Obama to Send More Troops to Iraq

The troops are what the military calls “combat enablers” — noncombat troops who specialize in areas such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; explosives ordnance disposal; medical and mental health; and personnel administration. They will deploy in team-sized elements as opposed to larger units, according to the official, who asked not to be identified.
About 1,000 such troops also will deploy to Iraq, the official said, adding that both groups are being sent in response to existing requests by the theater commanders in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The so-called “request for forces” was approved two weeks ago by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, the official said.
That request has been forwarded to U.S. Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, Va., which is now identifying the troops to be deployed and the services from which they’ll be drawn.
As such, no deployment orders have been signed and no time frame for the deployments has yet been finalized, the official said.

Thanks for the reply! So your saying that you believe that informing the troops that are overseas currently fighting is a good thing. I spoke with my dad which was in the navy as well and he felt that it would affect a soldier that is over fighting in iraq etc… if you dont believe in what your fighting for could you mentally become weak and get yourself killed? Would it be better to only inform the troops that are home. Can you give me your thoughts or how you felt when you were on that nuclear aircraft carrier and woke up to some of these harsh reality’s?

All soldiers aside from SF or Rangers know well….very well in advance when they will deploy and where to. They have to know because they have to do pre-deployment training. they dont release the information for many reasons, safety being one of those reasons. Often brigade commanders know up to a year in advace of upcoming deployments, like my husband is to deploy Fall of 2010 to Iraq..(yes Iraq not afghanistan) it would be foolish to tell the civilians of this information it could comprimise the mission and lives of soldiers….because if its in the mainstream for civilians then its there for the enemy to know as well….defeats the purpose, defeats possible negotiations. My husband is also Army, he is a 1st SGT and has 18 years of service and I have been around the military all my life…I dont want my family comprimised because someone thinks they deserve to be told every little thing about what, when and where troops are deploying…

Yes, I am aware of Military protocol, I was an MP in the First version of Iraq! I am not saying and have never said that the Government should relay everything to the open source media like the Liberals seem to want! But what I do say, is don’t lie to everyone telling them that the war is going well, and the reality is that we are getting our troops home with Dogstags in their teeth!
Our missions to Iraq, and Afghanistan have changed slightly from the dribble that first had gotten us engaged over there in the first place! Now with Obama at the helm, it is just the same hustle with a different bent!
We go to Afghanistan to secure the Opium Poppies for the Pharmacuetical Companies, as well as securing the Pipeline that the Taliban would NEVER allow before with Unical Oil!
We go to Iraq, and tell our Soldiers that their Mission is to stop Al-qaeda from using it as a window into Afghanistan, when in the reality of it, most of the time, when our soldiers are in the outer regions, they are actually making incursions into Iran!
I am an Army brat from a long line of Soldiers, I too, am well versed in the Politics of Military life and deployment! But it doesn’t make the case that it is the right thing to be doing!
Ask your husband, Does his action in Iraq actually secure the Iraqi people or the American people?

I am definitely not one to say all that crap about my husband signing up to protect our freedom, but some people just don’t have a lot of options. You have seen this country, and I am sorry we just didn’t want to live off a barely over min. wage job the rest of our lives, that does not however mean that we can’t be opposed to a war…… and just to bring them all home is the most irresponsible dribble i have ever heard. There are serious reasons why you can’t pull out that many combat troups all at once. We may not like the mess Bush had put us in over there but there is a smarter way then that to get everyone home as safely as possible. I also find it absolutely asstounding that so many people are so dead set on this august date….. I get that that was the date put out, but things change and I will not get upset if ALL combat troups are not home by then as long as the numbers are not the same and there is a significant decrease in troups there…… my husband is a big gun and each deployment he has been on he has gone over as infantry, the guys there are not idiots as so many of americans seem to think

I do not agree with the war but those soldiers and marines are there because they chose to be there and now that the war has been going on for so long, most of them joined while knowing full-well what was going on. [joined up after the wars started]
If they were draftees then they would have a legit reason to complain.
I was drafted in 68. During some months while I was in Nam we lost 1000+ per month and got paid something like 16 cents per hour. When our country went to all volunteers they got a great big pay raise. My wife and son got about 160 dollars per month to pay for her rent groceries, utilities,etc. As a cpl. with hazard pay I got about 240 per month and all but 30 of that per month went home to help feed and clothe my family.
I question their sanity more than feeling sorry for them. They are doing their CHOSEN profession. Nobody pulled the wool over these men and women’s eyes. They probably should have talked to some old veterans before choosing to be mercenaries for such a small salary.
I do feel sorry for any of them that had fathers or grandfathers that may have encouraged them to be mercenaries. Had they talked to me or hundreds of thousands like me , we would have attempted to tell them how un-rewarding it is to kill folks and just what to expect from their country and countrymen after serving in a combat unit.

