Obama Pushing Treaty To Ban Reloading

Remember CANDIDATE Barack Obama? The guy who “wasn’t going to take away our guns”?
Well, guess what?
Less than 100 days into his administration, he’s never met a gun he didn’t hate.
A week ago, Obama went to Mexico, whined about the United States, and bemoaned (before the whole world) the fact that he didn’t have the political power to take away our semi-automatics. Nevertheless, that didn’t keep him from pushing additional restrictions on American gun owners.
It’s called the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials. To be sure, this imponderable title masks a really nasty piece of work.
First of all, when the treaty purports to ban the “illicit” manufacture of firearms, what does that mean?
1. “Illicit manufacturing” of firearms is defined as “assembly of firearms [or] ammunition … without a license….”
Hence, reloading ammunition — or putting together a lawful firearm from a kit — is clearly “illicit manufacturing.”
Modifying a firearm in any way would surely be “illicit manufacturing.” And, while it would be a stretch, assembling a firearm after cleaning it could, in any plain reading of the words, come within the screwy definition of “illicit manufacturing.”
2. “Firearm” has a similarly questionable definition.
“[A]ny other weapon” is a “firearm,” according to the treaty — and the term “weapon” is nowhere defined.
So, is a BB gun a “firearm”? Probably.
A toy gun? Possibly.
A pistol grip or firing pin? Probably. And who knows what else.
If these provisions (and others) become the law of the land, the Obama administration could have a heyday in enforcing them. Consider some of the other provisions in the treaty:
* Banning reloading. In Article IV of the treaty, countries commit to adopting “necessary legislative or other measures” to criminalize illicit manufacturing and trafficking in firearms.
Remember that “illicit manufacturing” includes reloading and modifying or assembling a firearm in any way. This would mean that the Obama administration could promulgate regulations banning reloading on the basis of this treaty — just as it is currently circumventing Congress to write legislation taxing greenhouse gases.
* Banning gun clubs. Article IV goes on to state that the criminalized acts should include “association or conspiracy” in connection with said offenses — which is arguably a term broad enough to allow, by regulation, the criminalization of entire pro-gun organizations or gun clubs, based on the facilities which they provide their membership.

We know that Mexico is blaming U.S. gun dealers for the fact that its streets are flowing with blood. And we know it is possible for Mexico to define offenses “committed in its territory” in a very broad way. And we know that we have an extradition obligation under Article XIX of the proposed treaty. So we know that Mexico could try to use the treaty to demand to extradition of American gun dealers.
Under Article XXIX, if Mexico demands the extradition of a lawful American gun dealer, the U.S. would be required to resolve the dispute through “other means of peaceful settlement.”
Does anyone want to risk twenty years in a sweltering Mexican jail on the proposition that the Obama administration would apply this provision in a pro-gun manner?
* Microstamping. Article VI requires “appropriate markings” on firearms. And, it is not inconceivable that this provision could be used to require microstamping of firearms and/or ammunition — a requirement which is clearly intended to impose specifications which are not technologically possible or which are possible only at a prohibitively expensive cost.
* Gun registration. Article XI requires the maintenance of any records, for a “reasonable time,” that the government determines to be necessary to trace firearms. This provision would almost certainly repeal portions of McClure-Volkmer and could arguably be used to require a national registry or database.
ACTION: Write your Senators and urge them to oppose the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.

I am urging you, in the strongest terms, to oppose the Inter-American Convention Against Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials.
This anti-gun treaty was written by international bureaucrats who are either stupid or virulently anti-gun — or both.
This treaty could very well ban the ability to reload ammunition, to put new stocks on rifles lawfully owned by American citizens, and, possibly, even ban BB guns!
There are too many problems with this treaty to mention them all in this letter. The rest can be read on the website of Gun Owners of America at:

Please do not tell me the treaty has not yet been abused in this way by the bevy of Third World countries which have signed it. We do not expect the real ramifications of the treaty to become clear until the big prize — the U.S. — has stepped into the trap.

At the risk of sound like a naysayer, I do not necessarily agree with this letter writing campaign. We live in a society which allows politicians to do as they will regardless of the Constitution or written laws, so what makes you think they will pay any attention to a letter like this? The Constitution in part says “the right of the people to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed”. Yet even having this guarantee stated in the Constitution, we have the gun control act of 1968 along with all the other restrictions these idiots have passed, and we the people have allowed this to occur. And after all of this, this debate continues, and frankly it is getting a bit old. I am a gun owner, and proud to be one, and will state this with no reservations, that I will die on my feet rather than live on my knees! If a letter writing campaign should take place at all that may get their attention, perhaps wisdom would dictate this as follows:
Dear Senator Dumbass
What part of “shall not be infringed” do you not understand? If you want hell on earth, vote for the legislation you are presented with, otherwise vote this crap down and show you truly do care for the people of the United States. You criminals have done quite enough to this nation and we are taking it back. Got the picture?

