reminding that Thermite, a steel cutting agent, makes no explosive sound.
Even aside from this argument, there were numerous close proximity eyewitnesses who reported loud explosions, including NYPD officer Craig Bartmer and ground zero first responder Kevin McPadden (who also experienced the countdown before the building fell), but this fact was again simply ignored by NIST.
“FEMA found it,” said Gage. “Dr. Steven Jones found it, in the dust that landed in the entire area of lower Manhattan. And he finds it in the chunks of previously molten metal [from the towers].”
The core of NIST’s explanation, that an “extraordinary event” called “thermal expansion” was to blame for the sudden total collapse of the building is of course on the face of it a fraud when one considers the innumerable number of buildings that have suffered roaring fires across the majority of their floors and remained standing, whereas WTC 7 suffered limited fire damage across a handful of floors.
NIST also claims that the building only fell at 40% free fall speed, as if this isn’t suspicious in itself. Remember that this 47-story behemoth took just 7 seconds to completely collapse within its own footprint falling through the path of most resistance.

As the George Washington blog points out, “NIST said that WTC 7 fell at 40% slower than free fall speed. But it collapsed a lot faster than it would have if the structural supports were not all blown away at the same instant. 40% slower isn’t very impressive — that’s like arguing that a rock falling through concrete 40% slower than a rock falling through the air is perfectly normal.”
The George Washington blog has compiled a list of experts in structural engineering and demolition who have all questioned NIST’s conclusion. None of these individuals were approached by NIST to partake in their final report.
• The former head of the Fire Science Division of the government agency which claims that the World Trade Centers collapsed due to fire (the National Institute of Standards and Technology), who is one of the world’s leading fire science researchers and safety engineers, a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering (Dr. James Quintiere), called for an independent review of the World Trade Center Twin Tower collapse investigation. “I wish that there would be a peer review of this,” he said, referring to the NIST investigation. “I think all the records that NIST has assembled should be archived. I would really like to see someone else take a look at what they’ve done; both structurally and from a fire point of view. … I think the official conclusion that NIST arrived at is questionable.
• Two professors of structural engineering at a prestigious Swiss university (Dr. Joerg Schneider and Dr. Hugo Bachmann) said that, on 9/11, World Trade Center 7 was brought down by controlled demolition (translation here).
• Kamal S. Obeid, structural engineer, with a masters degree in Engineering from UC Berkeley, of Fremont, California, says:
“Photos of the steel, evidence about how the buildings collapsed, the unexplainable collapse of WTC 7, evidence of thermite in the debris as well as several other red flags, are quite troubling indications of well planned and controlled demolition”
• Ronald H. Brookman, structural engineer, with a masters degree in Engineering from UC Davis, of Novato California, writes:
“Why would all 47 stories of WTC 7 fall straight down to the ground in about seven seconds… ? It was not struck by any aircraft or engulfed in any fire. An independent investigation is justified for all three collapses including the surviving steel samples and the composition of the dust.”
• Graham John Inman, structural engineer, of London, England, points out:
“WTC 7 Building could not have collapsed as a result of internal fire and external debris. NO plane hit this building. This is the only case of a steel frame building collapsing through fire in the world. The fire on this building was small & localized therefore what is the cause?”
• A Dutch demolition expert (Danny Jowenko) stated that WTC 7 was imploded
• A prominent physicist with 33 years of service for the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC (Dr. David L. Griscom) said that the official theory for why the Twin Towers and world trade center building 7 collapsed “does not match the available facts” and supports the theory that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition
To claim that the collapse of WTC 7 is “no longer a mystery,” as chief NIST investigator Dr. Shyam Sunder stated yesterday smacks of a desperate attempt to proclaim the authority of the official story by mere words alone, when in reality NIST’s laughable “new phenomenon” claim, the latest in a long line of changing explanations for the obvious demolition of Building 7, only heaps more embarrassment on NIST and makes the official 9/11 story look more untrustworthy than ever before.