I assume you are posting this from either Iraq or Afghanistan. How many “IED” sites have you cleaned up after or how many young have you watched or even held as they painfully drew their last breaths?
I do not like muslims but I do not want any child hurt. If you have been around many kids and just sat back and observed them play then you know that we are all the same are at least we all start out the same. Anybody that desires any harm on a child should be killed as soon as possible just like a rabid dog. There is no evil as bad as hurting a little child.

The one thing that does not need proving is that our government officials were grossly negligent if it all went down as they claim it did. At the very least that means 3000 negligent homocides. How much time should a person be sentenced to for negligent homocide x 3000?
If the govt. story is true then it could have all been prevented. Did they let it happen on purpose or simply not give a damn? Either way they are guilty of at least negligent homocide.
Either way the American people are justified in wanting to see some executions of some government officials.

I wish you could convince your brothers of that so that the prostitutes,drugs and drive-bys would stay in there neighborhoods and stop bringing down the real estate values of any place they choose to move into and make it dirty and dangerous.
It is the blacks that keep wanting to get close to the whites not the other way around. The Blacks that I know move away from their own kind because they themselves are afraid to live in black neighborhoods. They do not want to do business with black doctors,black lawyers,or even want black contractors building their homes or repairing their cars or air conditioners. They do not feel safe and confident when dealing with their own kind. They do not even like to buy drugs from black pushers else they are sure to be ripped off. They even avoid black prostitutes out of fear of robbery or catching a disease.
I for one believe that blacks have the potential to do well. That is why I don’t cut them any slack. They have no excuse. They can do better. Treating them as if they should not be expected to perform on a human level only harms them and keeps them down. You are your own worse enemy. You are just a crab in the bottom of the bucket that spends his time and energy pulling the other crabs back down to the bottom if they attempt to climb over the top.

Theres no reason now for us to be over there. We should pull our troops back and bring them home so we can strengthen our defence and protect our borders. our military has been compramized and weakend fighting on the ground. I say we should strike them by air and only send our boys in to pick up the pieces. Makes me wonder what our military comanders are thinking or if they are capable of conducting a conflict in a suficint forcefull manner. If we fight like we mean it this conflict would already be over with less casualties on both sides. Our enimies understand streangth. Read the article again. The guy that was shot was a different guy. The article plainly states the two names. They are not the same. The shoe thrower that nearly hit bush was a journalist,the guy that was shot was reported to be mentally ill. They had different names. The article does not even imply that it was the same guy that threw his shoe at bush,
This is how wild rumors get started. Read the whole article and assume nothing.

Can someone get this message to Alex Jones. It is important! On August 23, Jason Bermas was substituting for Alex Jones. A man called in and dogged Bermas out. The same man called in yesterday to Alex and asked if he could work for Alex. His name was VANCE and he lived in Austin TEXAS! If you go to the August 23 show on Sunday with Bermas and go to the 1:48:44 point on the show you can hear the same guy trying to get a job with Alex yesterday.

I wrote this 911 article for people who haven’t been exposed to 911 truth and who aren’t likely to take the innitiative to research it themselves. I believe we can still reach those people. They are not going to go digging into 911 at this late date, but if they take fifteen minutes to read the article it will leave nagging questions in their mind that will not be easily dismissed. People who are now on the sidelines can still be brought into the game. They may never be first string but they could at least become supporters. More than anything, people just need a little help to wake up from their propaganda enduced stupor.
I would like to see people all over the world use it as a tool, as a handout, to put on windshields etc. I have given them to friends and family, firefighters, and police. I have handed them out outside the Clinton presidential library and on the streets in Little Rock. I have left them on windshields outside of VFW’s and American Legions’s. It has been very effective.
