Pittsburgh: Beta Test for a Police State

The G-20 police response in Pittsburgh was a beta test. “We spent months getting ready for this and it was a lot of preparation, but we’ll see the dividends of that for a long time to come,” Public Safety Director Michael Huss told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
In other words, Pittsburgh is not going to stand-down now that the G-20 has departed. The “dividend” is that it will remain a militarized police state.
All the Homeland Security training was not for naught. Deputy police Chief Paul Donaldson said the training involved 716 of the force’s 872 officers as well as 254 officers from the Allegheny County police, county Sheriff’s Office, Port Authority Transit and University of Pittsburgh. Cops were given riot gear and the latest anti-First Amendment technology, including the now infamous LRAD. “A federal grant of $200,000 allowed police to buy four Long Range Acoustic Devices, or LRADs, which were used to disperse protesters,” the newspaper reports.
During the G-20, there were 6,000 heavily armed and outfitted cops on the street in response to 5,000 demonstrators, the vast majority of them peaceful.
Pittsburgh is the poster child for the police state. In 2007, the cops rolled out a 20-ton armored truck with a blast-resistant body, armored rotating roof hatch and gunports in response to street crime and violence. The $250,000 armored vehicle was paid for with Homeland Security money.
“With scores of police agencies large and small, from Lexington, Ky., to Austin, Texas, buying armored vehicles at Homeland Security expense, some criminal justice experts warn that their use in fighting everyday crime could do more harm than good and represents a post-9/11, militaristic turn away from the more cooperative community-policing approach promoted in the 1990s,” writes Ramit Plushnick-Masti. “Law enforcement agencies say the growing use of the vehicles, a practice that also has its defenders in the academic field of criminal justice, helps ensure police have the tools they need to deal with hostage situations, heavy gunfire and acts of terrorism.”
In Pittsburgh during the G-20, there were no terrorists — unless you consider citizens opposed to globalism and the world government schemes of the banksters terrorists. No hostages were taken, no drug-running gang-bangers were shooting at the police.
All around the country local law enforcement is looking to the feds to provide high-tech military hardware. San Francisco wants $125,000 for an armored vehicle and $200,000 for a mobile command vehicle. Sparks, Nevada wants $600,000 to purchase a “live fire” house its SWAT team can shoot up, and another $420,000 for a SWAT armored vehicle. Gary, Indiana wants $750,000 for a host of “modernization” upgrades to its police department, including “sub-automatic machine guns” and an armored vehicle. Ottawa, Illinois (population: 18,307) wants $60,000 to purchase, among other things, five “tactical entry rifles.”
“Why is our civilian law enforcement in an arms race, and who are they arming against? Why us of course. What use to be six to ten man SWAT teams are now platoon size of 25 if not more. The City Police, Sheriffs etc, are armed to the teeth and resemble SS units, this is a way to circumvent Posse Comitatus in the coming Martial Law,” writes Open Dialogue Government. “They are not rounding up illegal aliens or criminal street gangs who reek havoc on our country. They are here for us.”

In addition to Homeland Security money, cities want to use “stimulus” funds to get up to speed on the high-tech surveillance state. The following cities requested stimulus funds to supplement, initiate, or upgrade public surveillance camera systems: Brockton, Massachusetts; Buffalo, New York; Burnsville, Minnesota; Caguas, Puerto Rico; Cerritos, California; Columbia, South Carolina; Compton, California; Homestead, Florida; Hormigueros, Puerto Rico; Indianapolis, Indiana; Inglewood, California; Lewiston, Maine; Lorain, Ohio; Lynn, Massachusetts; Marion, Ohio; Merced, California; New Rochelle, New York; North Richland Hills, Texas; Oakland, California; Orange, New Jersey; Orem, Utah; Orlando, Florida; Pembroke Pines, Florida; Ponce, Puerto Rico; Riverdale, Illinois; Shreveport, Louisiana; Silver City, New Mexico; Sumter, South Carolina; Tallahassee, Florida; Warren, Ohio; and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. And you thought the “stimulus” was about jobs and the economy.
The in-your-face “militarization of domestic law enforcement is now coupled with the military’s own rapid development and deployment of ‘non-lethal weapons’ systems which inevitably, will be ’shared’ with civilian police for ‘crowd control.’ As with data mining, DHS spy-satellite surveillance, blanket CCTV coverage of American cities, illegal FBI deployment of infiltrators and provocateurs, ‘mission creep’ by the Pentagon into civil affairs are signs that stronger measures to blunt the crisis may be in the offing,” Tom Burghardt wrote in October, 2008.
Add to the list the deployment of combat-hardened troops in the U.S. and numerous “exercises” for “emergency preparedness” and we have the finishing touches on a police state ready to be unleashed provided the appropriate staged terror attack or — more likely — during the coming unrest in response to the unraveling economy.
Homeland security is officially defined by the National Strategy for Homeland Security as “a concerted national effort to prevent terrorist attacks within the United States, reduce America’s vulnerability to terrorism, and minimize the damage and recover from attacks that do occur.” It has superseded that mission.
In fact, Homeland Security was never about al-Qaeda or external terrorist attacks. It was from day one about the American people, specifically those Americans outlined in the DHS report on “rightwing extremism” — advocates of the Second Amendment and those of us who are demanding a return to a constitutional republic and a drastically scaled back federal government.

