    October 31, 2008

Congressman Ron Paul has criticized the election system in the US, saying that the system is not very democratic for third parties.

In an exclusive interview with MSNBC, the former Libertarian Party’s nominee for president in 1988 also said that he had no other way except becoming a Republican candidate in 2008.

When asked why he did not try to be the nominee of the Constitution Party or the Libertarian Party in 2008, Paul said, “Mainly because the laws are very biased against some people doing that.”

ron paul on the rise Paul: US election not democratic

“Some won’t even allow you to do it. The system is not very democratic for third parties and alternate choices. All the rules and all the laws are written by Republicans and Democrats, and it’s very hard to get into debates,” he added.

“If I hadn’t been in the Republican primary, I wouldn’t get into the debates. It’s very hard to get on ballots, although they’ve done relatively well. It takes a lot of money. They’ll spend half their money just getting on ballots. The system is very biased against competition.”

He added that a large number of Americans do not have a good choice in the November 4 election.

Criticizing two presidential candidates, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, Paul said that both candidates supported the same foreign and monetary policy.

“Unfortunately, the two major candidates aren’t even talking about Syria, Pakistan, and the things that are important,” he concluded.

So true the game is rigged. Jesse Ventura has said the same thing about the debates; there’s no chance to participate unless you are a two party candidate. Then you have the diebold factor to deal with in the elections.

    3. Jeff White Says:

The Honorable Congressman has hit the nail on the head yet again. The corrupt two party system we currently have to deal with, often promote a democratic form of government all over the world, many times sacrificing the lives of our Heroic soldiers in order to facilitate this democratic form of government all over the world. Yet as Dr. Paul points out they refuse to allow or accept any form of democracy here at home among their own political elite.

We do not have 2 choices ths election year, we have 3.
      1. Cynthia McKinney-Green Party
      2. Ralph Nader-Independent
      3. Chuck Baldwin-Consitution Party

      To think or assume otherwise is extremely dangerous, foolish and naive. Personally, I realize none of these three patriotic candidates have a chance to win, however, I would be content and get some small amount of satisfaction if Obama won the election with an overwhelmingly, historically significant LOW % of the vote. Wouldn’t it be great to wake up on Wednesday morning to find out these were the totals;

      Obama 25%
      McKinney 24%
      Nader 23%
      Baldwin 22%
      McCain 6%

This is how you would send a message LOUD and CLEAR to the so-called “Powers that be”. At this point in time if/when the American people ever were to wake up, the republicRats and the demoncrats would soon come to the realization that the jig is up, and their days are numbered!

      C’mon now…

Ron Paul should be the next President, but the primaries were rigged.
Here in S. FL 50,000 votes were “misplaced” in our county alone.

How many of those do you think were Paul votes, with Ron Paul signs
in hundreds of yards and on light poles, Ron Paul bumper stickers on
thousands of cars and Ron Paul billboards along the highways?

Expect the rotten cockroaches to crook this election too. They may
steal it for McCain just to set off rioting to give excuse for Martial Law.

    6. Buckshot Says:

I don’t think I’ve heard anything from Ron Paul that I’ve disagreed with. If we had people like him to run the country, we might have a chance.

    7. shea Says:

all of you are right except your not thinking about what you have forgot. what Ron Paul and Jessie Ventura and everyone else are trying to tell you is that everything is rigged.the laws, voter machines, banks, credit cards, mortgages, even your own thought process is controlled by these sons of satan!

