Seeking to curb violence after a spate of deadly summer shootings, Paterson officials are considering an unusual ordinance that would prevent people of all ages from gathering outside in public late at night.
The measure could be the nation’s first citywide, non-emergency curfew to include adults, several experts said.
“We’re trying to think outside the box,” said Mayor Jose Torres. “This was triggered predominantly by fear among city residents over the shootings that have been occurring this summer.”

If the citizenry of Patterson, New Jersey accept a curfew, then they certainly deserve to loose their freedom, plain and simple. I try to throw my voice out there among the many, however, very few will acknowledge my words or heed any type of warning. I live very near the city of paterson and I can tell you that the place is a war zone. my friend is a cop in this city and has been shot at several times, run over by a motor vehicle, had a brick thrown through his patrol car’s window, had his nose and jaw broken.
These people in this city are animals. White kids from the rich subs that surround the city going in at all hours buying drugs. It may be an issue of freedom but animals like the ones of paterson don’t deserve it.

You wonder why people have gone mad ? well maybe the attitudes the cops have ,,,thinking that they are above the law, and can use tasers on whoever they want…….and maybe because the economy is so screwed up and unemployment is sky-high…… THAT may be a couple reasons for being rebelious.
I’m sure it is no worst then Los Angeles , New York City, Chicago, Detroit ,Miami and other big cities…..

The govt is the reason Patterson is overrun with drugs in the first place. If they wanted to, they could stop it simply by making examples of the drug lords. The solution to me would be forming a community militia, but hey, what would I know? Barring that, being inside after dark would be my choice – or moving away. Most “petty” crimes or violent crimes are caused by poor people. Most poor people also have limited education. Every time we have a problem in society we try to make laws and regulate it when the real problem stays. We need to attack the real problem of violent crimes. The article, if one read the whole thing, did say that overall crime was at low. Citizens were just worried about their safety. Never sacrifice liberty for security. The average citizen there had nothing to do with the dispute that led to the shootings.

There are many poor people who don’t commit crimes. People commit violent (and nonviolent) crimes because they are sinners – that is the REAL problem. The first toke, drink, needle is a CHOICE! An addict is experiencing the consequences of that choice. I am totally sick of people calling addictions a disease.
This whole stinking country needs revival, people turning to Jesus by the millions, including the hell-bound government. You can’t legislate morality, it has to come from the heart, from inside. When a person is truly born again, they no longer do the things that put this country in the rotten shape it’s in. Namesake Christians who commit atrocities in God’s name, they will answer to God for that. Each person is responsible for their own life, and it’s time to stop blaming other people for our own problems.

Speaking of the wild west, when hiding in your house during curfew, be sure to lay down upstairs or behind steel doors because in Tacoma Washington lots of bullets randomly kill people in their homes while they dit at their dinner tables or watch tv on their couches, bullets travel thru glass and wood pretty easily. My steel door was covered in bullet marks but I still stand today. Hooray for the USA!

This is absof---ingloutely too rich! It would be hillarious if it was fiction, but being true puts it into the “Greek Tragedy” class. The murders are down nearly 50% from last year, but still too high. An entire city being threatened with mass punishment because the local government is worried about being Politically Correct. They can’t call the gangs, gangs. So they sure can’t use any anti-gang style laws to combat the situation. They can’t use the Loitering laws or other public peace laws on their books, not PC to “Target” any group of people…like maruding gangs. There are bogus “construction” lines set up all up and down the East Coast, especially in NY/NJ.
These have been here for about 4 yrs.
These are used more and more to cut off traffic on major highways down to 2 or 1 lane from 3 or 4.
The police presence is astounding at the toll plazas going out of NY. They stop at least 4 people a day at the EZ PASS lanes and get to illegally search them and take their id down. Having gone over the Verazzano Bridge each day and witnessed this, it cannot be coincidence that these people in such numbers decide merely to blow through EZ pass without $$. It’s pretty obvious the police take every 100 or so people and stop them and ask for id and check out their vehicles. This *used* to be illegal.
How easy will it be then to slow traffic down to a halt and direct all the traffic into 2 lanes with all these construction cones and barriers up to slow traffic down with all those Arrow trucks that they do at least 2 times a day here in Jersey and NY already?
How easy will it be for them to just direct the lines of traffic to a stand-still in order to do “state border checks”.
“Your pappppez please! Your Vaccine ID please! Oh, don’t got em, please bring your car to the side, sir/madam, and step out of it!”
Truth is, with all these bogus construction sites for miles and miles and police sub-stations already set up, it won’t be that hard to just bring the traffic to a halt and demand papers when the time comes and it’s coming!

