Phoenix Cops Raid Blogger Critical of Police

In what should send a frightening chill down the spine of every blogger, writer, journalist and First Amendment advocate in the United States, Phoenix police raided the home of a blogger who has been highly critical of the department.
Jeff Pataky, who runs Bad Phoenix Cops, said the officers confiscated three computers, routers, modems, hard drives, memory cards and everything necessary to continue blogging.
The 41-year-old software engineer said they also confiscated numerous personal files and documents relating to a pending lawsuit he has against the department alleging harassment – which he says makes it obvious the raid was an act of retaliation.
Maricopa County Judge Gary Donahoe signed the search warrant that allowed at least ten cops to raid his home in North Phoenix on March 12 while handcuffing his female roommate for three hours as they tore the place apart.
Pataky, who was out of town on a business trip during the raid, also believes police were retaliating against him for the content of his blog, much of it which comes from inside sources within the department.
“They broke into my safe and took the backups of my backups,” he said in a phone interview with Photography is Not a Crime on Wednesday.
“I can’t even file my taxes because all my business plans are gone. They took everything.”
The search warrant lists “petty theft” and “computer tampering with the intent to harass” as probable causes. He has yet to see an actual affidavit that lists in detail the probable cause and is skeptical that one even exists.
“They say everything has been sealed,” he said.

Many of the reports she filed accused him of doing things when he was out of town, he said.
So he began filing complaints with everybody from Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon down to Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris to no avail. He was eventually indicted for harassing his ex-wife.
A month before the trial, he and a few friends launched the website as a rant against the police department. When he went to trial in May 2008, his charges were immediately dismissed because of lack of evidence, he said.
“We were going to shut down the website after that but then all of a sudden all these good cops started hitting the site and sending us tips,” he said.
He said they would also deliver all kinds of internal documents from within the department exposing everything from a cop with multiple DUIs to another cop whose son was a child molester and was trying to get on the force (and was eventually arrested).
“We have about 50 to 100 retired and active cops who provide us information,” he said.
Police apparently believe one of the tipsters is an officer named David Barnes, who fell out of favor with the department in 2007 when he was a detective and went public with claims of mismanaged evidence at the city crime lab.
Police also raided Barnes’ home and according to Pataky’s inside sources, plan to raid the homes of more cops.
Police have been extremely vague about the nature of the raids, according to the arizona republic.
Police officials said Wednesday that a Phoenix detective prompted the investigation after complaining about harassment, though they declined further comment…
Phoenix Assistant Chief Andy Anderson said the harassment case is unique because of the connection to an unaccredited grassroots Web site. He said the blog is one part of the case, though he did not provide specifics of the ongoing investigation.
“This isn’t about the blog,” Anderson said. “That’s just where the investigation led.”
The allegation of “petty theft” against Pataky stem from photos he posted on his blog of police name plates that appear to have been taken from within the department. He said he actually made the plates himself.
The allegation of “computer tampering with the intent to harass” obviously has to do with his no holds barred criticism of the department.
Pataky, who has since purchased a new laptop, is taking the raid in stride and has added it to the allegations in his pending lawsuit.
And he has not let it stop him from blogging.
“They thought they were going to scare us into a corner but they just made us stronger.”

Do you even live in Phoenix? Sheriff Joe literally rounds up illegals in a bus to jail/deport them. So much so, that some BS representitive on some committee is accusing Sheriff Joe and Maricopa county of abusing their powers (which means they are doing too good of a job getting rid of illegals). I know what you are saying in the sense that Phoenix is a “safe city,” which it is… but cops here are actually quite racist and would love to get rid of a lot of the illegals around here.
So unless you actually know what you are talking about, you might want to refine what comes out of your head.

It would be nice if the gentleman actually knew how to spell the silly demon’s name correctly too: Baphomet. I guess I was a traitor because I wanted to serve my country? Well, I never followed an unlawful order, although I guess you could argue the merit and legality of the first Gulf War. I would never shoot at a woman or child unless they were about to shoot at me or one of my comrades first. I think most level headed military personnel and cops are the same way. Although, I will say, the police are probably getting a little jumpy due to everythign that is going on int he country, as they aren’t stupid and they know that a lot of us are pissed…but so are they, even if they aren’t allowed to say it.