    8. Casual Observer Says:

“A little rebellion now and then is a good thing . . . .It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government… God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty . . . . and what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned, from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed, from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure. [14]”

    10. james madison Says:

As I deliberate over the many opinions I read, whose positions appear to assume such hostility at the matter at hand, I wonder of their productivity. In times passed, when assuming a similar position and engaging in dialogue with my fellow-patriots of the Spirit of ‘76, at the conclusion of our meetings, and after strategizing our plan of action, united, we acted. What became of our actions? Revolution. From that sprang forth liberty – the same liberty you once lived and breathed, the same liberty in which you the people have forfeited with your inaction. All this banter of an impending revolution led by a small number of minority voters, is implausible. The only revolution that is being planned is within the imagination of those of a majority being silenced by a fear of nothing more than a spectre.
Is the majority truly of the belief that such a small class of citizens could provoke such an undertaking? But consider this, that the more the silenced majority promotes the idea, the larger the possibility becomes. Reflect just for a moment if you the people, would become we the people, and put forth this energy into a plan for yourselves, and then actually act upon it. Instead, as is typical of your method, you have relinquished your desire and passed it off onto another in hopes another minority group will carry your torch. Liberty is not bought and sold in this manner, nor will it be traded simply for blind faith, as you now witness. If you have the will, if you possess the means, and if you cherish your independence that I and my founding brothers gave lives and fortunes for, you will defend it.

    12. j Says:

Damn it james madison!!! That is, HANDS DOWN, the wisest, most appropriate post for this website, for these times, that I have ever read.

We argue among one another about who has more info, who’s perpetrating these things (the jews vs whoever), who’s motives are in the right place yet we ALL know 911 was perpetrated by the US government. There is proof aplenty. This is all the US people need to know. The rest should be up to the people.

The US government came up with the catch phrase “let’s roll”? I couldn’t agree more.

    13. j Says:

I was talking about post #10 by the way.

    14. Gary Says:

This is ONE time I disagree with Dr. Paul. The laws are not written against third parties. My goodness there are like 5 or 6 choices and parties on each state ballot.

The Constitution is written against third parties.

A democracy requires that the people be allowed to vote. We have a democracy. However, we also have, as spelled out by our wonderful founding fathers, a winner-take-all system. Meaning, if you win the election by one vote, you win. That’s it. The loser goes home.

In a Parliamentary style democracy the people vote for a party and then the party selects its representatives. Accordingly, a small party that gets 10% of the vote can have ten percent of the representatives. (Am I right about that, Brits?) So, your minority reps most certainly will have to, or at least can, coalition with other parties to be heard…but at least you get a voice no matter what.

Here, if you get 10%, you get nothing. In fact, you get laughed at. No representation, whatsoever.

Sorry, but the framers wanted like that. What does that insure? It insures that only moderates get elected, because everybody has to vie for the middle (you know, the sheeple). It also insures a two-party system. For example if you have two “conservatives” splitting the vote between one “liberal”, guess who wins. This over time forces the two conservative parties to compromise and join forces..,the operative word being “compromise.”

This, by it’s very nature, causes a two-party system and ultimately suppresses radical speech in politics. Obviously, that’s what the framer’s wanted. They knew exactly what they we’re doing.

But here’s the questions: Who are the two parties? Sure we now have two parties that are the same, but that doesnt mean it has to be that way. Look at the Republicans. They’re lost. They’re out dated and this election could see them go the way of the Whigs. Let’s hope. Then at least the way would be cleared for a new 2nd Party which would be comprised of, you got it, a coalition of old republicans, truthers, patriots, free-marketers, freedom lovers, fiscal conservatives, gun owners and the like. That would easily comprise 60% of the population and it could very well happen.

The issue again is: Can these groups compromise and get along in one party? Of course, but it takes tolerance, patience and understanding. Look at the weak-ass Republicans. Every four years they have a convention and they make a platform which states that we need to get rid of the Federal Reserve and the IRS…but they dont do ANYTHING to follow through on that promise (except those like Dr. Paul). That party was taken over by the elite..and now they’re in shambles.

I suggest all Republicans forsake their party–including Dr. Paul. Time for a new party. Not the remake of an old one: A new party.

      I suggest: The American Party.

Footnote: 911 truth is the key to the utter destruction of the Republican Party (and maybe the Democrats as well). We’re that close. Cool it, please, with the negativity and keep up the fight. Revelation soon come.