Using plastic bags containing paint is extremely efficient against this kind of police, because they have to take off their protective gear, helmets and gas masks. You just add couple of egg whites to make it sticky.

Yes I have three very power weapons, including a sniper rifle, 7.62 mm assault rifle, and and xd45. I also have a PAINTBALL GUN. It will be fun to shoot them with it. I think a combination of bags of paint(eggs inside) and a another group with paintball guns firing at the same time right after they launch the tear gas will allow us to rush them and beat the shit out of them. Take all of there equipment and go after the next group. We need to carry a small knife to cut the tires of the LRAD AND MICROWAVE WEAPONS VEHICLES.

Not a bad idea, Max. But, remember, you’re attacking police officers with potentially lethal chemical substances. This will give them an excuse to defend themselves using deadly force. Harken back to Kent State during the Viet Nam War. Frightened, ill-trained weekend warriors opened fire with M-1 Garands on rock throwers. That was considered “reasonable force” under the circumstances.
The laws and judges are on the side of the police, regardless of who has the moral high ground. Americans are conditioned to believe that the police are the only thing standing between them and chaos. This is bolstered by our “free press”, who are equally free to print the facts or ignore them. The response you are suggesting should only be one aspect of multi-pronged resistance against police tyranny which includes much advance planning and networking with like-minded patriots. Good luck!

yes this is true…when i was 16 i was sleeping in a building under constution, they came in and i thought , i have to leave, but they beat me up…..that was the last itme that happened …
to date i have had 8 fights with police i beat them or it was a stand off and in all cases they went away no charges….except once when i put two cops in the hostpital that were beating me, one had me in a full nelson and the other was punching me……..anyways i kicked the puncher and at the same time ramed the other into the wall behind him ….they went down and didnt get up…..i had to do 30 days for that….lol definetly worth it
so i can say with experience……..put it on them and they will stand down….

All should read and study Ernesto Che Guevarra, “On Guerrilla Warfare”. Choice of weapons (tools) is important, but strategy and tactics wins battles and wars. Particularly study the “Minuet” tactics which were used by vastly outnumbered guerrilla forces against the Batista army columns. The Minuet pulls the larger force apart, dis-organizes it, confuses it, causes it to lose focus. Remember that city streets channelize movement the same as steep, overgrown jungle terrain does. Use that. Study military and police manuals on crowd control and riot control. Know what they are trying to do. Think like the Turks did in Korean POW camps, if they take your leader away, become the leader. Do not fight a “set Piece” battle that you cannot win. Hit where they least expect it, when they least expect it. If they are in the streets, who’s watching the department’s headquarters? Yes, take out the sound weapons and any other vehicles they depend on. DO NOT GET ARRESTED VOLUNTARILY TO MAKE A POINT ! ! ! Be a Guerrilla, not a one battle fool. Survive to come back from another direction. Honestly, this is stupid. I live in Pittsburgh. We’re not some kind of beta test for a police state. The huge police/military presence that was here during the G20 is gone.
And I personally love the fact that local police officers and sheriffs are being more heavily armed, rather than the military getting a bunch of new toys. When it comes down to it, if shit hits the fan, local police are going to have a hell of a lot harder time shooting their friends and family than some soldier who’s never heard of your city, and will be a lot easier to convince to defend the constitution and their fellow American than your average Tin Soldier (and by all means no offense to our free-thinking brothers and sisters in the military, of course).
Like it or not, the sheriffs and local police are our first line of defense against any tyrannical government takeover. People put too much of a bad image on our brothers in the police and sheriff departments. I think that might be part of the problem–this whole “evil police” image that gets put out, so that when something does go down, people don’t trust the police. Then that whole extra layer of protection from government corruption, that we once had, gets stripped away.
Then all that’s left are the gun owners who have the patriotic balls to defend the constitution–and there aren’t as many as I’d like to see.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this- my husband is training to be a cop or some kind of law enforcement, and he’s no dummy. He reads the stuff on this website. He is a Christian first, husband second, father third, and then whatever else he becomes, cop or whatever. I don’t doubt there are some meat-head cops out there- we lived next door to one who was on the SWAT team and just lived for those calls, he was a little crazy.
I also agree with the minority rogue element- those people who have their little cave all picked out and stocked with supplies and stuff- that’s fine, but I am not into the violence. I will not answer their violence and control with a violent outburst of my own. I will stand up for my rights, but I will not take a life. That is supposed to be what seperates us from them. They are the effed-up animals- we are the decent people who just want our freedom, who just want to live and enjoy this short existence until eternity. I would like to agree that the local LE would be there on the side of the citizenry to protect and defend against tyranny but I have little confidence in that. I have read many comments coming from all areas that the military will also be involved in this so called military state when it hits. You are right, we will be but not on the side you may think. I am a member of the military and the reactions from many of my counter parts after watching some of these videos is “What the Hell this is not what we took anoath to defend” I do belive that when all hell breaks loose between the civilain population and police SS you wil find the military standing beside the civilians. I do however pray this never happens. But I am sick of this police brutality and ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with the civilians and fight if it comes to that.

