For those Americans who don’t like the traditional version of the American flag, you can visit President Barack Obama’s website and by his new, bastardized, mutilated version for just $35. While you’re at it, you can also choose to make an additional donation to his campaign fund, if you’re so inclined.
This new version of Old Glory was designed by Ross Buggink and Dan Olson of Studio MPLS and one look is all it takes to gauge the size of Obama’s over-inflated ego. The field of stars, representing the 50 individual states, have been removed and replaced with Obama’s logo and the 13 red and white stripes representing the original 13 colonies have been replaced with only nine fading swaths of red and white.
Several Tweets have compared the ugly red stripes to the bloody handprints at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which, in itself, makes this flag truly offensive. But that Obama would go so far as to turn the symbol of our country into a campaign symbol is just plain arrogant, ergo – creepy.
Does he think he’s already won the election? And if so, does he think he also has the authority to change the American flag without consulting anyone? And more important, is he presuming that we’re all happy to be residing in the United States of Obama?
As Jan Barron at Franklin County Republicans pointed out: Is Obama breaking the law with his mutilation of the American Flag? Here’s an excerpt of code 4 USC § 3 – Use of flag for advertising purposes; mutilation of flag posted at the Cornell University Law website:
“Any person who, within the District of Columbia, … shall manufacture, sell, expose for sale, or to public view, or give away or have in possession for sale, … upon which shall have been printed, painted, attached, or otherwise placed a representation of any such flag, … shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $100 or by imprisonment for not more than thirty days, or both, in the discretion of the court. … The words “flag, standard, colors, or ensign”, as used herein, shall include any flag, … by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag, colors, standard, or ensign of the United States of America.”
Imagine you’re a visitor from a foreign country, here on vacation, and you see Obama’s mutilated flag posted on a subway wall or your see it hanging innocently on a wall in your host’s living room. You’d automatically assume this is the American flag simply because it’s red, white and blue.
Depending on what happens in November, we, the American people, could be living under this banner, the flag of the United States of Obama, for the next four years, and then what? Will each new president from now on be allowed to design his own flag, with his own logo up there in the corner