      TO “J” -
To you, sir, I commend your perception and your sense of unification. I should propose, as well, the importance of the people’s disunity, and its dire consequences should we fail to grasp the severity of
the threshold in which we stand at. I Recall at the signing of this nation’s Declaration of Independence, as the good Dr. Franklin rose from attaching his name to one of history’s most cherished documents, he announced to us all, “we must indeed all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. On that historic day, we all came to the realization that our unity was paramount, second only to fulfilling the goal that we had just adopted _ liberty and the sovereignty that attaches to it. You, sir, and your fellow Americans who find yourselves in tyranny’s path, have all but forfeited the blessings that was handed down to you. You now find your nation, once again, a need to pursue, to regain, those blessings and that sovereignty.
A plan and an accompanying strategy is mandatory, with the accomplished leaders ( and I don’t mean a chief executive) with the vision to reach the goal. We the people know who is behind your demise, and why. Let’s not waste further time on that dialogue. Unity and action is now mandatory are you to salvage the prize you were blessed with.
Thank you sir, for your kind compliment.

My takeaway: This serves NO useful purpose to in any way help with the problems that we as a people currently face. It looks more like a hate site than anything else..especially some of the comments.

The direction we are headed is definitly the wrong direction. I agree that Mr. Jones is a TRUE patriot.
Now can someone besides me, paint a senario that would benifit all, bring a rest to the whores who are getting rich off of spilled blood. How do we as a nation, with so many different points of view, beliefs, fact and fiction, realize what our next move is? I can paint the picture of the future of man kind, but Im not here today. What we need is to figure out, how we get the tiny minded little people to forget the color of skin, how much your car is worth, and the vanity fairs, and that jesus has left the building. The salvation you seek is your, the destruction explained in the history book called the bible tells you. But you continue SEEKING the signs. well here are the signs, diseases beyond your comprehension, millions dead from aids in 25 years, cancer 220 different brands, flavors, types what ever, heart attacks are the number one killer in men and women, the bible says that the hearts will stop. Tens of thousands are killed raped, starved, looted, beat, ridiculed, and there nothing that can be done, well, here are some more signs of the times, your greed and corruption has cause all to suffer, your banking system, you interest, which is condmned in YOUR BIBLE, has brought you all to your knee. Soon you will bow to the KING OF KINGS, and RULER OF RULERS, your imaginations, of right and wrong will be your egg on your face, truth will not spare the ignorant, selfish, or proud, they all like stubble will blow like dust in the air.

    33. Mike Says:

and then all the earth will look upon the WOMAN and they all will gasp, and stare in astonishment. They will say one to another is it, could it be, how could it be this woman? How could she deceive the WHOLE earth?

      Paraphrase for the unlearned.

      What does this mean AMERICA?
I dare anyone to say the truth.

the fact of the matter is, is that RPaul flat out wimped out!! Face it, face it! He was afraid of offending John McCain and having McCain yell at him. He was afraid of having his dear colleagues in congress point the finger at Paul and say, ‘your responsible for McCainiac losing.’ it really is quite pathetic that Paul would not stand up to the neo-con bastards. but Paul did have the gall to walk with $5million of campaign contributions and act like the campaign for liberty was some earth-shaking strategic manuever to take over congress. puh-leeeeeeeeeeeeze! Paul wimped out and we are left dangling in the breeze. Paul has always never failed to blow opportunity when it has arisen in front of him. to run 3rd party in a paul/barr libertarian or independent ticket, after the repugnican primary, was a no-brainer. the media, in obama’s pocket, would have made paul/barr media darlings. with all the energy, fund-raising potential and the liberty message, paul/barr would have become the conservative ‘ticket’. the message of liberty could have gone out to the masses like never before in modern history and the movement would have grown immensely, and that would have been victory enough, in the short term. and now, now, you can hear the silence. the revolution, essentially scattered to the four winds. what might have been, Mr. Paul, what might have been. our founding fathers are not proud tonite.