YES SIR!! i agree! i know from another point of view it seems that all americans are idiots to what is really going on. this is mostly true. but there are some of us who truly believe in freedom, and our constitution and want a better way to do things, we are not all completely brain dead. but i see it everyday, and it makes me want to kill myself. because this world is sickening. but at the same time, i know damn well i was meant to lead and fight for what is right, even against all odds, i will fight to the death in any situation to help free man-kind. i can only hope there are enough of us out there who are willing to go the extra LONG MILE to the end. by the time i am an old man, id like to be well known for saving humanity against tyranny. that is a personal goal and dream of mine. I noticed, and your post hits the nail on the head. Consumerism as you speak of with all the shit people surround themselves with, beating each other up to get to the “top”. What a damned joke! I will also defend the Constitution and our rights until my last breath if that is the way it needs to be. These current events some say have been prophesized and must happen, and to me that is a sheeple defeatist attitude. Many good people are doing NOTHING except looking for the next piece of tail, worrying about their looks, what car they drive, drowning in beer and sports, and well…you know what I am saying. Money and the worry associated is a bitter pill to swallow. We are born into this system of slavery to the IRS and the Crown Corporation. Many claim individual sovereignty and I am working on it. It will be difficult with my wife’s health issues and needing the system to survive. Starting a small business a year ago is weighing heavily on my shoulders, but I will not let it defeat me and use the excuse of the economic woes. I don’t mean to rant, but native from Texas, I feel your pain. It is time to water the Tree of Liberty, and has been for awhile….I will be waitng with two fistfuls of lead when the rain comes…. Not even the National Guard crossed the bridge into Little Algiers for fear of being fired upon for trying to seize lawfully owned firearms from people whom were defending themselves from roving bands of criminals.
Its a proven fact that the O’Ho media did not publish. Do a Google search and read. It will hearten you to know, some Americans reverted back to the fundamentals of how to work together and survive and stay safe.

The PTB can pass all the gun laws they want but that will not accomplish anything for them. Nobody is ever going to turn in their firearms. Those that do will be talked about in past tense and those that keep them know when to use them. But have no fear. If the shtf, guns will be plentiful! Trust me! I will purchase no more guns because of the reg laws. Govt does not need to know if I have weapons or not. Let them come and find out for themselves. Propane tanks on gas grills make great IED’s when concealed in planters. They will not get to my door! But check out what the French resistance did in concert with the Americans during WWII.

Sometimes I think people just like to stir up contraversy over the 2nd Amendment. You see, all treaties made are “under the authority (laws) of the United States” and the 2nd Amendment is one of laws/rights specifically mentioned in our Supreme Law of the Land (In case you didn’t know, the term “Land” includes the United States), i.e. the Constitution. Therefore, no treaty as well as any bill, regulation, resolution, etc. can violate that Constitutional amendment. Do you get it!
Now this question should be easy for you, does the President have the authority to violate the Constitution? The answer is “Not lawfully!” Has some of our Presidents been able to violate our Constitution anyway? Yes! Should we impeach all of them for their violations of our Supreme Law? Yes! After all, these court cases should make it perfectly clear that neither the Congress nor the President has NO AUTHORITY TO VIOLATE THE CONSTITUTION:

Yes, our checks and balances have been upset because we have too many traitors and/or cowards (Democrats and Republicans) in key positions of our government and they cover for each other. For example, they are trying to let the people in government/military off the hook for torturing prisoners as we speak. It is my personal belief that these are frequently over-looked by attorneys general, et. al. in the belief that the people are too ignorant to understand the importance of previous court decisions and their meaning. Or to understand that such rulings even exist. How can you get these citations in front of the majority of the populace? Perhaps the NRA would publish them for you/us.

