Performing two Google searches from a desktop computer can generate about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle for a cup of tea, according to new research.
While millions of people tap into Google without considering the environment, a typical search generates about 7g of CO2 Boiling a kettle generates about 15g. “Google operates huge data centres around the world that consume a great deal of power,” said Alex Wissner-Gross, a Harvard University physicist whose research on the environmental impact of computing is due out soon. “A Google search has a definite environmental impact.”
Google is secretive about its energy consumption and carbon footprint. It also refuses to divulge the locations of its data centres. However, with more than 200m internet searches estimated globally daily, the electricity consumption and greenhouse gas emissions caused by computers and the internet is provoking concern. A recent report by Gartner, the industry analysts, said the global IT industry generated as much greenhouse gas as the world’s airlines – about 2% of global CO2 emissions. “Data centres are among the most energy-intensive facilities imaginable,” said Evan Mills, a scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California. Banks of servers storing billions of web pages require power.

I’m so sick of hereing these tax consuming govenment employees and thier stupid global warming bullshit, it’s getting to be sicking, if that’s all they have to do and can come up with then they need to lay thier stupid brainwashing sorry ass off!!! This country and the socalled education system has relly been dummed down so bad it is pathetic! What a bunch of idiots!!!
January 11th, 2009 at 11:34 am
So… get rid of the airlines. Keep the internet. Get rid of Al Gore, too, and you’ll get rid of more hot air than both combined!
January 11th, 2009 at 11:35 am
So, can I heat my house with google?
January 11th, 2009 at 11:37 am
Wow this really sucks! Too bad that my favorite thing of consumption (besides books, movies, and music which I typically rent from the library) is so destructive. The manufacture and disposal of plasma TV screens emits some sort of toxic substance into the air which is quickly accumulating into the atmosphere. Sadly there really is no way to be 100% environmentally friendly with electronics. Even the special Apple laptops which laud themselves as being “green” are a failed attempt, for when new techonology comes along those old machines will be discarded. I see a day when electronics will not be a private but public affair (maybe in a hundred years) if we ever get advanced enough to realize their destructive power.
Google “e-waste”… it’s really fucking sad.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:39 am
This is what I call “Attacking the Smallest Piece of Pie” method of scientist. If you look at a pie chart of all emitted CO2 in the world, the amount caused by man is the smallest, and the amount caused by nature is the largest. But since you cannot scare, or tax nature, scientist and politicians say it is all our fault. Here is an example of how stupid they think we are: A single volcanic eruption emits more CO2 into the atmosphere than man has emitted in the entire history of our race, and there are an average of 7 major volcanic eruptions a year. Global warming is caused by a hotter sun! Duh!
And please remember: Dick Cheney = Satan’s little Imp
January 11th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Ignorance is bad for the earth as well. Buying a published and distributed book is bad for the earth. I can hear all the trees falling. Maybe Google is using renewable energy, but this article does not say. At the end of the day, we humans will continue using products to make our lives easier. The last thing we need is for the majority of people to continue living in denial and ignorance.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Good. I’m putting in some overtime then.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:42 am
next moron bugin me about global warming is gettin kickd in the nuts.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:44 am
My name says it all. How can any one take this seriously….
January 11th, 2009 at 11:47 am
I hope the point of posting this ridiculous nonsense here is that it is ridiculous nonsense.
I mean, I was going to say, Infowars is my primary news source, but this is the stupidest thing I have seen posted here in a while…
January 11th, 2009 at 11:58 am
My fatther (a nuclear physicist) once told me that man’s involvement with global climate change is akin to a mosquito with an erection on a raft going under a drawbridge shouting “raise the bridge”. We don’t appreciate our own insignificance in the matter.
BTW, give this site a break, every article isn’t their position…they report also on what others are thinking and saying as well as the propaganda pieces like this. Those of us who’ve been following Alex’s career for over a decade realize this maybe others need to be filled in.
Although, I highly doubt Alex has time to read posts on articles I’d like to wish him a well deserved respit and God bless him and his family. Keep yer powder dry.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
The ONLY SOLUTION is to tax the user for every website visited. When we start to realize we exhale C02 when breathing, the only logical solution will be mass suicide in the interest of saving the world. If you kill yourself the government will give carbon credits to a benefactor of your choosing. WHAT A DEAL!
January 11th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Question:
How much carbon can we save is we take all these scientist, greedy politicos, and their banker scum and turn them into “dog food”
