Obama Wants Vets to Pay For Service Related Injuries

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.
But the proposal would be “dead on arrival” if it’s sent to Congress, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, said.

No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama voicing their opposition to the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration.
The groups also cited an increase in “third-party collections” estimated in the 2010 budget proposal — something they said could be achieved only if the Veterans Administration started billing for service-related injuries.
Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under “consideration.”
“A final decision hasn’t been made yet,” he said.

These poor guys and gals that do get injured get s---ty care from the VA to begin with. Making them pay for this type of “care” is absolutely insane!! I believe that EVERY citizen that goes to war (justified or not) should get a million dollars AND free health care for the rest of their lives!! They should ALSO live tax free for the rest of their lives as well. This would no doubt force the government to think VERY seriously about starting wars to begin with. The people that end up fighting and dieing for these assholes that send them to war are treated as 2nd class citizens while dickhead pro ball players are put up on pedestals.
The people of this nation had better wake the hell up and smell the fascism.

My father was a vet, and when he got cancer, the VA used him like a guina pig. We tried to find his medical records, but they all disappeared, I wonder why?
I agree with you Beavis, our brave troops should be treated like royalty. I think you have some very interesting ideas. After these men and women risk their lives for us, they should never have to worry about money again.
What they must be going through, it just makes me sick to think of it. After I saw an online beheading, it makes you realize what our troops are up against.
Everyday, they are keeping us safe from harm, and I appreciate that. We owe them so much.

As a Iraq War Veteran I know this is going on, they do not want to pay for any service related injuries. While the VA is processing claims a little faster they still make you jump thru so many hoops that you feel like giving up your claim. I LIKE OTHERS ARE BROKEN NEEDED TO BE FIXED, FOUGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY AND NOW THEY ASK US, LIKE THEY ASKED ME TO GO AND GET A MEDICAL EXAM OUT OF MY POCKET. The number of Americans who voluntarily enlist in the military whose goal is to willfully fight for the establishment of the NWO is micro-fractional.
People enlist for economic reasons or for various opportunities (college funds, education, and so on). Some may enlist solely to serve America and defend the founding principles and citizens’ rights.
The Pentagon does urinate on servicemen who are disabled to any degree. A friend who has a terminal neurological disease is forced to travel 3-4 hours to reach a VA clinic for treatment because the military turned him out of the center that was 45 minutes away.
Also, if a member receives compensation for their disability he has to fight the IRS because it is taxed initially. My husband had to fight the IRS for ten months to have returned to him the significant amount of money that was taxed.
This is typical of the government, though.

Carla, I have never been in the military but I worked on a military ammunition supply depot as a civilian for almost 7 years (although i wont say where its at) and about 90% of the employees there were post military and yes most of them were aggressive and bullish. I couldnt stand being around the psychos anymore so I quit.. thats the honest truth, I’m not making this up.

I hear you pal. My step father believed in what he was doing when he went to Nam. It took a little while for him to figure it out. We all are taught when we are young that this country is the greatest country on earth. I believe it would be if our government wasn’t hijacked. Most who fight for this country are 18 to 25 years old. I don’t understand why people blame young men and women for doing what they are told is right by those placed in authority. Monkey is correct. Psychological profiling shows many of the volunteer “young men and women” possess certain disturbing characteristics and being young and naive seems a pretty lame reason to agree to kill. Of course, the present recruits, in many cases, have been conditioned by video games etc. Nonetheless, it seems to be the case that bullies/sadists etc. tend to gravitate towards positions offering a level of petty power over their fellowmen.
It’s a historical fact that False Flag events have repeatedly fooled people into going to war. Another historical fact is that the US has never been involved in a JUST foreign war, hence, the justification for joining up to “defend the country” has never been valid. It is tragic how the “Empire” disposes of vets from every illegal war/invasion; however, it should come as no surprise your masters lose interest once their minions cease to be useful. I grew up on military bases, and really, these military types are just like anyone else. Just like in civilian life, you have your bullies too, but all in all they are no different from anyone else.
I have really great memories of all the perks us kids enjoyed while living on base. We still tell stories about the saliors who had to take care of all the kids while mom and dad shopped at the commisary where kids were not allowed. These sailors were still just kids themselves and we had a lot of fun with them.
We also got to go on an aircraft carrier and watch the jets land and take off. And of course there were plenty of air shows to watch too. It was a very exciting life. All these years later we realize what a what a great childhood we had living on base.
As far as mental disorders, I am sure these people are weeded out early on. I don’t think you are in a position to say things like that if you never really lived around “military types” like I have.

My father was a vet, and my mother even gets 100% free medical care for life, paid for by the US government! She just had two knee surgeries and she did not have to pay a dime out of pocket. She did not have to go to a VA hospital either, she just showed her Tri Care card and she was good to go.
Certainly our active troops should have the same kind of health insurance as a vet’s widow.

Its funny to hear this now when back when iraq started 2003 service member injuries outside theater were much harder to get any government coverage. The thing is they would treat you then flip you a bill. And if the injury was serious they would pull a “its not nessary for this treatment due to it doesnt fall under a criterier of requirerments” This bullet dodging has been going on for years now. And i have witnessed this from people i know. Sad world but hay it generates money in not spending it. Its all about care and it seems that the leadership at the top dont care they see you as a number and a peice of paper no realization that your a person just like they are. But they get the full coverage and perks while the rest suffer there consiqenses…

I don’t know what VA you have been going to, but I have been in two VA systems. After I was medically retired I was receiving excellent service at the VA in White City Oregon. I then moved Michigan and for nearly 9 years I was in the Ann Arbor System. I am also in the Portland and Roseburg Systems for Cardiac care. I have absloutely nothing negative to say about any provider. If you have something legitamitaly wrong and it’s service-connected you will get the best possible care you can get. Ann Arbor uses UofM doctors and Portland uses OHSC doctors for their facility. What Obama is considering will ruin all of that and if you want to see some pissed off folks, let that bill pass.