They should not let the military powers of the world silently neglect Article 26, but should instead ostracize those who have prevented it from coming to fruition, just as those states outside of the Ottawa Convention (Mine Ban Treaty) have been ostracized enough to comply with most of the provisions under the Convention despite being non-state parties.
Civil society and governments alike should:
* Call on the Security Council to report on progress made towards a plan to reduce the human and economic resources spent on armaments;
* Request that, within one year, the Office of Legal Affairs, Office for Disarmament Affairs, individual governments, and NGOs report on ways and means for implementing Article 26;
* Indicate an intention to evaluate the Security Council’s performance and initiatives towards advancing Article 26 in the next General Assembly session;
* Call on the world’s disarmament experts concentrated in Geneva at the Conference on Disarmament to report on various paths of action that could be taken up to ensure that the Article 26 obligation is fulfilled, in the interests of revitalizing the First Committee to undertake the tasks for which it was created, and revitalizing the Conference on Disarmament which has been blocked for 9 years.
Delegations to the UNGA First Committee on Disarmament and International Security could promote and adopt a resolution containing the above elements. In addition, they could draft a UN Convention or Protocol on implementing Article 26, as the Arms Reduction Coalition has done, calling on all UN member states to make a legally-binding commitment to reducing the diversion for armaments of their state’s human and economic resources by an agreed percentage per year.
Governments must report military spending and arms trade: The United Nations established a Register of Conventional Arms to enhance transparency of international arms transfers, procurement through national production, holdings, and relevant policies, and an Instrument for Reporting Military Expenditures to enhance transparency of spending on military personnel, operations, maintenance, procurement, construction, research, and development.
However, in any given year, less than a third of UN member states contribute to the Instrument for Reporting Military Expenditures. More states participate in the Register of Conventional Arms; 117 participated in 2005.
While these tools make an effort to enhance transparency in armaments and military expenditures, which is necessary for building confidence between governments, they are no replacement for a formalized plan to reduce armaments and expenditures.
Make the reduction of militarism a global norm: To implement sustained pressure on governments, civil society must be behind the concepts of reduced military spending, disarmament, and human security. Attitudes toward militarism must be changed, through sustained development of a culture of peace, in order to help shift policies and budgets onto different paths. This can be done primarily through education (see the Hague Appeal for Peace and PeaceBoat). Disarmament will require democratic action; citizens need to engage with each other and their elected officials on this issue

I agree with you. thank you for posting the great legal cites. You must be a big fan of Ron Paul. The establishment routinely ignores established rule of law-its the norm. Right is wrong wrong is right and everything is upside down -especially the American legal system.

The Uniform Code of Military Justice is one of my favorite documents, the problem is that usually, the only time its applied is when they want to put a good guy down, in other words misapply it and its always top down.
I actually quit the military as a coscientious objector to that kind of crap (corrupt leadership) and, much to the my Command’s dismay (and despite their evil efforts), i survived with a good conduct discharge (maybe i was ultra clean /honorable AND LUCKY).
And didn’t you notice that the enlisted ranks were thrown under the bus and the intelligence officers who headed up the ‘enhanced interrogation’ operations in iraq were totally hands off? If youre in charge of something, youre supposed to be held responsible for your decisions not the people you threatened and coerced into carrying out your will. Don’t you think?

-Titles of Nobility (i.e. Esquire, Dr., etc..) or the licensing of trades /professions are unconstitutional see the original 13th Amendment to the Constitution ~’there shall be no titles of Nobility’
-~’Driving is not merely a privelege, but a right’ see Texas supreme court
-The Un-American establishment has changed laws by simply renumbering them and not reprinting them. See Texas’ right to legal counsel – article on front page of the Dallas Morning News asserting same and being denied by then governor now president George W Bush, and statute later being reinstated when proved out by archival evidence as having been simply edited out of the final printing for many years.
-The common law courts have been merged and squeezed out of existence with maritime law. high tide is aparently now at least 3000 feet.

Any laws that runs contrary to the Constitutional Bill of Rights are illegal, therefore citizens are not obligated to follow them. You can choose to obey non legal laws, be submissive and live a life of slavery & insignificance. Obongo plans to put our troops under U.N. flag, blue helmets and all to enforce the gun confiscation outlined in this treaty. They are not worried about casualties, because fully half of their troops will come from other countries where the rights of the individual do not exist. Those of you who don’t know how to reload, go buy a reloading kit, powder and primers now! For those on a budget, the old fashioned Lee Loader is a great way to start and you will learn faster about working up custom handloads than you would with a more expensive piece of equipment. The only drawback with the Lee Loader is it is awfully slow and it may take a while to load up a thousand rounds. The difference in accuracy with custom loads versus factory ammo will astound you! Whereas one minute of angle accuracy might be possible with some factory loads, half and even quarter minute of angle results are possible in certain flat shooting rifle calibers. But having superior ammo is only half the story. You need to practice, practice, practice your marksmanship. If your local range is acting like politically correct fuckheads, you need to find a buddy or relative with land in the country. Work on your craft and become a rifleman. There is a program I recommend that is rapidly spreading across the country called the Appleseed Program. Trained instructors at hundreds of these events will transform you from a spray and pray shooter to a highly skilled marksman or even sniper. There you will find that there are over 1500 recently passed or pending bills. This is the norm for congress. One of the weaknesses in our constitution is term limits. While the intent was to control corruption, term limits also produce a need for represantives to make their mark while they can. None of them can leave well enough alone. The more laws they pass, the more freedom we all lose.
If we (the people of the united states) are to regain control of our government, we should learn from what has gone wrong. It would be wise to amend the constitution to include bill caps, or even moratoriums on congress, that would slow the passage of legislation. Systems should be put in place to force out trivial legislation. Of course, we would first want to suspend all legislation passed since 1900 and review it quickly, keeping only those laws which are necessary and do not violate the constitution.

