Vote demonstrates willingness of Congress to repudiate founding principles of the United States
February 12, 2014
On Tuesday evening a mere two members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted against meddling in the internal affairs of Ukraine. Reps. Walter Jones and Thomas Massie, both Republicans, heeded the advice of George Washington, who advised against foreign interventionism, and Thomas Jefferson, who urged “peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.”
“We call upon the Ukrainian government to exercise restraint and respect the democratic wishes of the people, and we call upon all sides to avoid violence,” the resolution reads.
“While we are encouraged by the partial repeal of recently enacted anti-democratic measures, we continue to urge the government of Ukraine to uphold all democratic rights of Ukrainian citizens,” it continues.
The resolution also took Russia to task:
“We are also concerned about reports that Russia is behind recent intercepts and disclosures of American and European diplomatic communications, a clear violation of international norms of diplomacy aimed at dividing the United States and Europe.”
The tapped phone call between Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt revealed a direct role played by the State Department in the protests in Kiev’s Maidan square. It also revealed the State Department’s impatience with the go-slow approach of undermining the Ukrainian government favored by the European Union. “Fuck the EU,” said Nuland, the wife of Robert Kagan, a top level neocon warmonger who is so highly valued by the elite he routinely advises establishment political figures, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who selected Kagan to serve on her Foreign Affairs Policy Board when she was Secretary of State.
Nuland and Pyatt discussed installing Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a member of the jailed criminal Yulia Tymoshenko’s Fatherland Party, and working closely with Oleh Tyahnybok of the fascist Svoboda Party. Svoboda operatives have attacked police and trashed government buildings.
Jay Carney aptly demonstrated the hypocrisy of the United States after the embarrassing phone call was posted on Youtube. “I would say that since the video was first noted and tweeted out by the Russian government, I think it says something about Russia’s role.”
He didn’t, of course, say anything about the active and ongoing role of the U.S. in undermining the 2010 Ukrainian election that brought Viktor Yanukovych to power. Carney also didn’t bother to mention Russia’s tap is largely insignificant when compared to the NSA’s widespread surveillance, including political figures such as German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Russia, along with China and Iran, sits at the top of the NSA surveillance priority list, according to a document leaked by Edward Snowden.
Russia is a thorn in the side of the globalist plan to sever the political and trade relationship between Russia and Ukraine and introduce the sort of austerity measures currently pushing Europe into the social and economic decline favored by the elite.
The House vote demonstrates the willingness of Congress to violate and repudiate the founding principles of the United States. The ideas of Thomas Paine are nowhere to be found. His Common Sense instilled noninterventionist ideas into American politics. The Monroe Doctrine held that the United States would not interfere with European colonies nor meddle in the internal affairs of European countries.
After 1890, however, all of this changed. The United States was actively intervening in the sovereign affairs of countries around the world, including Argentina, Chile, Haiti, China, Nicaragua, Korea, Panama, the Philippines, Honduras, Cuba, Mexico, Turkey, Guatemala, and many others.
