The years-in-the-making project, which may cost billions over time, got a $181 million start last week when President Obama signed a war spending bill in which Congress agreed to pay for primary construction, power access and security infrastructure. The enormous building, which will have a footprint about three times the size of the Utah State Capitol building, will be constructed on a 200-acre site near the Utah National Guard facility’s runway.
Congressional records show that initial construction — which may begin this year — will include tens of millions in electrical work and utility construction, a $9.3 million vehicle inspection facility, and $6.8 million in perimeter security fencing. The budget also allots $6.5 million for the relocation of an existing access road, communications building and training area.

I agree that of the religions, Muslims will be the hardest to get to accept a one-world-religion system. However, if, as some say the 12th imam or whatever is actually the antichrist, well then, the Muslims will be duped.

highland–actually, what was being talked about between a couple of us is they want to keep an eye on the border to make sure nobody leaves. But like big tim says, they don’t really follow fed laws, but thats mostly the gun laws. And to fake_ear, I’ve only paid taxes three or four times(maybe) in my whole life, and I’m 49. Other than that, I don’t know why they would build a command center here, of all places.

I say so what. NSA does not have and never will have jurisdiction to do anything exclusively in the united states. Wire taps were all on international calls and were done on a judges approval. Also they stimulate the economy everywhere they set up shop and Utah desperately needs that. Furthermore NSA is a civilian organization which means that if somethings really really wrong there is a likely chance the whistle will get blown.

The new facility will revitalize Utah’s economy as it does in Maryland. More civilians in the field of intelligence means that the whistle will more likely be blown then having more military in it. They have stopped multiple terrorist attacks and work to prevent human trafficking all around the world. Terrorist do exist even if they didn’t attack on 9/11.

You really think we can be a superpower without an intelligence agency. Lets also not forget that CRAY supercomputers were invented by NSA workers(who quit so that they had intellectual property rights). Maybe they could build the NSA facility under the SLC Mormon Temple. The Mormons are good at keeping secrets.