Why is it bad if the government wants to tag your bullets, what have you got to hide? ‘Assault’ is defined as an unlawful use of force. For most people, a semi-automatic rifle is a defense weapon. A baseball bat can be used as a piece of recreational equipment, or a tool to use at work(baseball players), or as a defense weapon, or as an assault weapon.
There are about 200 million guns in America and 300 million people. The reason the government is not nastier is because government leaders are concerned that they will be shot by those affected by their actions. Taking on Kevlar clad government personnel is not what they are worried about. Take away the guns and we will see our ’servants’ become our master.

AP- WASHINGTON D.C. – In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency, the group “Americans for Freedom of Information” has released copies of President Obama’s college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the school. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama’s detractors have been seeking.
The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama’s legitimacy and qualification to serve as president. When reached for comment in London, where he has been in meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Obama smiled but refused comment on the issue. Meanwhile, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs scoffed at the report stating that this was obviously another attempt by a right-wing conservative group to discredit the president and undermine the administration’s efforts to move the country in a new direction.
Britain’s Daily Mail has also carried the story in a front-page article titled, “Obama Eligibility Questioned”, leading some to speculate that the story may overshadow economic issues on Obama’s first official visit to the U.K.
In a related matter, under growing pressure from several groups, Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama’s legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey. This lawsuit claims Obama’s dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. Donofrio’s case is just one of 18 suits brought by citizens demanding proof of Obama’s citizenship or qualification to serve as president.
Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama’s campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records. Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still ongoing but that the final report will be provided to the U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder. Mr. Holder has refused to comment on the matter.

I think that it is very important for everyone to remember that the government isnt “anti-gun” or any of that crap. They just dont want US to have them!! they know that this country is on the verge of revolution, wether their way or ours. there way is to ban all weapons, ammunition, tell you that you cant grow food or use any of our own naural resourses. remember that they consider us “terrorists” as it is, so why would they be anti gun at all. They are making an even bigger deal about this now because since they have even dropped the line gun ban, people bought enough guns to supply two armies. and since everyone was quick to confront them and say what the hell are you doing, these are our rights, they are now just putting the gun ban on the chopping block. they are gonna start out with massive price gouging, starting with guns and ammo. that was steps 1 and 2. when that didnt work, they moved to step 3, which was to cut the supply of everything gun related, notice how hard it is to find ammo and supplies for most guns, and it is getting pretty scarse when it comes to buying guns right now as well. step 4, they purposed the act that will end the use of all brass so that you can not reload them. notice how alot of bullets are coming out of the boxes with aluminum metal casings all of a sudden. now is step 5, which is the new one he is trying to pass- reloading. that means that more than likely they will ban all reloading equipment as well and they will stop selling it. it might even come down to having to turn in stuff like that in to the government as well. you may think not, but most people do not know that the us military has been asking our own us soldiers to turn in all personal guns and reloading equipement already. so you know that its coming our way fro sure. now if you put all of these things into one,its pretty much the gun ban law. our second amendment is already compromised, and taken away.

If you ask me, the ban has already happened. No primers can be had, bullets are on backorder from manufacturers with no delivery date available. Most of the ranges here in Tn are not selling ammo, reserving it for their ccw classes. None of the Tn commercial reloaders can get components they need – primers on backorder since October ‘08. It’s already here guys !

It would be great if there were guidelines of what we can and cannot say on here! I think I may have got taken off because I said something improper on here! I f so I apolijize as I realize Alex has to be selective as these scumbags are itching for a reason to pull his site down! However, the whole dam thing is so surreal I believe that is what holds some people back from jumping in rolling up their sleeves and pitching in to save their country! I’ve got a hell of a time with my wife as she is so stuck to main stream media, what our kids are telling her as as all of them don’t believe it either, I am ashamed to admit I am absolutely unable to wake her up!
This just makes it double hard to get ready for D day! I have told her when Baba comes in with his Ak47 plants one between my eyes rapes and kills her, she should tell him to stop and wait until she phones in the news story to CNN!
Anyone else have the same problem and suggestions?

Do you really think that the USA is the only ” Free ” country on this planet ?
I also enjoy , freedom of speech , press , right to vote etc etc , but I don´t have to worry as much as a citizen of the USA about being shot by some nut with a gun due to the reasonable gun laws in effect. I also get to drive really fast on the highway.
I don´t think I have to worry about chains , and by the way , the house in Austin is just a vacation cabin on Lake Travis.