This is insane. I would ask why they just don’t go to a “shall issue” concealed carry program which would curtail the crime, but I already know the answer. Why waste a perfectly good opportunity to crack down on people and gain control over their lives. Now the cops will have legal backing when they show up, break up a birthday party and taser the guests and shoot the guest of honor, at least once for every year they WERE alive (until the swine showed up). If people stand down for this type of local tyranny- they deserve exactly what they get.

The comments here show why this country is moving towards Fascism and nothing, especially not the “Patriot Movement”, will stop it.
Some of you will rightfully stand up and say “Down with Tyranny!” or “Love live Liberty!” when confronted with Obamacare or the Bailout (for Bankers).
But when a city of mostly poor minorities is slapped with one of the most unconstitutional, tyrannical, freedom-restricting laws ever … some of you don’t care or actually try and justify locking up the “animals”.
First off, I’ve been to Paterson, NJ. Yes, its crazy there with the crime levels. However, who is perpetrating the crimes? Gangbangers and drug organizations, overwhelmingly. NOT the average citizen. Yet that is precisely who will be targeted and restricted by this measure. You really think gangbangers who sell drugs, murder, and break any other number of laws are going to obey a curfew? Give me a break! The solution is to rebuild the economy, educate these ignorant youth, kick the corrupt political bastards who profit off of this mayhem out of office and yes, provide the good people with measures of protecting themselves.
Secondly, you’re not winning over new supporters when you write off an entire city as “animals.” Having to suffer in a poverty-ridden city full of crime because of how messed up and manipulated our economy and government are makes you an “animal”? Those are the people we MOST need on our side, fools. Some of you just reveal how narrow your worldview is and I question whether some of you have stepped out of the suburbs.
If you allow liberty to falter ANYWHERE then you set the stage for total take-over. In Nazi Germany, they targeted Marxists first because they knew no one would defend them. Then they targeted unpopular religious groups for the same reason. Its simple divide and conquer. Once the ball got rolling, there was no stopping it.
In this country, they will first target minorities, especially illegal immigrants, especially Arabs and Latinos, then they will target dissident political groups on the far left and right and everywhere in between, then they will target religious groups that are deemed to be socially unpopular like Mormons and Evangelicals. Once that is complete, society is there’s and this time its for real because the technology that exists DOES allow for them to create and keep a new thousand-year Reich.
Your efforts are doomed to fail because you’re all way too fragmented and caught up blaming the scapegoats (poor Blacks, illegals, etc) to see the divide-and-conquer game being played on you fools before we see total societal takeover.

Page 30 Sec 123 of HC bill THERE WILL BE A GOVT COMMITTEE that decides what treatments/benefits you get.
Page 29 lines 4-16 in the HC bill: YOUR HEALTH CARE IS RATIONED!!!
Page 42 of HC Bill: The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your HC Benefits for you. You have no choice!
Page 50 Section 152 in HC bill: HC will be provided to ALL non US citizens, illegal or otherwise
Page 58 HC Bill: Govt will have real-time access to individuals finances & a National ID Health card will be issued!
Page 59 HC Bill lines 21-24: Govt will have direct access to your banks accounts for elective funds transfer.
Page 65 Sec 164: is a payoff subsidized plan for retirees and their families in Unions & community organizations: (ACORN).

I used to live in paterson. its by far not the best place to be. gangs and drugs. there are good people there too and they dont deserve to have their rights stripped away. Theres dangerous cities and areas all over this country, this law could set a very ugly trend for anywhere. At the rate things are going we’re gonna see more attempts at adult curfews and we have to stop it.

An insult to ‘thinking outside th box’ if there ever was 1. I know nothing of this city but have lived in some hell-holes myself but am just about intelligent enough to realise this idea will backfire. Besieging criminals at the expense of liberty for all will solve nothing, long term. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY will simply increase, rebels WILL & SHOULD REBEL! Tackle the social causes.
Be better off supplying criminals, every1 who wants some drug, with FREE POT and legalizing the s---. I don’t even smoke it but can see how the criminalization of drugs fuels violent robbery. It’s obviously not the whole story but a major part.