How did Ron Paul wuss out? He was on CNN and FOX saying how he will not be endorsing John Mccain because his views were out of touch. He is a representative if you remember…he has to protect his reputation of being a traditional republican or he’ll lose his seat in the house.

    40. Faith McGary Says:

I tried to write in Ron Paul in my computer election ballot, it would not confirm, or show that I had typed in his name. When I asked the Judges at the polling place what to do before I press the cast your vote red button, they said it just did not matter because Ron Paul was not going to win the election. They gave me a phone number to call after the election to see if my vote was actually cast. These Judges were refusing to allow me to cast a 3rd Party Vote and confirm that it was counted. I should be allowed to enter any name, and know that it was counted.

    41. Write in Ron Paul Says:

I just voted and I wrote in Ron Paul on my ballot. At least when the shit hits the fan in the upcoming weeks/months/years I can have a clean conscience knowing that I made the right choice. If there is a choice… that is.

    42. cathy Says:

i voted this morning and i feel like i made a big mistake. i went to vote for independent and the only name there was john mccain, no one else. i felt like i had no choice and i was being forced to vote for one of them. on top of this horrible experience, i had to show my id, but my name was clearly on the list because i saw my signature that they already have in the book…how can i report this?

    43. Terrance Bagswell Says:

It’s not a good feeling exactly having to write him in when he’s CLEARLY the most qualified candidate, but I agree, at least when the Red Puppet or the Blue Puppet hand us over to the International Banking Cartel and sell out our sovereignty for the Globalization Agenda I can have a clear conscience that I had eyes to see and the strength of will to do the right thing when we still had a chance to do it without bloodshed and chaos! And something to think about is that you don’t need to win an election to win a REVOLUTION!!! You need people willing to stand up and do the right thing, and Ron Paul may not win but he’s managed to get a lot of complacent and apathetic people MOVING and PASSIONATE!!! That is worth something and if we KEEP moving and stay passionate we CAN REACH CRITICAL MASS!! And once we reach critical mass WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE!!! THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THERE ARE OF THEM, never EVER lose sight of that!

k….#34..mike is it? Why are you bible thumping? Bad things have been happening since the beginning of time and people claim “see..the bible said in the end times people will die, and famine will come, and people will starve, and commit crimes against humanity.” But when HASN”T this happened? People have been claiming the end of the world is comming since the dawn of time. People having sex before marriage is that last thing we should be worried about. Even when I was a christian I thought the no sex rule was silly. If god didn’t want us to have sex, why would we have urges? Inteligently Designed my ass. What kind of jerk would place a tree in the garden of edan and tell humans “don’t touch this”..( like lab rats)… why wouldn’t he just not put the tree there. wouldn’t that have been easier. Of course the tree is a metaphore for knowledge. God did not want us to have knowledge, (in other words, he loved us Soooooo much, but wanted us to stay stupid, but yet he made it very attractive to us, AND created the curiosity in us ….so the tree was asking for it. If he really didn’t want us to eat of it, he would have made it ugly. I am not god bashing…….well maybe I am. I just feel compelled to give my own opinion and voice my own questions when people get all churchy on this blog.

    46. necronomicona Says:

on the note of what this blog is REALLY about, this system is bias. It is NOT a 2 party system, but that system is basicly forced on us. Independents do not get air time….seemingly becuase they are the smartest and for the most part are real americans and care about us. Ron Paul probably dropped out for a number of reasons. It costs a lot of money to run, wich it shouldn’t. You should not have to have money to run for office. How much money someone makes should not devine thier elegebility for running the country. He also probably just knew he’s not getting anywhere this year. He keeps trying becuase he, and other independents, are hopeing that americans will wake up one day, and stop depending Fox news, and CNN to give honest coverage. The main stream media does whatever thier sponsors tell them. They are controlled, and therefore cannot be trusted. I’m voting for Ralph Nader because he’s the next best choice to Ron Paul. They both have balls. If Ron stayed on the ticket I would have voted for him, but writing him in i’m throwing my vote away. Most likey the same thing for voting Nader, but he’s still on the ticket, so at least some percentage would be there……providing the elctors count my vote as they are saying. Our voting system cannot be trusted either. Falty machines, and electors that can use my vote and ultimatly give it to anyone they want makes for a bullshit of system we have here.