‘Can it run Crysis?’ is a very popular question when it comes to questioning the raw computing power of a PC. This is due to the fact that Crysis, a very popular video game, has a very high demand for computing power, especially at the higher quality settings.
Steve Jobs is the co-founder CEO and chairman of Apple Inc. This man will sell you one pretty glossy computer at a very high price. Thing is, you can get more out of a PC for the same amount spent on an Apple computer. The iPhone is the suckiest cellphone on the planet. Awful network, very limited unless is jailbroken, which CrApple does not apreciate very much, and quite expensive.

You don’t even need to crack the password to see what someone has on the hard disk. If it’s not encrypted, it’s as simple as attaching the disk as a secondary drive in your computer. Then, once recognized, perform a change of ownership on the files on that drive to your userid. After that, voila, you have access to all of the files on that disk.
This is why you need to use TrueCrypt or something like it.

Linux is good. I used linux redhat temporarily for a project like couple of years ago.
If u want a simple GUI and kernel then Linux. Macs I dont care for but are easy to deal with. Windows yeah keep bring out ur monopoly shit. I dont buy em any way I use and abuse the bastards 2000,XP, 98,95, windows 7, vista. But in the near future, I will probably go to linux. Now i have seen user give advice on AVS- Antivirus. It depends on the freaking user so educate urself by going to there websites or asking ur neighbourhood supernerd(they come handy) or shit ur bestfriend (Google). We off topic; so thats that.

This is what I think a lot of people on here keep forgetting.
Yes, there are corrupt and bad cops. But, there are good ones as well. Ones who respect the dignity and rights of those they serve, while upholding the law with honor.
People keep making it “us” vs. “them”. But in reality, it’s about PEOPLE period. That there are a few bad eggs in there doesn’t negate that there are an honorable few that are trying to make it a better police force by outing that information.

He must be given access to the charges. If they’re sealed, he and his
attorney can’t put together a proper defense. This will likely be thrown out
of court as harrassment and he will then be able to sue. Provided he hasn’t
harrassed his ex-wife or committed crimes against her, he will end up with
an out of court settlement.
This looks like an attempt to intimidate him and shut him up.
The people of Phoenix should demand the Sherriff resign if he/she is going
to violate the Law they took an oath to defend.

PHOENIX (AP) — A Maricopa County judge has removed County Attorney Andrew Thomas from an ongoing grand jury investigation into a $340 million downtown Phoenix courts tower.
According to court documents, presiding Criminal Court Judge Gary Donahoe removed Thomas because the project under investigation by the grand jury is one that the County Attorney’s Office has provided legal advice on.
Thomas has appealed the decision to the Arizona Court of Appeals. Donahoe also denied requests from Thomas’ office to have an out-of-county judge rule on the matter and to remove from the case a private attorney retained by the county.

naw..just use TrueCrypt and encrypt the HD using recursive (more than 1 algorithm) encryption and a greater than 20 character password with numbers, letters and symbols. They would have a hell of a time trying to decrypt it, AND the supreme court has ruled that you’re not required to give them the key (5th Amendment).
Also always keep a current backup on an online storage area (plenty out there, google them). Back up your disk, making sure the backup is encrypted, and upload the image file of the disk to the storage location. Now, even if your equipment is siezed you can get another comp and start where you left off. And, if they get their hands on the online volume, it’s STILL encrypted.

This is wild stuff to me.
I ran a blog as a direct result of a daylight home invasion of my house by crooked cops from Hallam,Pennsylvania in 2004.
They came to arrest me on the word of a tresspasser who had a history of harassing me and vandalizing my property.
I got tons of stuff on them and they tried intimidating me but I fought back even harder with each thing they tried.
These blogs can be truly effective.
Especially when you can post documents and photos.
Hallam Pa. cops are crooked and people found-out and booted them from Wrightsville where they had contracted to cover but never showed when residents called them in emergencies.