Just the hot air alone will be significant…{:o))
We can call it “Snivel & Bits”… {:o)
Doggy
January 11th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
the only solution is high amounts of thc to be directly injected in my brain while i smash obamas nuts with a mallet
January 11th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Who cares. Humans are mortal.
There are so many war crimes and crimes against humanity
1.) Lying to kids in School
2.) Israel/Gaza
3.) American Foreign Policy and Aid Intervention (Weapons and funding for allies, oil-for-food for enemies.)
4.) bullshit TV that lies and spins a wrong image of humanity and relationships
I say set fire to it all, like the thing, Fires got the temperatures up around the whole camp, but it wont last for long.
Good riddance humanity.
in the words of JFK, we could be doing so much better.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Hey number 11
Right on.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Then how come google has a search bar.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
I’ve been waiting for an article along these lines – excellent! I wonder if the Obama administration will have to pay CO2 emissions taxes for digitizing health records… that’s a lot of electricity
January 11th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
I am more concerned about toxic waste/chemical waste/radioactive waste etc. than any CO2 emissions. Nature can balance itself (even if global warming exists and was casue by us) it has the systems in place heating cooling etc… it will balance itself out. But it is much harder for the earth to overcome being poisoned slowly. Humans are like parasites on our host, or even a cancer to Earth. We are commiting suicide by poisoning ourselves and allowing others to poison us. And unlike the parasites we cannot easily find another host. Even if there was a new host planet the NWO “elite” would not allow us access.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Since carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, and is, in fact, one of the basic constituents of our atmosphere and a necessary ingredient for plants to breath and produce oxygen, I don’t understand what the environmental concern is with either doing a Google search or boiling water for a cup of tea. It’s remarkable when you consider the Professor’s students are each paying high-five-figures each year and yet the information he gives them is so factually and willfully fraudulent.
If I were Professor Wissner-Gross, I would be more concerned about Google’s impact on human rights in China, and how they are using that as practice to do the same thing here. I am referring to Google’s (and Microsoft’s and Yahoo’s) censoring of web content in China and even turning in dissidents into authorities so they can be shot. I know that the good professor is unconcerned about plans to shut down the internet and create Internet2 because Harvard will be one of the elite on I2.
Professor, you can take your fake environmentalism and stick it where the sun don’t shine.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
#20: My friend, they already censor information here. I have had at least a dozen instances where friends from other countries have sent me links to information only to find that *I* get 404 Page not found. They assure me there is information at the link in question and copy and paste me text, yet I cannot get it.
So don’t worry, human rights violations have already started here. I think it was sometime back in…ohhhh 1776, but it was expanded from blacks and native americans to encompass ALL of us goyim (cattle) in the mid 1800’s or so.
Start freeing yourself. Check out http://www.losthorizons.com to legally stop paying income tax in a quick and easy fashion. Check out http://www.sedm.org and http://www.famguard.org to get information on how to homeschool your children, how to avoid “mandatory” vaccines, how to opt out of SS#’s and passports and birth certificates etc. ad nauseam.
Check out vaclib.org to find out information on WHY vaccines are no good for you or for your children. Stand up and fight. Don’t let fear rule you or you will be crushed into the dirt. Accept Jesus as your personal Savior so you can have the strength and courage necessary to fight the Enemy that is hunting us all down.
God bless each of you for taking the time to come to infowars and be educated. Just don’t let your education stop here…this is just the 1st grade. 2nd grade has lots more.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
Yeah, searches are bad for the earth – and maybe also for Exxon Mobile, because you don’t need a trip to the library. Especially the searches for electric bikes and alternative transportation are really bad.
The extent of this scam becomes obvious as soon as you think about the progression in IT: Everything becomes faster, smaller and more efficient, so in about five years, searches will have only a fraction of the impact they have today, yet there are still folks trying to make a buck out of this in terms of research money. How stupid do they think the general public is?!?!
But thank god that video streaming is OK.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
The point is, man is a pest on the earth. We should all just shoot ourselves in the head for the good of the earth. :p
January 11th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Who gives a Shit God gave us the earth to use it up so have at it piss on all these sick bastards..
January 11th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I wonder how many grams of CO2 and methane gas were generated by the good physicist while conducting his research?