This is why I suspect they are not bringing the boys home. They need to keep them off continent so they cannot help their people. The occupying army will be UN or private. Think how easy it is to start shooting at Afghan insurgents and you’ll understand how easily they will fire on US citizens.

The idiots who are calling for open rebellion, and general strikes are calling for the same thing… namely a breeding ground for provocateurs and lawlessness. As it stands now, we have the law on our side, we just need to get up off our lazy backsides and make a few phone calls, send a few emails, and spend a few hours a week overseeing local politics… basically, raise a little awareness… the more people speak up in the course of their normal daily lives, the less likely these bastards are to do anything, and the more likely we are to drive them back groveling to their elitist New World order masters…

To all you people on here that want to shoot the police with Molatovs(which can blow a tank) and paint ball guns, LAY OFF!
You need to be armed yes, but I don’t think attacking the police is a good idea. They probably have assault rifles in the armoured vehicle.
Look back fo a moment at the minutemen. They went to “protest” with their muskets loaded. But they did not fire or provoke the brits. The british fired and the battle began. When the police start beating people up and making mass arrests then I say you should line up in the street with your fellow patriots and have your rifles in plain view on your shoulders.
If the police order you to lay down your arms, then you have a bullhorn and you tell them to back off.I would advise you to also wear some sort of uniforms so you don’t appear to be a gun-happy mob.
That’s my two cents,let me know what you think.

This has to be said here again…. A lot of people are reading this thread and monitoring it with waiting intent, BUT I am the only one moderating it… there are a few of you who are attempting to suck some poor unwitting idiot into calling for violence… which will get us all into trouble. I won’t let that happen!
I would have the regular readership here know that a few of these guys who are running this particular line of commentary, playing both sides, are actually one guy using different names… this is the conniving nature of the New World order.
Anyone with two brain cells firing knows, that 100 million armed militia in their homes spread all around the country will require a huge force to dislodge this is good… conversely, anyone who thinks that amassing a few thousand gunowners in one spot against an armed military force with tanks, planes, missiles etc. is the thing to do… IS FRICKING CRAZY.
Let the bastards come to you… make them spread their force… we have the law on our side and they don’t have enough men and they know it. The greatest thing you could do right now, is support the Second Amendment, hook up with Gun Owners of America, call your congressman with pro Second amendment instructions, tell them to support the Audit the Fed Bill to take off the snake’s head. Harass your town Council over local gun ordinances that are against the Second Amendment, buy firearms and ammunition… be proactive… instead of acting like reactionary idiots going off half cocked.
Remember, whichever side fires the first shot… looses the war!

I heard Rhodes on the show today talking about how the OathKeepers are having a big meeting at a hotel in Vegas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for what this group claims to be attempting to accomplish, but it seems to me that if they really wanted to make a point, that “meeting” should have been held in Pittsburgh. Don’t recall any unconstitutional police mass actions taking place in a Vegas hotel.
I agree tha ttheir organization takes time, but during that time, if they just want to “educate” rather than take a more proactive, effective publuc stance, then I’m afraid they will be useless to this country. Little colums in SWAT magazine aren’t good enough. If you want to write, then write to the local, State and federal politicians, as well as the law enforcement agencies and tell them that you stand against their illegal tyranny.