Well, if there really are any good ones left – I’ll answer my own question by saying there are, since I know family and friends that are – then they had better step up and come out into the light and speak up, before we treat them ALL the same! They are required to police (npi) there own, and if they don’t, then they will not like what happens when the people do, as evidenced by the recent shooting in CA and PA.

I would say the majority of cops are crooked. I believe the majority of cops are mercenaries and would do just about anything a higher power told them to do, as long as they were getting paid to do it. A small minority are decent people who actually care about America. I would love to see more decent cops speak out about the freedoms being rescinded under the guise of national security.
On the other hand you have federal agents and these men and women are the real threat to America. Not only have they kept their mouths shut about what really happened on 9/11 but they will give their lives to defend the Federal Reserve and the foreign bankers controlling America.

All that needs be done here is to place a commercial lien against all involved with this UNCONSTITUTIONAL act. The liens will have to made out for each individual ( the Judge that signed the warrant, all Police Officers involved with the raid) as well as the City and the Police department.
An affidavit must be shown to Mr. Pataky as this is an affirmation of truth…or place said liens against all. $500,000 lien for the Judge and $50,000 for each Police Officer involved, see how there Wives like paying CASH for everything when there Credit Card’s are CANCELLED. The City..Ohhhhh…$5,000,000 lien should be equivalent to grabbing them by the short hairs. All Mr. Pataky needs is to have his affidavits stamped by a Notary, then let the games begin.

The liens should be for the amount specified in statute, to be in compliance with the law they obey. But they can be triple damages, and it adds up rapidly. File them under the UCC in that State and against each “person” that violated his rights as the common law is not replaced.

I used to post a lot on infowars. I love Alex, and agree with him 99.999% of the time. My posts never used to be censored on this forum, and i used to send Alex so many news tips and they would actually post the news tips that i sent them the next day on infowars. Now for some reason my posts get censored on these forums. They block me from posting messages that have no cussing or threats in them at all. They never post any of my news tips anymore. And these news tips include everything from NWO issues to cops killing people with tasers and so on. I noticed this starting to happen when i started making posts critical of ZIONIST JEWS like the ADL, JDL, ALL THE NEOCONS, AND THE ZIONIST JEWS WHO ARE THE NWO. Now i don’t think Alex is covering up for them. In fact i see Alex trying his best to expose them, but he is a little timid about it as if he is afraid to be called an antisemite so he censors himself and gives up his first amendment right to talk about it. Anyway, it seems Alex Jones site is becoming worse each day, and he is going to lose his support base if he keeps this up. I know its probably not him doing it directly. Its probably people running this site, but its Alex’s fault as well because he should know what’s going on with HIS site. Will this post get censored?

For some reason, Alex Jones doesn’t see the connection between illegal police activity and the fact that police ‘officers’ are merely corporate employees. Here again is that post– make up your own minds whether it is sufficiently “on topic”.
There is a legal reason policemen are referred to as “officers”, and it has nothing to do with their role as civil servants. On the contrary, they are executives in a corporation, same as any CEO on Wall Street. Their snappy slogan “To Protect and to Serve” refers not to the general populace, but to their employers. They act as armed policy enforcers of a for-profit entity, typically the city or state in question. This is why criminal charges are invariably couched as “the state versus” the accused. The state is always the aggrieved party, i.e., the victim.
This fact can be confirmed by going to the credit reporting agency of Dunn and Bradstreet, where a search reveals “Phoenix, City of, Also traded as Jack Harris.” Jack Harris is their current Chief of Police. Let this fact sink in for a moment, and the myriad police injustices of which we complain start to make some sort of twisted sense. Ditto prosecutorial misconduct, corrupt judges, and politically ambitious DA’s so common in our reeking criminal justice system. It’s nothing personal. It’s literally just business.
I suspect most individuals who join the force have little idea of this sordid paradigm, and only come to a realization AFTER it has wreaked havoc with their decency, integrity, and conscience. They are no doubt instructed ‘this is the way things are done’, regardless of any moral or ethical concerns. Maybe this is one of the contributors to the high rate of acoholism, divorce and emotional problems among those on duty?
By the way, all of the above applies equally to those employed by the Department of Defense. For example, you will find our current Secretary of Defense Robert Gates traded on D & B as a corporate asset. As the police are policy enforcers of their respective cities or states, so are the military ‘officers’ charged with defending US business interests. Whether they realize it or not.
The ramifications of this corporate mindset are far-reaching, and should give us pause whenever dealing with any ‘officer’ of any organization whatsoever. Unfortunately, this does not only pertain to domestic law enforcement and the corrupted criminal justice system, but to entire governments and nations. Pretty earth-shattering stuff.