funny cause c02 makes the earth support aka humans every animal on land and it’s hurting the planet how again stupid just stupid u expect me to believe something the trees need to survive and keep us alive is bad get outa here thats a slap in the face to everyone were not that stupid i hope
January 11th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I believe , the ones equipped with a pot, are the chosen ones, who were sent by God,to deliver CO2 to earths atmosphere, whenever it is time for them to have a cup of tea. Any interference with this divine task, should be seen as ,an attack on God and Religion. sorry scientists, you were chosen to steer clear of this, and other religious work.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
It is high time we tarred and feather these clowns spreading such baseless nonsense and run them out of town.
January 11th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
How embarrassing this must be for Alex Wissner-Gross knowing none in the science community would remotely agree with his convoluted assessment. His name will be added with all the others who are considered enemies of humanity for a few dollars more. I thought Harvard was suppose to be a institution for higher learning not an institution for disinformation. Professor, YOUR AN IDIOT!
January 11th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
What really scares me is not so much the article but rather the fact that some halfwit agency will pick up on this and actually run with it. No doubt that soon the internet will be included as part of this carbon tax crap if it hasn’t already.
January 11th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
It’s not the carbon dioxide the earth needs that. Like previously stated in other articles its the eraths natural cycle and humans carbon emissions are only a small percent. They think we are stupid and then poison us with the REAL polution. F-off NWO scum bags I will not buy your propaganda!
January 11th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
Maybe if this SScientist held his breath for a week
he could trade his CO2 for “carbon credits”
{:o)
January 11th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
hummm, what is the co2 output of the FED printing all that new money?
January 11th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Today, it’s complaining about the CO2 created by our search engine usage and the methane that’s produced by our farm animals. Tomorrow it will be taxing every breath we exhale, and the need for a massive population reduction in order to “save the earth”
You sheeple who believe everything you hear from the “scientists”(scare mongerers) and everything you see on television need to wake up and smell the propaganda you mindless drones.
January 11th, 2009 at 2:44 pm
All I can say in my current drunken state is: What a bunch of bullshit. CO2 is plant food.
petitionproject.org…check out the 31,000 scientitsts, and 9,100 phd’s that say this whole Anthropogenic Global Warming idea is total bullshit.
It is bullshit. I have done extensive research over the last 2.5 years, and thats the only word for it. If you find me on other blogs and comment pages (under the same name) Im usually more tactful…
But, all I can think is one word: Bullshit!!
January 11th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
The environmental impact of computing technology is quite real, unfortunately. The small amounts of rare metals and materials that are required to build everyone a new computer every couple of years is one thing. What happens to old obsolete E-waste is another. Powering computers in every home does use up alot of power – if you don’t use your computer for a month – you should see a significant decrease in your electricy bill. Not to mention that the supercomputers and large servers that handle large amount of data traffic use much, much more power than your home computer. Some of you may not like the truth, but here it is, a computerized world does have a significant impact on the environment. I fail to see why global warming and environmental damage is quickly discounted (in spite of the overwhelming evidence) by Alex Jones and his flock. I feel that seriously weakens his credibility. It is too bad because I think he is correct about alot of things.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
“Google is secretive…”
January 11th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
The Real green movement was hijacked and corporatized. And Now its a fucking joke. They knew that if everyone switched to a healthier life style and was actually informed about the real environmental issues (like open pit uranium mining and how much it poisons the land) then they would lose money and also power over us. Their lies and blatent double talking/thinking is disgusting.

