It’s bad enough the Obama administration has pledged trillions to “bailout” the bankers and has made moves to control business in the private sector. Now they want a Soviet-styled media financed and run by the government.

“Influential Los Angeles Times columnist Rosa Brooks has hung up her journalistic hat and joined the Obama administration, but not before penning a public proposal calling for some radical ideas to help bail out the failing news industry,” reports Fox News.
Brooks, who has taken up a post as an adviser at the Pentagon, advocated upping “direct government support for public media” and creating licenses to govern news operations.
“Years of foolish policies have left us with a choice: We can bail out journalism, using tax dollars and granting licenses in ways that encourage robust and independent reporting and commentary, or we can watch, wringing our hands, as more and more top journalists are laid off,” she wrote in her parting column on April 9.
You can only imagine how such licenses would govern Infowars and the alternative media.

In the former Soviet Union, Pravda was an organ of the CPSU Central Committee, while Izvestiya was published by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet.
Ms. Brooks is advocating a likewise scheme here in America, formerly a land that respected the idea of an independent press and the First Amendment. She would put an end to all of this once and for all with her suggestion that media be licensed by the state.
Brooks said her authoritarian scheme would help rescue the corporate media from a “death spiral” and left the government unaccountable to the journalists who must keep it honest. “[I] can’t imagine anything more dangerous than a society in which the news industry has more or less collapsed,” she wrote.
Why is the corporate media in the process of collapsing? Because a growing number of people get their news from the internet and alternative media sources. Large numbers of people no longer trust the corporate media to tell the truth. Corporate media is a dinosaur that needs to either reinvent itself or go the way of the Brontosaurus.
Instead, this Obama appointee wants to turn the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times (where she worked before joining team Obama) into Izvestiya.
But then the argument is academic. The New York Times and the rest of the corporate media is owned and operated by the same corporatist and Wall Street leviathans that financed and supported the Soviet Union.

Actually the acronym is “For unlawful carnal knowledge” and men guilty would spend a day in the stocks with that written on a sign around their necks In Medieval times in England. The origin of the word is older though and it comes from Old Nordic. (language of Viking settlers/raiders).

This reasoning is flawed though because the acronym definition clearly states “Unlawful” therefore taking it out of “Holy union status and making it a sin under Christian law but not really swearing.
There’s a much darker reason why the church conducted marriages and christenings of new born children. Under the Magna carta. (English constitution) the only law that applied to an untitled person was common law. This was only: “do not cause another loss or harm”. In order for incorporated law to be applied a person has to have an official title and all charges made against anyone must be in capital letters and read or said in full with the person acknowledging that he is that person. Otherwise the laws are unenforceable. Therefore illegitimate children couldn’t be controlled and punished by the state which was why Christianity demonized “Bastards” or those born out of wedlock and therefore unregistered.
One of the worst insults in the English language is to call a male, “A fucking bastard”. This means an unregistered person who can’t legally be taxed or hung in the act of producing more bastards. This is where the Christian argument falls apart though: Unregistered men can only be held to common law “Do not harm or cause loss to another” so their out of wedlock sex wasn’t unlawful as long as it was consensual and non-violent.

In 2005 the UN, under John Bolton, conducted secret meetings to draw up plans to regulate world media and it coincided with a resolution in Congress. Those who criticized Israel would be considered ‘terror supporters’ and banned and/or prosecuted and not be able to publish.

1st of all, Freedom of the press is a privilege.
Ms. Brooks its called competition. Also people are intelligent enough and educated enough to know if they don’t like commentaries that attacks personal cultures and ideas. I agree they failed on their own and cannot demand we buy their newspapers.
The only purpose of licensing is to refuse it to infowars unless controlled.
They can’t compete so they need to change the rules to give them the upper leg they require.
The only people or corporations NOT allowed to fail.

Unfortunately, that mistake is in one of the early sequences of THE OBAMA DECEPTION, and many have used it as a way to discredit the whole film.
Hopefully Alex will correct it in later editions.

I mean seriously, nothing can be gained. A lot can be gained. How about deceny and ethics and justice. This is a criminal putting it right in our face. This is a pretty shoddy piece, Infowars.
First, instead of quoting from & linking to the article this woman supposedly wrote, you instead use a secondary source, and Fox News at that.
Secondly, there’s a difference between “state-funded,” and “state-sponsored.”
PBS, for example, is state-funded, but Infowars linked to Bill Moyers’ program on the economy just the other week, and you’ll notice that their status hasn’t stopped privately funded news channels & programs from existing – and thriving – either.
Finally, as valuable as “alternative” media outlets may be, how much actual reporting do they do?
At least 75% of the news on this site itself comes from other sources, and most of that is from newspapers.
So, she’s a hack in a tanking business that wants a bailout – What is surprising about this, how is it different than any other struggling industry that wants government funds, and how, in her role as an “advisor” at the Pentagon, is she going to bring that about, let alone create a single outlet of news sponsored by the state?
You can do better than this.

Here’s a trick I heard from a guy talking on CBC radio today. He was talking in the context of just how easy it is to get something (ANYTHING) pulled from YouTube! Supposedly if a video is posted on youtube, if someone makes a complaint that the video is their material (whether it’s true or not!!!), YouTube will pull it down to avoid the trouble. It might be investigated and found false and the person gets their vid up…….MUCHHH LATER…. but in the immidiate it comes down. Now we all know they suppress most viewed and most hits/popular, so when they put up dribble and crap vids, just make a infingment complaint. Just a couple of thousand do that, all the crap vids will disappear and some of our truth vids will surface again…….for awhile!
