While I wouldn’t exactly call the police the enemy (naive puppets of the state is a better term) I agree with the gist of what he said. We can’t trust the police and we want to know of any wrongdoing so we should listen to what they’re saying.

Yeah, info is important but you are ill-informed if you think you can obtain information regarding the police-state activities from a scanner. Most agencies have gone to email only communications.
Ever notice the laptops in law enforcement vehicles? They solved the scanner issue quite some time ago.

All those cops in riot gear are not emailing! They are using radio communications which requires repeaters. Every single one of them has a radio strapped to their belt and a mic clipped to their collar. Some local communications can be accomplished on simplex, but most must be routed through the network. Which means they can be intercepted via scanner.
They tried to solve the scanner issue by outlawing them and that didn’t work.
Emergencies are NOT handled via email.

you are only partially correct…many smaller towns do not have laptops in their cars…also no tac team is going to be emailing anyone…knowing local freq’s,police,Civil Defense,fire,EMT’s is all good knowledge

Here in Seattle, if you wanted to mobilize all, and I do mean all, the cops in the city, its when “one of their own ” is having a funeral, so while they’re all paying their respects, it would be an excellent window of opportunity to commit crimes. I’m not saying kill one, I’m just talking from my speculation over the years, also when they die in auto wrecks and altercations in the line of duty, these are particularly well attended funerals. Is it the same in your town?

There are scanners that can pick up those signals…the info you program into your scanner is available all over the web…most major cities in the US are using the technology you mentioned (not in rural areas, they don’t have the money) and folks are still listening to them…yo can even listen to the International Space Station of you want…

Even third world countries, even China and Russia, etc can do espenoge with this type. This online scanner stuff can be a problem and just like online internet radio being a problem cause of the so called royalities that the gov’t made up to shut down the great internet radio

I used to use “Scanner Recorder” (free) to save the comms – but recorded them in wav format and I had to convert them into mp3 for archiving. You can set the squelch so it only records when active. Now I use Easemp3recorder (free) to record Alan Watts and Bo Gritz (discriminately) daily. It also has a sensitivity setting to only record while active. I have my FTA sat dish and receiver also fed into a switchbox with several inputs going in to my soundcard.

This is no joke. After playing with radios for 33+ years I can only say that if someone really wants some real entertainment find someone that will show you how to use a scanner. I prefer the GRE made models(Radio Shack) over the Uniden brand because of sound quality. And no I never hook up a scanner to my computer. Radioreference.com is a powerful tool for information on frequencies. As a licensed amateur radio operator I am exempt from those scanner laws. The local cops know that I have more radios in my car than their squad car and can’t do a damn thing about it. So go get a easy entry level no code ham license and carry a copy of the law with you like I do and listen to these drug dealing-check point running idiots.

Using a scanner is a good idea really, why not just listen to the scanners live online… no reason why those of you who can not be in pittsburgh can not just listen online here you go…

Click on Pennsylvania, the county…etc. Have fun with this, not a bad way. When more and more departments go all digital..etc. more will become available. Now I want to run something by you guys. This is just a hypothetical okay so keep this in mind. You do know that when the g20 and bilderberg groups meet they usually stall a satellite receiving dish, then quickly run a cable for some kind of feed they are receiving.
If someone in the know, and other computer enthusiasts like me brainstormed there is absolutely know reason why we can not receiving these signals (obviously someone would have to be there physically within a few miles) permitting we figure out the time when information would be getting sent through and store it. Later (if encrypted or otherwise protected) crack it and really see what is going on. No need to be inside period. If you don’t believe me go through some of the footage of inside 2008 for instance at the Marriott hotel when they were first arriving. I seen similar of previous meetings. There’s always a way. Just remember it’s just a hypothetical.

Here in the uk ordinary scanners don’t work with any of the Emergency services.As they now use a system called Tetra primarily supplied under the Brand name BT Airwave The intel services spent months in the Wales in the U.K trying to find ways of breaking the encryption it uses multiple frequencies to operate and caused illness in the early days due to the VLF Clock frequency being close to the brainwave frequencies (yeah anothr illuminati control device)suffice it to say the intel services believe this system is secure.but there are very clever more illumined people out there.who are watching the watchers and then we have our whistleblowers who have done a lot to stop this invasion of civil liberties and the criminal secrecy and wreckless actions of Empire style governments who never seem to catch any terrorists but kill plenty of service people and civilians.