The sales of Private Jets are on the way up and doing very well. Most of these Scientists/Goverment and Eltists Mafia soldiers are contributing to the Elites fortunes for there ultimate goal sacrificing what they, the scientists, should really be doing had they been real scientists.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Superb! Briliant imagination! Paranoya has no limits! Lets just make a mass suicide to move this world closer to the requirements of Georgia Guidestones. I am just wondering how much more of this paranoidic crap we can accept/swallow? I am tired of this never ending sickness. People are so dumb and ignorant monkeys. Moving along the road like the automated zombies. Cowards give birth to another cowards and the eternal cycle goes on and on and on… No time to think, no time to ask questions, no time to say NO! Got damn it! I am fucking tired of this. We are slaves and there is no end to it. We grow up, finish our education and submerge ourselves in non-stoping daily routine of hopeless existence that we call LIFE. It is nothing else but mundane nonsense. Almost everything we do in our lives is nonsense. And on top of that THEY keep repeating how BAD you are. Yes you are BAD BAD BAD as hell and you deserve to DIE. Well, they do not say that directly but all this crap about polution, global warming and other BS is just coded message that says- HUMAN LIFE HAS NO VALUE. HUMANS DO NOT DESERVE TO EXIST.
How far can we go?
January 11th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
# 38 Digbert Shalom : Computer and electronic waste is highly toxic, and buring coal and gas is toxic as well…. but htey are focusing on the C02 emissions. It’s a game. The premise that C02 emissions are harmful is a a double thinking load of bs. Life depends on C02, and even other greenhosue gases but its killing us? LMAO The beef we have is that they want to tax everyday people who hardly emit any C02 or greenhosue gas on a global scale, when they (governments and corporations) blatently spew crap all over everything. If you think logically it makes no sense …. if you study basic geology and biology and who ecosystems work then you’d know this basic premise. They took the environmental movement and flipped it on it’s back to use it as another control mechanism. C02 is not the problem its the waste of resources and the careless dupming of poisons that is the real environmental issue.

January 11th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Well, whats the trade off??
I’m not throwing emmisions into the air when I stay home and buy something offline….as opposed to driving in my vehicle to make a purchase.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Alex Wissner-Gross, TAKE A HIKE PUNK. We The People are on to you guys, and we all know that co2 is NOT causing global warming. Plants breath in co2 and put out oxygen, thats basic biology. I guess what you want is for the government to keep tabs on how many searches someone dose and charge them accordingly.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Global warming?! Has anyone compared a Volcanic eruption to emissons generated by humans? Realize Mt. St. Helens released more carbon into atmosphere than the last 100 years of human emissions? Or that the melting of the Ice caps would release 100 times that amount? We don’t decide the fate of this planet, only the heavens do.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
dude you got massive problems if you think google search engine is that bad ? google is not the only use search engine on the internet , you should care more about gmo or companied like oil tech and gas stations that cause more polution and global warming is sure not cause by google hahhaha
January 11th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
why did you use google and not microsoft are you geting paid to bs and to try to stop google i find google the best search engine on the internet for years that i use the net
January 11th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
think of the carbon footprints we could safe if they took down all these CCTV and speed cameras, and took tasers of cops etc
January 11th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
i still use metacrawler, thank you very much
January 11th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
LOL this fucking professor needs the shit to be slapped out of him. I mean we are all worrying about these carbon footprints while the big factories pump the shit right into the air but even that gets sucked up by the trees that are ever present in this world. The problem is these fucks going down to places like the amazon and destroying the rainforest there, no reason to fuck with any heavily populated forest like the amazon or the taiga.

