The White House has responded to controversy surrounding Vice President’s recent comments in China where Biden stated that he wasn’t “second-guessing” the nation’s strict one child policy.
Instead, a spokesperson for the White House stated, Vice President Biden finds the policy ‘repugnant,’ going on to explain the official opposition to the policy:
“The Obama Administration strongly opposes all aspects of China’s coercive birth limitation policies, including forced abortion and sterilization.”

The spokesperson pointed out that Biden was trying to warn China about the economic unsustainability of a single wage earner having to support several retired people. The White House is clearly backtracking to contain unfavorable coverage of the Vice President’s remarks.
“But as I was talking to some of your leaders, you share a similar concern here in China. You have no safety net. Your policy has been one which I fully understand — I’m not second-guessing — of one child per family. The result being that you’re in a position where one wage earner will be taking care of four retired people. Not sustainable.”
The full context of the Vice President’s remarks are available in this official transcript.
Of course, the White House has long supported coercive and aggressive family planning policies both officially and unofficially under many presidents. It’s an open secret that the many countries around the world have accepted policies largely dictated by private billionaires, foundations, the United Nations and powerful Western countries like the U.S. A National Security memorandum issued under Henry Kissinger in the 1970s directly advocated forcible population reduction throughout the developing world as a national security priority.
China’s harsh measures were encouraged by the West, so it is no wonder Biden was found ‘understanding’ the policy over in China while finding it ‘repugnant’ here at home in the U.S.
