Our Land of Israel Offers spy Jonathan Pollard top spot on Knesset list

The extreme right-wing Our Land of Israel party has offered the top spot on its Knesset list to convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, who is currently serving a life sentence in a United States Federal Prison for espionage.

The legality of the offer is unclear and Pollard’s family have refused to endorse it, saying his name should not be used to support any particular political party, as his actions were meant to help all of Israel.
Pollard served as an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy in the 1980s, where he used his position to funnel classified information to Israel in exchange for cash and jewelry. He was found guilty of espionage in 1987 and sentenced to life in prison.
The Our Land of Israel party, which is headed by far-right activists Baruch Marzel and Rabbi Dov Volpo, has called on all parties in the Knesset to follow their lead and add Pollard to their lists.

I’m so sick of this. I started off as pro-Israel as you can get but action by people like Pollard and others has turned me off. As has the fact that, after a year in which basically the entire financial structure of the U.S. has been proven to be corrupt, people are losing their homes, entire industries are going out of business and we’re about to be hit by one of the worst depressions the world has ever seen, society is NOW trying to force me to pretend that Bernie Madoff ripping off people who are worth a couple of hundred million dollars out of roughly 1% of their wealth is the worst thing ever.
Israel is bordering on losing one of its biggest supporters by actions like these. For the love of God, back off. The man, Pollard, was convicted of spying ON the United States. I’m sorry but isn’t that treason? And now you want to offer him a spot on the Knesset ticket? Give me a break.
This is why Israel is so poorly ran now. Golda Meir would have written this guy off so quick it would make your head spin. Here’s the deal: If one of your spies, in our intelligence industry is dumb enough to actually get CAUGHT spying on us, you have to write him off. Sorry. That’s the price you pay for having us back up pretty much everything else you do over there.
Unless of course you won’t be NEEDING the U.S.’s assitance anymore? In which case we’d be more than glad to quit using it. Otherwise when we catch people in our domestic agencies spying on US and committing treason, you have to write them off. That’s kind of the way it works if you want to be allies.

Just to be clear: Israel is a police state, and this specific newspaper Haaretz is a government mouthpiece. As for Pollard, he did spy, but that information proved crucial to saving thousands of lives if not more. The people of Israel know this is a debt they can never repay; the State, well it would just like to see him locked up forever because if ever allowed to speak the damage he could wrought on the elites that control the State would be enormous.

How can America allow government officials to have two citizenships ???