HA!!
I usually try to be well mannered on these message boards, so I don’t get dismissed as a knuckle dragger. But are they fucking kidding with this stuff?? At what point in this bull shit PC limp wristed society are the folks going to shake their heads & put their foot (feet) down.
Breathing is bad for the environment too I guess. CO2 & all. . .
How can these jokers seriously put an article like this out there & call themselves a scientist? If they actually believe it, they must have been labotimized or something right?
Am I the only one who feels like this gets more & more nuts as each day passes?? This article is a disgrace to humnaity. If God or an alien race or anything like that saw this article, they would smite us or assimilate us or whatever, & be totally justified in doing so.
January 11th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Of course, as they impose the carbon tax and destroy the web — and while considering the information in this article, putting our health care records online makes perfect sense.
They are so confused about how to confuse us, that all of this becomes clearer and clearer.

How many Google searches does it take to equal all the CO2 emitted from a giant global air force spraying everyone with toxic chemicals 24/7/365?
January 11th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Transmission lines account for about 26% of our energy useage. If they would have let Tesla live, maybe we would be distributing electricity without losing a quarter of the energy just to push it through lines by sending power over the airwaves. One lightning bolt would power a large city for a day. We don’t have an energy crisis, just a control of power crisis. Carbon dioxide is beneficial to all life, and necessary for plant life. We are a carbon based life form.

January 11th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
If some non-descript physicists believe a google search “costs” 7g of carbon, how many trillions of tons do they believe the Gaza Holocaust is “costing”?
I’d say if you “ring up” a google search at 7gs, I’m sure a real tangible .762mm bullet starts at a whole kilo and the “UZI” to fire it with I”m sure is then at least 50kg. Feeding just one piece of the worthless piece of goon trash that’s firing it on women and children is at least another whole ton of CO2 a week and I wonder – again if one google search is 7 grams – how many trillions of tons is just the AIPAC propaganda??
Pay up Israeli scum… oh wait. Never mind, you Chosen Nazis. because whatever you would supposedly pay would anyway come out of the pockets of taxpaying Americans you steal from through your cronies in Washington.
January 11th, 2009 at 11:04 pm
@ # 75 – Jack Boot
I totally agree with you Jack Boot!
7g of carbon!?? but shurely the computers are running and processing at the same rate regardless of wether or not one person searches on google.
And yes if google search is SOOOO BAD!
then what about the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, The recent conflicts in Gaza??
Wake up people!! there are a HELL of a lot more important things we need to sort on this plant, FUCK CARBON!!
CARBON WILL NOT KILL US IN THE NEXT THOUSAND YEARS!!
THE BULLETS, SHELLS AND BOMBS RAINING DOWN ON THE PALESTINIANS AND IRAQ`S WILL KILL THEM WITHIN SECONDS!!
im sorry to use capitols but i want to get my point across!!
stand up for truth and justice!!
January 11th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
And how much water does an undersea volcano boil? Man, these pimps are really pushin’ it for all the carbon tax they can pin on humanity. And somebody’s gonna get more than an ugly tea party if they keep it up.
January 12th, 2009 at 12:42 am
nature puts more co2 in the air than we do….and dont forget the methane from decaying matter and hydrates in the sea….and dont forget al gores 3000 a month utility bills
January 12th, 2009 at 1:08 am
thats such a marketing secret. pay off your local scientist to say that it effects the environment. for all them environmental lovers to buy their new tech computers ITS BULLSHIT

Co2 is needed in the world, the plants want more co2 not less we would be doing them a favor.

Companies should determine their Google footprint.

bullshit fucking bullshit this simply means that alex jones has be compromised or this is the elites way of getting the net the way they want it and will lead to site censorship and if stupid enough to belive accessing certain sites is causing this then we desreve to be fucking slaves
January 12th, 2009 at 2:37 am
The power to tax is the power to control (and track and trace).
January 12th, 2009 at 2:38 am
What a load of crap. Those servers are on ALL the time, whether you make a search or not. Sure if people didn’t use google they would retire some machines, but how can you quantitatively measure that a search will generate 7g of CO2 emissions?
They are always focusing on the bogus environmental problems. People are dying. That’s more important than anything. Then it is the legitimate environmental issues like toxic chemical dumping and contaminated food/water.

