Beginning June 10, PATH passengers will take part in a security screening pilot program at multiple PATH stations. The pilot test is expected to run until July 10 and will not inconvenience passengers or interrupt their commutes.

[efoods]This pilot is part of both the Transportation Security Administration and PATH efforts to ensure the safety of travelers by testing new technologies that identify individuals who seek to do harm to mass transportation systems. There is no current threat to the mass transit system.

The passive millimeter wave passenger screening technology being tested detects threats, including explosive devices hidden under clothing. This technology does not emit radiation of any kind and poses no risk to passengers.

All passengers entering a PATH station taking part in the pilot test are subject to security screening. Passengers who do not wish to be subject to screening must exit the station.