I understand some of what the vets go through. Some have been mentally made to mush, and some vets are afraid to speak up, especially the working for the fed vets because of losing whatever benefits they already do have. I have spoke up on occasions only to be discriminated against and not to be an advocate for them. I have seen a nurse tell a vet who was nearly in tears in a wheelchair and on an oxygen tank coming from another appointment 15 min late and lives 2 hours away. The nurse said I am sorry you have to reschedule. I ask the doctor to please speak to the vet even if he couldn’t see him even though I was just a peon that I had to go through the nurse to speak to the doctor. The doctor not only spoke to him, but took time out to see him. It is going to get worse unless our vets start speaking up.

They should be set for life, with no worries.

While it is as if I am “preaching to the choir,” to many of you, I feel that it can’t be said enough. The average American is being played like a sad song on the way to a train wreck. To the average American, this whole world is an illusion and they have no idea where the rubber hits the rode to reality. They have the have an ideological concept of a world, and country that only exist in imagination, and fairy tales.
We have an administration presently in power that wants to drain every drop of power out of the positions they hold, not for the people, but for themselves, and more importantly the special interest that they secretly support, and in turn receive compensation from.
What the present administration is doing, is no more than bait and switch tactics that con-men have used for centuries. They make promises they can’t keep, and sell smoke and call it fire. They promised better care, and support for veterans, and now we see what the the rest of the story is.
Did not the present administration learn anything from the treatment that was afforded to veterans of both Vietnam, and Iraq1? Oops, I guess they did, he wants to screw the vets now getting out just like those before have all got screwed. No change, just a different face.

I am a Viet Nam vet and I didn’t make it to the wall like 55,000 plus of my fellow Americans did. Another tradgedy bestowed on us by our elected lawmakers, politicians and trusted leaders of our great country. They decide and we go and die==or wish we had. This has gotten worse since the first world war. Myself and many other veterans of the wars we have fought will go to our graves wondering why our families suffered because of our losses whether we died or not because if we didn’t die in combat, we died when we came back and tried to make it in real life. I have a grandson but I wish I didn’t because life doesn’t change for people in this country–it just keeps getting worse and the people that ruin our great nation are much too powerful for us to control. We need to make this country what it was meant to be–something we can be proud of–something that our children will be proud of. We need to Unite.

I was drafted in 1968 off a job where I supported myself,my wife and first son. I was 20 yrs.old and doing what I was supposed to be doing to be a good citizen. My first son was 3 weeks old when I got on a plane for Nam. It was prison or Viet Nam. I worked for 33 years after I returned with disabilities[a choice I didn't have to] but now draw a little ofer $4000 tax free dollars per month and get all my medical and prescriptions free. I am pretty much immune to legal prosecution because they say I am crazy and no they did not take my guns. I own some big ones and some not so big ones and hardly ever miss.

To report this as news only shows how ignorant the American people are about the daily abuse the veterans tolerate. The VA is the most ineffective, blatantly idiotic, evil, eugenicks focused organization this country has ever spawned. Anyone that has had the misfortune of being “seen” at a VA hospital or had to file for benefits can tell you that. I’ve been fighting these VA bastards for years. Its a fight you cannot win, they write the rules, they bend the rules, and they make it up as they go along and vets have NO recourse. Its a joke. My case would be open and shut in the “private sector” but because I have to use this bogus system full of beurocratic turds that couldn’t survive one day on a real job, I’m stuck in a perpetual hampster wheel of paperwork! I don’t even care anymore if they give me what I rightfully deserve, I intend to file, file, file, file, file, and refile and refile and refile, just to drown them in there own red tape. I have hopes that by doing so the shear weight of the work will cause one or two of these bastards to stroke out, have a heart attack, or something, just as their dirty tricks and BS has harmed me, my family, and every veteran I’ve ever known. The people are too stupid, too arrogant, too slothfull and pathetic to change this system and give vets what is needed and promised, but never seen. I’m unemployed from my injury but fixed myself and am looking for work, I’ve seen many jobs at the VA that I could do and my military service would count towards retirement. It would be a smart thing for me to work for them, but hate them so much and I hate what they represent, I’d rather choke on my own tongue!

It really hurts to know there are actually people out there that are so selfish to feel like a vetran should have to pay there own medical bills but yet i bet if you got hurt at work you would want to be taken care of, compensated in everyway possible. now times that by a thousand put a price tag on your arm or your leg, and please tell me if you would be brave enough to go over seas to know that your arm your leg or your life could be sacrficed for this country and know that if you come home alive the one that is supose to be supporting you one hundred percent of the way, our president, turned the other cheek on you. said thank you for your support but you arent a member because you have gotten hurt your useless and because of this the president refuses to pay. please everyone that agrees with this take a minute to think about how many lives were sacrificed how many children were left behind not to mention all the other family members and tell me you still feel this is right and if you still feel that this is right, God have mercy on your soul.

I tried to tell my brother why he shoud not go to Vietnam. He was young ,gung ho and brain washed ..My brother died age 34.. He was repeatedly sprayed with agent orange when serving in the millitary. The EVIL U.S. Government denied agent orange was toxic to humans..

GRUMP are you for real or are you a terrorist in this great country called “America”? I’ve been deployed numerous times in my very close to 18 years of active duty service, luckily I have not been injured. If your not willing to honor and support those who serve this country (which you live in), then take your frivolous pennies to a 3rd world country of your choice and voice your “intelligent” opinions there!
