According to International Media outlet,Al Manar:
Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday said Iran was ready for more sanctions and would not bow to pressure in meeting any deadline set by world powers over its nuclear program after global powers pressed the Islamic republic to accept an offer of face-to-face nuclear talks before a key UN meeting in late September.
“No one can impose sanctions on Iran anymore. We welcome sanctions. We have given our proposed package,” Ahmadinejad told reporters after a speech in parliament urging MPs to endorse his 21-member cabinet line-up.
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, said that Tehran will deliver its new package of proposals to world powers in the coming Iranian week, which starts on Saturday. When asked when Iran would deliver its updated package, Jalili, replied: “Very soon. In the coming week.”
[efoods]Senior diplomats from the six world powers, known as P5+1, and the EU, met in Frankfurt on Wednesday urging Iran to accept their offer of direct talks. Earlier, foreign ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi said Iran will not bow to “threat and pressure” in meeting any deadline set by world powers. “We are a nation which believes in dialogue and interaction, but if they (six world powers) want to set up a deadline using threat and pressure, it is not acceptable,” Ghashghavi was quoted on Thursday as saying by the official IRNA news agency.
Ahmadinejad’s reaction comes as Iran’s parliament voted for a majority of 18 out of the 21 members of the new cabinet proposed by the Iranian president, including the Islamic republic’s first-ever woman cabinet minister.
Those rejected were two other women nominees and the energy ministry, which was to be headed by the current vice president Mohammad Aliabadi. Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly for Ahmadinejad’s pick for defense minister, with 227 MPs casting their ballots in favor of Ahmad Vahidi, speaker Ali Larijani told reporters. “I congratulate Mr. Vahidi for getting the highest votes,” Larijani said about the defense minister who is allegedly wanted by Argentina for a 1994 bombing in Buenos Aires. Larijani earlier told reporters that Vahidi had received 276 votes.
Ahead of the vote, the president appealed to parliament to approve his nominees, saying this would send a “punch” to the Islamic republic’s enemies. Hailing the five-day debate as “free and open,” he said this proved that “real democracy exists in Iran.” “Some wanted to weaken the majlis (parliament) and government. But the majlis and the government will stand hand in hand and punch the enemy in its face. We are all one family, although we are independent branches of the system,” he said.
Meanwhile, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie, Ahmadinejad’s close aide and chief of staff, said on Thursday that the Iranian president will attend the UN General Assembly meeting later this month in New York. “He will undertake this trip which will be a good occasion to participate in an international meeting and to encourage Iranian views in managing the world,” Rahim Mashaie told reporters.