Unfortunately,Paul Joseph Watson,your slip is showing.You are literally being hoist on your own petard.In your article you state that there were limited fires in Building 7.I guess you’re hoping no one gets a gander at the photo of the building included with the article.If gray smoke pouring out of the entire 47 story building for hours isn’t evidence of a building seriously on fire then your credibility has to be considered damaged.Of course,there’s plenty of good stuff to work with on this question of #7,but the fact that you persist in the “few small fires” and “pull it” nonsense is distressing.Funny that in the interest of a full portrait you don’t refer people to the PDF file available on the New York Times website that details the oral testimonies of the FDNY just after that fateful day.Surely you don’t think the FDNY was in on the scam,do you?

I think they might WANT us to know. Maybe, just maybe, this new report is exactly what they want, obvious lies that do not match anything that happend that day. Could they be covertly/overtly bringing out so more people Wake up? What better way to show them who is “semi-awake” so they can target them or provoke them into open resistance?

The thermal expansion theory will probably bring more physicists and structural engineers into the 911 truth camp. This is obviously a pseudoscientific theory. They might as well say that the destruction of these buildings was a planned demolition after all. However, the demolitions were engineered by space aliens.

If you beleive that i have a bridge for sale on the east river to sell you. total whitewash, cover up. there is no way fire destroyed any of the WTC buildings. in case nobody remembers, same month last year, the 26 story Duetsch bank caught fire. A 4 alarm fire, this building was stucturly weakend by the debris from WTC towers( collapsing in their own footprints) the fire in this building burned for 4-5 hours, and the building had no emergency sprinkler system. for the past 6 years this building was being dismantled and deconstucted, it was much more structuraly unsound than WTC 7 on 9/11 yet it did not collapse. the same goes for all other incidents involving fire in stell sky scrapers since 9/11. NOT ONE of these buildings was demolished, destroyed, or collapsed in to their own foot prints!

Also watch the films that clearly show Fox film crews looking only for people with the special “Able Danger” badges at ground zero. These were the government, FBI, and military staged eyewitnesses that were everywhere at ground zero giving exact details of the supposed “planes”. Those were the only people Fox would interview.
I find it ironic that WTC 7 investigation demands you ignore video of the demolitions and only look at evidence that they produced. Though with respect to planes crashing into WTC’s 1 and 2 they demand you only look at video and no evidence that they never produced?

If the government came out and admitted that they did it, a lot of people (and I know some of them) would say “well, they did what they had to do to protect the rest of us.” Or “they know stuff that we don’t know.” They TRUST those in authority regardless.
As for those who are thinking this new “expansion of thermal energy” crap will cause engineers and physicists to ask questions, I hate to break it to you, but many of them will just write up a bunch of bogus grant requests to study this “new phenomenon” in the hopes of getting more grant money.
Part of this is self-deception. It happens in the sciences all the time. If you can’t explain it, you build a new theory to support the story rather than use the expertise of thousands of qualified engineers and scientists using known laws of physics. In the report Dr. Sunder states that they did NOT consider demolitions or detonations AT ALL because…get this….they had no conclusive AUDIO evidence that any existed. AUDIO was the reason they never considered or even tested for a controlled demolition. It was clearly obvious from VIDEO that there was a controlled demolition…..though audio was the reason in this report. (Imagine using “audio” as the reason JFK was NOT shot by a bullet?!!!)
Dr. Shyam Sunder has extensive experience leading and conducting engineering R&D in support of offshore and arctic oil drilling and production. Maybe all that blasting has injured his hearing?

An excellent discovery, this new phenomenon! Think of it! Now, when we need to demolish a tall steel frame building, we don’t need to hire expensive demolition crews and spend weeks rigging explosives! We need an independant investigation of all the events that transpired on 911. I started keeping a journal of all the “red flag” pieces of evidence that were never considered in the Henry Kissinger led 911 Commision Report. There are 159 pieces of hard core viable evidence that I’ve documented that totally discredits the official story!
I’ve also come upon something that is freaking huge, that no’one has even thought of considering! Examine the lamp posts very carefully at the pentagon. To make a long story short, there are 61 photographs suggesting explosives were used to pop out the lamp posts, making them look like they were struck by a plane on their way to the building – or so they thought. If a plane traveling at 300+ mph hit a 10.5 inch diameter steel lamp post it would have sheered them in half. The bottom half (below point of impact) would have went forward in the same direction as the plane. The top half, would have went backwards away from the plane. Instead, the lamp posts were twisted and blown away from the building (still in one piece), suggesting that explosives were used under the anchor plates on the far side (away from the building). The idiot in charge of planting these mini explosives put the charges on the wrong side! Imagine sticking a 6 foot aluminum antenna into the ground and striking it with a baseball bat as hard as you could right in the middle. The top of the antenna would break off and fly backwards! The bottom would go forwards – think about it! Also, one of the lamp posts flew into the air and landed on a taxi cab on the road that runs parallel to the building more than 65 feet away! Two other lamp posts show clear signs of powder burns (blackening) at the base of the steel anchor plates. There are also other points that I could go on and on about, but consider the lamp posts!

I was just looking at the NIST web site and watched the three video clips they released there, two of which are of computer simulations of the collapse of WTC7. To tell you the truth, I’m not a completely convinced “conspiracy theorist,” but I find enough unanswered questions to not quite be able to buy the government-relaesed explanations for the 9/11 events either.
Since I’m also anything but a scientist, I had hoped that the NIST computer simulations would make the reasons for the building collapses clearer for me, but I am disappointed. The video on their left side of the page shows the initiation of the collapse, i.e., part of the building, and the video ends before the remainder of the building starts collapsing. The video on the left side of their page also starts with a side of the building collapsing, followed by the remainder of the building, but it ends when about half the building is collapsed. And it seems to me that it is tilting backwards in the video. Why on earth didn’t NIST post the entire simulation?
Anyway, maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t see any similarity in this to the video footage of the collapse of the actual WTC7. That building buckled in the middle and then came straight down from what I’m able to see. Does anyone know where I might find the entire clips of the simulated collapse? Or can anyone tell me what I’m missing or misunderstanding?

Ask questions. Even what seems like a simple question: How many buildings collapsed on September 11, 2001, in New York? I ask this question and get all kinds of answers. I ask anyways. It’s been almost seven years and I think that the event of 9/11, staged or not, seems very much a false pretense for war. The NIST report says that debris from WTC7 was carted away immediately, so conveniently there is no evidence to investigate. And, the investigation didn’t start for years after 9/11, but the so called “war on terror” started as soon as possible. I think that this enabled the threats made in the spring of 2001, to bomb Afghanistan into oblivion, to be carried out soon after 9/11 without any time to ask questions. We’re asking questions now.

I was watching C-Span tonight Aug. 21st, 2008 when Shane G. a reporter for infowars.com was cut short on his legitimate question. I was so disturbed by the behavior of the media and there urgency to divert the question that I turned the program off after witnessing the lack of willingness to answer his valid question. However by diverting his question they only raised more questions in the minds of American citizens like myself. Acts such as these prove the situation to be even more questionable. Did anyone happen to notice the queue to standby triggered by the lights in the room going out?!?! They put there mental seat belts on as soon as they heard infowars.com! The speaker smiled big, (an attempt to hide his uneasiness), as soon as Shane began to introduce himself. I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and for attending that C-Span covered report from Nist. I agree entirely with the above shown article.

The slicing antenna theory is an incredible fairy tale especially since there are photos of the front of the building with no damage shown after the slicing antenna fell far away from wtc7.

I thought I’d add a last set of observation after watching this ludicrous endeavor again on C-Span. Maybe you also noticed the buzz ward from the talking points. It was “elegant”. As if, because the evidence was elegant it was therefore true. The word was used precisely, and on cue particularly when the guy from infowars asked questions towards the end of the “show”. Remember that little episode? Basically the answer he got was no your wrong, it’s elegant get back to me on that off camera, because if it ain’t on the TV it ain’t real bubba.
I don’t remember where I read it, but someone was talking about lies, and how the best lie was an “elegant” one. Maybe it was in Mein Kampf, I’m not sure. I also noticed the choreography in the room. If someone asked a controversial question immediately some poser would ask a talking points question that would try to deflate or mitigate the previously asked question.
I’m telling you friends this deal here is as bold face as it can get. Think of what they are doing here. They are demanding that the entire scientific community throw out everything they know that is true and embrace this “new phenomena”, and all of it’s junk sciences with it. It’s like the State of Tennessee vs John Scopes in a sense all over again and this demand now permeates every sector of our society and government.
Think about it. The excuse for dangerous, poisonous toys, medicines, foods all consumer goods is the FDA and other agencies don’t work any more. Why? They say…because, and that’s the end of the conversation. Anyone with a brain knows why these agencies don’t work any more. It’s because their budgets have been cut to the bone, and their leadership has been replaced with people from the very industries the agencies were supposed to protect us from. Is this even mentioned by our media? No. Not unless something huge happens like Katrina and it’s to big to cover up. In the eyes of the media it’s not to be talked about, because it’s part of the “elegant ‘choreography” that we all live under in our day to day lives.

Because of the low intellect level that is viral through this group of cads, reprobates and fools they gravitate to ironies that would never pass the smell test in the cheapest of science fiction novels. The model that is really being used is the one never discussed. It’s The Truman Show. Remember what Rove said long ago? It was in response to a reporter who differed with Rove’s facts. Rove said “your problem is your coming from a fact based reality. We on the other hand create reality.” I thought that was very telling, but most did not.
However since those verbose words we have been living in their created reality one way or another. Like mice in a haba-trail we are cut off at every pass, herded into the tubes they wish and fed a diet of imaginary news cycles that contain no substance and the barest of truths. This goes unnoticed to the masses as it remains cloaked to the most enchanted, because of it’s elegance and that is why we who have awakened appear mad to everyone else.
There is a saying some believe to be first uttered by Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. He said ‘Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out.’ They did in a work of fiction, but remain in the mud for the most part today. Will it be the same for us? Will we never really know the truths, the answers to the pleading whys? We are currently on the brink of nuclear war. Our economy is imploding, and the fastest growing industry we have is prisons and security/law enforcement. At any moment America may become a smoldering tombstone to all we were. You would think in this hour someone would at least want to confess, but no. No they find no need to do that. After all my prior statement ‘we are currently on the brink of nuclear war….’ is based on my living in the Truman Show and outside of that created reality to those who pull the levers all may be fine. You can now refocus your attention on the reason that all the buildings collapsed, all the fires were started in the first place, and for which NO explanation has been given so far by anyone? What is that topic? Here it is……..
The FBI, by order of the White House, had complete authority of the NTSB. The NTSB is the agency that examines plane crashes. They’re the people that collect the pieces and put them together to get an idea of what happened. They’re the people that examine the wreckage and try to get an idea if there were other circumstances that may have caused a crash…in some cases that would test for explosives for example. By order of the WH and the FBI, the NTSB was NEVER allowed to examine, collect, analyze, inspect, review, make statements, or give ANY opinion of scientific review of anything that happened on 911. They were ordered by the FBI to focus solely on transcripts, communications, interviews with airline employees, a radar information. (Guess what happened with the information the NTSB collected….it was gathered together….and then destroyed. In some cases….right in front of the airline employees)
The reason that the NTSB was never allowed on scene or to inspect ANY wreckage from 911 at ANY of the 4 locations…….was because nothing was ever found. Let me repeat…..to this day….not one single piece of verifiable evidence of ANY plane has ever been found at any of the 4 locations on the morning of 911. NOT ONE. The NTSB never relys on “eyewitnesses” to prove a crash. They have never relied on video to prove a crash. (Witnesses and video may help confirm the data from wreckage…but it is never used solely to prove a crash.) The only evidence used is the wreckage itself. To this day…..NO WRECKAGE FROM ANY OF THE 4 “PLANES” HAS EVER BEEN VERIFIED FROM ANY OF THE 4 LOCATIONS. How would NIST be able to explain this? Thermal expansion of the plane to make them all dissapear after impact?
NIST would probably say…”well what about that engine and wheel found at an intersection right after the crash at WTC’s 1 and 2″? Great….even though the photos themselves PROVE that it did not come from the same plane that was reported to have crashed…can any verify the items? NO….not one person has been allowed to even look at the photographed parts in person to verify them. It would be easy concidering it would have an easily identifiable part number to immediately prove it came from one of the listed planes. What about the “fusalage” that was found on top of a nearby building weeks later? Great….even though the photo shows it could not have come from the type of plane that was suggested crashed….can anyone please look at it to verify it? NO….not one person outside of the WH or FBI has ever seen this piece. What about the same kind of engine that was reported at the Pentagon? NO…not one single verification has been allowed….and it never matched anyhow to the kind of plane that crashed into the Pentagon. What about Shanksville….the WH passed an executive order that says you will do prison time if you even so much as question local residents!!!!!!…..let alone look at any of the 95% of the plane that the WH claims was already collected. In other words they have 95% of the plane and it has NEVER been verified by ANYONE outside the WH or FBI.
If you are willing to disagree with the findings of this criminal regime regarding the WTC7 building…..based only on evidence…..what makes you think they are being honest about the “planes’ on 911? Why has insurance yet to pay the airlines for the planes lost on 911? Insurance for airplanes are based solely on wreckage. No wreckage, no pay. To this date they have identified or verified not ONE PIECE of wreckage from ANY of the 4 locations on 911. Maybe this WTC 7 report is a good thing….because maybe…just maybe…..it will allow you to question WHY nothing has ever been verified regarding the reason the whole thing started….which were the planes. But you can’t be seriously considering that planes didn’t hit the towers. They did. In fact my buddy’s wife was IN to other tower WHEN the first plane hit… got out in time and emerged to SEE the second plane hit. It happened.
Is that what brought down the towers… that I’ll admit is open for discussion.

If any good came from this report, it’s what NIST confirmed *could not* have caused the collapse — the gas tanks below (which was reported as fact by Popular Mechanics), nor the electronic substation, nor the gouge in the side of the building.
All that’s left is “thermal expansion” theory versus “controlled demolition”. I sincerely hope the American public will pick up on holes in the former and strengths in the latter. Finding the truth may hurt, but sometimes the right thing and the hard thing are the same. We, the American people, can handle the truth. I wish the government would realize that.

I remember several accounts immediately after WTC7 went down where the fire fighters and ny officials knew the building was going to be pulled. Why the need to cover this up. It does not make any sense unless someone is trying to cover up something bigger. What that might be I don’t know.
My thoughs are that the owner probably had some sort of agreement with the government after thal original attempt 1990 on the world trade center that all the buildings would be prewired with explosives or thermite to enable the owner to pull the buildings if they became damaged to the point that they were unsafe to surrounding builidngs. It is not surprising that the government might accept this proposal to protect people in the surrounding buildings given the previous attempt on the WTC and the potential damge and loss of life that would occur if the WTC buildings fell over into other nearby structures. Sacrifice a few to save many. It is possible that the fire fighters got caught in the middle. Imagine the outcry if the public found out that the fire fighters died because someone got trigger happy and pulled the WTC buildings permaturely. This might be a good reason for a government coverup and does not stretch too far into the conspiracy relm.

but what about after the first hit…all those civilians, police officers, port authority personnel and not to mention firemen among other agencies all around the area whether it was a block or 2miles away after that initial airliner collision…..your telling me all these people with recording devises (you know, the blackberies,sidekicks and the common cellphones) who managed to record the second airliner hitting the second tower was also tampered with.