And now…
** With ** Google (or Yahoo or whatever):
0. Finding the solution within seconds, increasing energy efficiency by avoiding the above steps, completing the project and thus saving the day by increasing quality and productivity and lessening energy consumption at the same time.
==> So, Mr. Physicist, what does your solar powered pocket calculator say which side of the above energy dis-balance produces more CO2?
Get a frikgin brain, Mr. Physicist. – But I guess after a couple of decades of wasting government research money (probably for research results that google would have spat out immediately as the topmost result) there’s not much brain power left…
On the other hand, of course, since all the folks who are behind this media manipulation are heavily invested in China, it might actually be an attempt at being smart and doing some damage control after the Chinese demanding some of the wealth for themselves and consequently prices being on the rise.
January 12th, 2009 at 2:49 am
Sounds to me like if industry would start using all the patented energy-generating inventions that have been shelved in favour of BURNING OIL & COAL then we wouldn’t have to be that concerned about doing a ^$&*ing Google search.
What are they saying? Are they going to try to reduce people’s Google searches to save the planet? More likely, they’ll find a sexy way to tax Google searchers, per item or per annum. Kerching, instant (cough) global warming tyranny. Not save the planet, tax the planet.
Heinous.
January 12th, 2009 at 2:50 am
However that may be – LET’S SUMMARIZE: EVERY GOOGLE SEARCH SAVES ABOUT TWENTY TONS OF SEEOHTWO!! So eight grams compared to twenty tons permit only one conclusion:
**** GOOGLE MORE, NOT LESS ****
…if you believe in man made global warming, that is.
Maybe we should introduce a program that mandates a minimum amount of Google searches. This could be enforced by some C I A / N S A backdoor spyware that has to be included with every sold copy of Windows 7. Everyone who fails to comply would need to serve prison time in a forced labor prison.
That way Obama could also legalize hemp.
January 12th, 2009 at 4:07 am
More disturbing thing is at least for me that we have a lot of Chinese people working in unhealthy environments and with low wages so we can afford to regularly upgrade these machines.
January 12th, 2009 at 5:17 am
Biggest BS article ive seen in years.
January 12th, 2009 at 5:29 am
Searches are bad? Damn – now I won’t be able to find info about how awesome Obama is.
January 12th, 2009 at 5:46 am
Adjusted Quote: “Performing two Google searches from a desktop computer can generate about the same amount of carbon dioxide as boiling a kettle for a cup of tea, according to Dr. Full Oshit.”
“Google is secretive about its energy consumption and carbon footprint.” >Thereis no such secret because there is no such requirement.
“It also refuses to divulge the locations of its data centres.” > C’mon doctor, everybody knows where they are: See Eye A headquarters.
Say Wissner-Gross, perhaps we’ll have to shut down Norad and all of the military and secret servicing, black op projects, banks…everything really. So Dr. Wissner-Gross, you were saying?
January 12th, 2009 at 7:14 am
That is total bull shit. Google’s server farm in The Dalles, Oregon is powered by the hydroelectricity generated by the Columbia River! In fact they located there for that very reason – clean inexpensive electricity and a large surplus of fiber optic cable left from the dot-com boom.
January 12th, 2009 at 7:55 am
This site is getting less credibility everyday because of stupid articles like this,no wonder people don’t want to listen to any NWO/conspiracy issues when crap like this just makes it look even that more insane…myself included
January 12th, 2009 at 8:18 am
rick,
a) The article was written by a British newspaper
b) infowars are reporting it because they are showing how ridiculous the mainstream are and how ridiculous the whole concept of man made global warming is.
c) Feel free to make your SPECIFIC point again (unless you are a disnformation operative in which case you won’t be able to)
January 12th, 2009 at 8:29 am
Point taken,I was half asleep when I read this and wrote my stupidity…now that I am on my second cup of coffee…I’m GOOD!…understandable why infowars covered this one,cos it is utter spin on false Global warming nonsense…and no, I am not a disinfo operative…peace John…
January 12th, 2009 at 8:33 am
lmao what a joke, people will belive anything
January 12th, 2009 at 9:15 am
I don’t have any concern for the “extra deadly CO2 emissions”, but wouldn’t it be nice if say half that electricity went to produce real, needed goods made in factories where the workers weren’t underpaid? Now, information surely isn’t a waste, but from what I’ve seen, we should rename Google to Spooks’R'Us. And that’s never productive.
January 12th, 2009 at 10:33 am
They continue to contradict themselves. Okay so if using a computer and making searches, etc. is so bad and emits so much carbon dioxide (according to elite NWO scums) then why in the world do they continue to push everything to a digitalized world that consumes power? There has been much talk of how soon there won’t even be paper or coin currency because it will all be digitalized through a bank card or whatever. Let’s think about this…doesn’t power get consumed with every swipe of a card that must relay the info to some huge server of info the banks have? These people get more ridiculous EVERY DAY!
January 12th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
you idiots, their reporting “the story” not “their story” #96 i think your right, but you forgot to add a few people and they know who they are.
January 12th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
Freedom Forever here,
I say, wow……. How can this be?
I think they are really regulating us now.
But we haven’t seen much of anything yet.
Wait until Barack Obama Comes in.
Control freaks have always gotten theit way in the past. What does the future hold?
And Alex Jones isn’t bad or getting made up articles. These are probably real articles they would use to sell the public.
-Freedom Forever-
Tyranny, NEVER!