    47. Faith McGary Says:

#42 I was also forced to show an ID it said it next to my name on the list, and so did my husband. I think we are now on the GOV target list of some type. BTW they can tell who you vote for by the order you come in, the pace of the people before you, and who finished when. SO they know I was trying to vote for Ron Paul. But, now at least I know I am on a watch list, they played their hand in asking for my id, and I could see they had me flagged.

Google “report election irregularities” or some such.
The Paraguay story hasn’t been confirmed that I know of.

for change you won’t believe, just the change you need.

Bush is very arrestable, and that is what is needed to break the cycle of
grownups building this country up and rich infants looting it every decade or so,
and will go a long way to keeping President Obama alive long enough for me to
      oust him by Amendment.

    50. Raise hell Says:

I’ve been watching the stats. Did anyone see how the 3rd parties did? I didn’t see anything stats for them at all. Please post a good link to find this. It seems to me that the media will be bias to the two party system to the end. I voted for Baldwin and I wanted to see how he did, since he was endorsed by RP.

    51. freedom4all Says:

WEATHER RON PAUL OR NOT THE THIRD PARTIES WERE NEVER MENTIONED IN THE STATS! WTF?! IS THAT A PROBLEM OR NOT? YES IT IS BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT IS DOING ITS BEST FOR A ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT IIS HOW ITS PLAYING OUT!! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I VOTED FOR BOB BAR BECAUSE HE IS A LIBERITARIAN AND IF THAT WASENT CHANGE ENOUGH THEN WE ARE TOTALY LOST IN OUR OWN LITTLE WORLDS AND NEED TO COME BACK TO REALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    52. Patriot Says:

Ron (again) is right on the money – another good reason to GET RID of the electoral college – it is no longer needed.

    54. noel Says:

    55. globalrapture.com Says:

      stop the new world order……

    56. Duane Peoples Says:

It’s unfortunate that the Electoral College is still in existence and we, the people, do NOT have any real say in who we want to vote for. As Ron Paul has expressed, it is extremely difficult for anyone who is not a major party candidate to get on the ballot, let alone be invited to any of the debates.
The two-party system is a shambles and the Electoral College should be abandoned because it does not work. I didn’t like either of the two candidates for the 2008 election because they are both in the pockets of the wealthy bankers and corporate elite. I was even invited to join the ‘Illuminati’ who described themselves as ‘The Secret Society’. I turned them down because I am not a stooge to be used. Unfortunately, there are too many unenlightened individuals in this country who take too much political b***sh** at face value and don’t question anything. We can’t afford to do that any longer.

    57. Adrian Peirson Says:

All these third parties simply split the patriotic vote, the US people need to work togther under one banner if you are to stop the NWO.
Remember some of these third parties are there to dilute the vote of people against the NWO.
Those parties that are genuine need to come together to maximise your votecount.
Saving the country is more important than personal Ego’s.

stop splitting the vote base, UNITE.

    58. X Says:

Isn’t Ron Paul a big supporter of the constitution? He should know the constitution isn’t very democratic, with the electoral college. A person can win the popular vote and still lose the election. Face it, the fix was in from the beginning.

    59. What Democracy Says:

We weren’t given a choice, two faces, same policies… we couldn’t event write any one in here in Austin, when did that get taken away and why has no one noticed? When I brought it up to people- they said I was brainwashed… oh the irony.

    60. Klaatu Says:
