Steven Kazmierczak had been taking three drugs prescribed for him by his psychiatrist, the Northern Illinois University gunman’s girlfriend told CNN.
Jessica Baty said Tuesday that her boyfriend of two years had been taking Xanax, used to treat anxiety, and Ambien, a sleep agent, as well as the antidepressant Prozac.
Baty said the psychiatrist prescribed the medications, a fact that made her so “nervous” that she tried to persuade Kazmierczak to stop taking one of the drugs.
She said he had stopped taking the antidepressant three weeks before the Valentine’s Day rampage on the NIU campus in DeKalb, Illinois, which left five students dead and 16 wounded. He then killed himself.
In an exclusive interview with CNN Sunday, Baty said Kazmierczak had been taking the anti-depressant for obsessive-compulsive tendencies and anxiety caused by school pressures.
She told CNN that, during their two-year courtship, she had never seen him display violent tendencies and she expressed bewilderment over the cause of the rampage.

In The mid eighties , I commented to my wife that the over exposure of violent movies to young
children was dangerous. I told her it wasn’t the just the movie itself. It was the planting of the idea
that this is how you handle violence. Believe me, I am not a censor or an egg headed pop-psychologist. But, without some kind of inhibitor ( religion, parental guidance, or a solid moral
society) it’s monkey see, monkey do. Now we have something that can override our inhibitors.
Our wonderful psychopathic ( yes , I mean psychopathic) drugs. A psychopath or sociopath , both
stem from a lack of a social inhibitor .

The Chemical candidate once again strikes without fear. The drug companies are next on the shit list for honest investigators. The FDA shields are dropping and soon we should fire back with lawsuit after lawsuit then law changes concerning medications for minors and whom can prescribe such drugs and on what qualified, educated, advice does the decision come from.

99% of campus shooters were on psychotropic drugs. they all of a sudden go crazy and kill a bunch of people and everybody jumps at the guns. oh it was the guns fault. guns kill people blah blah blah. same old crap. Now lets compare the two. drugs and guns. guns, inanimate objects that have no connection to your brain. merely a tool that cannot kill unless someone pulls the trigger. drugs, a direct link to your brain. has major effects on body chemistry and thought process. could cause pyshcotic meltdown. seems pretty simple to me. guns do not jump in your hand and make you kill but swallowing a pill might. Are people so blind to this. come on

Every workplace and school shooter is on Prozac or some other psycotropic drug given to them by a doctor, and 90% of the women who kill their children are on these drugs also. The Connecticut lottery murderer was going to use this as his legal defense: The drugs made me do it. And he has a valid point. Dr. Anne Blake Tracy is reporting on this and runs the website Drugawareness.org. One of her major points is that you cannot go cold turkey when you have been taking these class of drugs. It is reported that the Illinois murderer had stopped taking his drugs weeks before the shooting.
They used a madman murderer shooting incident in Australia to ban all guns. And their crime rate went soaring! And that was an inside job. Don’t let it happen here. Expose the liars, cheaters, theives, and murderers for who and what they are. 9/11 was an inside job.

He went on a suicidal rampage when he STOPPED taking his antidepressants. Psychiatric drugs are useful, they just have to be taken very seriously especially decisions of discontinuing, since drugs like Prozac build up and your body becomes adapted\adjusted to them. I agree it is ideal not to be on drugs, but if you are you need to make changes gradually and you should be talking with a counselor (not psychiatrist) as well.

It’s the very fact that after he discontinued the use of these drugs and went on a rampage that is so troubling. Pharmeceutical drugs, especially those three drugs used in tandem are highly addictive, harmful, not to mention the fact that the side effects of these drugs go largely unreasearched before they go on the market, thanks to the corporatistic collusion between big Pharm companies and the FDA. Merck, Glaxo-Smith Kline and the rest of the syndicated companies connected to the inebriation industrial complex aren’t looking to actually alleviate the conditions of their customers, that would undercut their consumer base. They’re in the market to ADDICT people to their products. Thus, when someone whose behavior has been regulated by a cocktail of toxins for so long decides to discontinue the use of these drugs, the intentionally unresearched side effects kick-in resulting in all kinds of psycho-biological chemical imbalances that can obviously produce extremely dangerous, uncontrollable fluctuations in behavior.