Today, 3 cops got dead breaking into a mans home in Pittsburgh, as far a s I can see, there is alot of missing information which leads me to believe they had no business at his house, all they would cry about was his evil eagle tattoo….OH the horrors!
I wonder if he wasn’t one of the blogger here or elsewhere, because they did mentioned his myspace stuff to an extent. If he were here, they wouldn’t admit it given the circs. That would empower others, rater, they are trying to paint him as a skin head, but he had hair!

Inter mentioned earlier how Time-Warner was planning to cap their bandwidth to 40GB/month. I use Charter as a service provider; Seeing how they’ve had a working relationship in the past, I was obviously concerned. I contacted Charter to inquire about this, and see if they had similar plans to cap bandwidth.
If you’re with Charter, there’s good news: There is currently no monthly bandwidth cap, and there are no plans to institute a similar cap in the future. The rep was totally honest with me, and said they have no reason to cap the bandwidth at all. If down the road they needed to cap the bandwidth for whatever reason, they are required by frederal law to inform all the users well in advance of any such transition.
So if, like me, you live in a state where they offer both roadrunner and charter, go with charter; they won’t be capping the bandwidth anytime in the forseeable future.
Oh, on a side note, Jeff Pataky got a raw deal in my opinion. I hope he brings suit after suit against the cops on this one. I wish him luck in his efforts.
Many years ago, a now-deceased friend of mine once said: “in the future there will be another world war, but it wont be fought in a foxhole, in a tank, or from behind the barrel of a gun, it will be fought from behind a keyboard, and the battle lines will be data lines”. Keep in mind, this was back in the day, before operation SunDevil when dial up BBS systems were kings and the internet was only a faint glint on the horizon. Computer operators were drasticaly different back then, but the more I see in the news these days, he may just be proven right.
Bloggers being raided and arrested, Ghostnet and conficker in full swing, bandwidth caps and lawsuits over fair use software (like bittorrent). Once upon a time, if you were capable of making a machine do something, you had every right to do whatever you saw fit with the hardware. The morons who had no clue how to use DOS or UNIX had no say in the matter because of their ignorance. Now that OS’es have been dumbed-down, any idiot can use a computer these days, giving them an inflated opinion of their own expertise.
See, that’s just it. some people merely use a computer. but the people out there that can program, code, hex edit, etc… they do more than use a computer, they bend it to their will and set it to task.
Bulllets and bodyarmor are fine, for the purpose they serve, but if you really want to make a difference in the information age, you gotta crack open a manual once in a while so you can learn to fight your battles on every front; and some countries (like china) are WAY adead of the curve on this front! Learn how to write code in a programming language, learn to exploit hardware, even if you only learn to code HTML or javascript; any little bit helps. it’s an invaluable skill, and down the road, you may just need it! prepare for anything! don’t just limit yourselves to what the OS will allow you to do, make it work the way you want! if that means swithching to linux, go for it! Heck, learn every OS that you can as well. not everybody runs a microsoft OS!

This is an on going practice all across the country. My nephew was raided by the gestapo last year, no warrants or court orders were presented at the time and now he is facing jail time from bogus manufactured charges that they will get away with because he has no resources to protect him from these criminal thugs and they know it. I am presently trying to connect the dots with the black robe devils & DA office with the jail house they have. If I can do this which I know is true I will be able to hang these thugs and put them where they belong.