Dont use it then, they are tracking and filing every movement anyway read the privacy statement. buy food, ammo and get geared up for the dark days that are coming. You wont need a computer.

Alex Wissner-Gross, you tell me “Sheiky baby, I love you”. You’re a fucking liar, you piece of shit. You want to tax my internet access?! YOU WANT TO TAKE AWAY MY SPEECH?! YOU’RE A NO GOOD PIECE OF SHIT COCKSUCKER MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
This is some godforsaken silly bullshit like I ain’t never seen it.
You just HAVE to laugh at the shallow naivety that swallows this poison for ignorance.
On with the r3VOLution!!!…
!!!FTNWO!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
a good way to turn this around would be to say that if google searches are that bad we must ban computers altogether! bad for the planet wtf… dont we have enough wind energy in south dakota to power all of the united states?

i dont know about google bad for the earth, i know these nwo cunts are bad for your health
January 12th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
two options… a scroogle (google = NSA; use ’scroogle’) search for the information or a drive in a car to the local library and back again. which gives off more pollution? carbon dioxide, by the way, is not pollution. if it was, maybe we should stop exhaling it.
January 12th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Whoever wrote this pile of crap should be slapped squarely across the chops.
I have just two comments:
1) Try to picture the people who will actually believe this garbage.
2) Picture this “Physicist” character. First class Shill. No way this guys a legit physicist.
LIAR!!!!
I wonder how many times someone will do a search to read this article?
Hey guy, quit writing articles you’re killing the Earth!
January 12th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
Put it on geothermal power, or any of the other 20 different free energy methods.
Anyone who isn’t a corrupt politician or banker standing to make millons on a Carbon Tax cannot seriously think it will solve anything or do any good.
I’m sure I could find a couple thousand who do though…
Get a clue zombies… get a clue….
January 12th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Wow, I thought this article was going to talk about how it’s bad for the people of earth looking up information that is controlled by Google. If I want to do a search on purchasing a product in Google I will be shown the top 10 links for companies that have paid Google to have their Ads at the top of the page. Physically bad for the earth? Questionable…
January 12th, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Ray, good point. CO2 is part of the life cycle. What is really scary is Genetic pollution from GM crops and Depleted Uranium munitions. The story fails to list these types of pollution, let alone the CO2 Production from things like the war on terror or the CO2 from the production of nuclear warheads and missiles built during the cold war and them decommissioned a few decades later. It is a one-two punch of lies through omission and misdirection journalism.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we had real news from the TV and news papers?
The day is coming. REVOLUTION.
January 12th, 2009 at 11:47 pm
The real danger is in the forced enslavement of electrons into a life of magnetically aligned servitude. How many electrons do you think we can enslave before we affect the magnetic fields of the earth? This could be why the magnetic field of the earth is fluctuating wildly, if it is reduced too much then we could be bombarded by intense solar winds since the magnetic field acts as a shield against solar storms. Every letter I type brings us one dangerous step closer to being blasted by solar radiation. Take that and smoke it in your carbon taxed pipe :>)
January 13th, 2009 at 12:58 am
Google Warming? It’s Al Gore’s fault for inventing the internet in the first place.
January 13th, 2009 at 7:50 am
118, that’s funny.
it’s all the consumers fault always. no mention of what damage might be done by the thousands of sorties flown over iraq, or the bombs, spent ammunition, etc from this war and others. nope it’s the american consumers fault for using google. wonder what kind of damage is done by all the satelites flyin around overhead? the space station. probably none. i’ll bet that all the hot air coming from washington doesn’t help.
January 13th, 2009 at 9:00 am
Common_Tater is right!
FREE THE ELECTRONS!!!
Unless they are Jewish electrons… I don’t want to be “anti-semito-lectrical.”
January 13th, 2009 at 9:45 am
ROFL! that is too silly. No such thing.
Dear World,
You are entering a warming period that happens every 1000 years. This does not mean that you should continue poluting. This also does not mean we have not been manipulating the environment.
January 13th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
bollox to co2
its a con
January 13th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Fucking breathing is bad for the environment. Kill everyone! Problem solved…
January 13th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
FREE THE ELECTRONS!
Why do you think global warming and climate change are occurring? Its because the magnetic field around the earth is changing, it is changing because we are forcing electrons into magnetic alignments through digital storage. The solar winds bring high concentrations of electromagnetic energy which our earth’s magnetic field deflects when working properly. The only way to survive is to go back to an agrarian based existence. All other efforts are futile. Electronic money is also destroying the environment due to the large magnetic requirements for database storage. Free the electrons, trade in gold and silver for food grown yourselves! Liberty awaits!

January 14th, 2009 at 10:06 am
There’s already a solution for global warming farce….. GET RID OF THE BANKING ELITE AND ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORT THEM!
Peace!
January 14th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
“about 2% of global CO2 emissions” bs
It might be less easy to dismiss if it read “about 2% of global man-made CO2 emissions”
January 14th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
#118 LMAO!!!!! I was thinking the same thing!
Besides, if we all stopped using the internet and telephones big brother would have a hard time keeping his thumb on everyone. Funny how that works. In the end, they learn nothing.
January 15th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
So this article is suggesting that google requires 200MW or one whole power station to run its servers?
Seems like a dubious claim.
Kettle 1000W takes about 3 minutes to boil a cup of water means 50Wh.
2 searches per cup so 100million cups per day (over 24hours)
50Wh/24 = 2Watts on average needed per cup, therefore 200million watts needed
January 15th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
I like to GOOGLE over a hot cop of tea or coffie. I guess that makes me a real global warming bastard! Thank you! thank you!
January 15th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
I am convinced after a few years of reading about the camps, fema, bluebeam, and the elite rich conspiricy. the 911 lie etc. It sounds like its almost to late to stop them. Alex, Niomi Wolf. Very convincing. A few of 2 or 3 of these people offer there evidence free to download. Free for all, Get the word out. BUT Alex, Niomi and all the rest are still trying to make you PAY for this information. If I had a serios message for the American people..I would be making every bit of it available for download at this late stage of the master plan. Google is the only easy way of getting the information, right into your home. Kinda makes a dent in the seriousness of it all. For a few dollars more..
