Pittsburgh shooter was fan of online conspiracy theories

The unemployed twenty-two year old man who killed three Pittsburgh police officers and wounded two others in a four-hour shootout on Saturday morning had been heavily influenced by extremist conspiracy theories prior to the incident.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Richard Poplawski was “convinced the nation was secretly controlled by a cabal that would eradicate freedom of speech, take away his guns and use the military to enslave the citizenry. … He appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country.”
Some of Poplawski’s beliefs are fairly commonplace among conservatives. For example, fears that the Obama administration intends to somehow ban gun ownership have recently become a staple on such relatively mainstream outlets as Glenn Beck’s program on Fox News.

Perkovic was apparently referring to the so-called “sovereign state movement,” promoted by the Tenth Amendment Center, which presents secession as a reasonable response to federal gun laws and the power of the Federal Reserve and has recently encouraged legislators in a number of states to introduce resolutions reaffirming states rights.
The Post-Gazette also mentions the conspiracy theory website PrisonPlanet, run by radio talk show host Alex Jones, as a source for some of Poplawski’s more off-the-wall notions.
Last fall, that site ran an article, “U.S. Troops In Homeland ‘Crowd Control’ Patrols From October 1st,” which claimed that “U.S. troops returning from duty in Iraq will be carrying out homeland patrols in America from October 1st in complete violation of Posse Comitatus for the purposes of helping with ‘civil unrest and crowd control’ – which could include dealing with unruly Americans after a complete economic collapse.”
Poplawski had also posted pictures of himself at Stormfront, a white supremacist website whose slogan is “white pride worldwide.” The discussion of the shootings at Stormfront, which began with speculations that the gunman would turn out to be “some non-white” or “a jew,” then turned to suspicions that the recent rash of shootings is a “setup” to push through gun control legislation, has become oddly muted since the revelation that Poplawski appears to be one of theirs.

Scientists find active ’super-thermite’ in WTC dust

A team of nine scientists have unearthed startling data from dust
gathered in the days and weeks after the World Trade Center towers
collapsed on 9/11. They discovered that scattered throughout the
dust samples were red and gray chips of ‘active thermitic
material’, or an un-reacted pyrotechnic explosive.
Thermite is used in steel welding, fireworks shows, and hand
grenades. It is the combination of a metal powder and a metal oxide
which produce a reaction known for extremely high temperatures
focused in a very small area for a short period of time. The
‘active thermitic material’ discovered in the World Trade Center
dust was a combination of elemental aluminum and iron oxide, and is
a form of thermite known as ‘nano-structured super-thermite’.
“These observations reminded us of nano-thermite fabricated at the
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and elsewhere; available
papers describe this material as an intimate mixture of UFG[Ultra-
fine grain] aluminum and iron oxide in nano-thermite composites to
form pyrotechnics or explosives. Commercially available thermite
behaves as an incendiary when ignited, but when the ingredients are
ultra-fine grain and are intimately mixed, this ‘nano-thermite’
reacts very rapidly, even explosively, and is sometimes referred to
as ’super-thermite’,” the report explains.

Some of the authors of the paper have lost their jobs at
universities and chemistry labs for their outspoken breakdown of
what happened at the World Trade Center on 9/11. Kevin Ryan lost
his job as a lab director after writing a letter to the National
Institute for Standards and Technology(NIST was conducting an
investigation into 9/11 at the time) challenging the common theory
that burning jet fuel weakened the steel supports holding up the
110-story skyscrapers. Ryan claims that the owner of his laboratory
subsidiary “was the company that certified the steel components
used in the construction of the WTC buildings,” according to the
South Bend Tribune. Dr. Steven E. Jones, a physicist at Brigham
Young University, presented a paper in 2005 discussing alternative
theories to the commonly accepted ‘jet fuel’ reasoning. In
September 2006 he was placed on paid administrative leave and his
paper was removed from the BYU database.
Jones has told Visibility911.com, “In short, the paper explodes the
official story that ‘no evidence’ exists for explosive/pyrotechnic
materials in the WTC buildings.”
Parts of the report mention other studies being conducted by the
scientists that will come out soon.

“A police criminal complaint described the sequence of events that began with a domestic-violence call at 7:03 a.m. and led to the shooting deaths of Officers Paul Sciullo III, Stephen J. Mayhle and Eric Kelly at 1016 Fairfield St.
The suspect’s mother, Margaret Poplawski, called 911 to say that she had argued with her son after she discovered that a dog had urinated on the floor of the house. She told police she wanted him removed.
Officers Sciullo and Mayhle radioed at 7:11 that they had arrived at the home. Mrs. Poplawski told police she opened the door and told police “come and take his ass.”
When the officers were 10 feet into the residence, “she heard gunshots, turned and saw her son about six feet away with a long rifle in his hands, at which point she fled downstairs after asking him ‘what the hell have you done?’ ” according to the report.”

You are correct in one aspect freedomworks, it’s not law enforcement who are the initiators of the NWO but they are the ones who give them their teeth. Try to march on Washington, Langley or even the smallest town to expose a corrupt official and demand a redress of grievances and see who starts thumping on your head.

So I guess one of the “good” ones was going to come into the house and seperate this guy from all his possessions because his dog pissed on the floor and his mother was throwing a temper tantrum about it.
There were no allegations of violence toward her. She had taken on the the position of landlord and should not have been able to seperate this guy from his belongings without a little notice. If she didn’t like it she could leave until he had time to get his things together.
We’ll never know if this guy would have been given the chance because of his actions but judging by the actions of other police who brutally beat the homeless without cause, shoot people in the back while they’re restrained and go around beating fifteen year old girls (to name only a couple of examples) what should they have expected.
Until something is done to make it unequivically clear that we are fed up and are not going to take it any more UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES then the abuse by the authorities upon us will not only continue but wax worse and worse.
Is it unreasonable to expect a little accountability from the “other side” instead of paid leave with a statement that always end with “no instance was found where department proceedure or protocol was violated”. Get real.
When law enforcement and the government starting treating people like humans perhaps they should then be given the same in return.

Not once have I expressed “satisfaction” concerning the deaths of the officers who responded to the call. On the contrary I am deeply disturbed that our nation has descended into what will no doubt become the next great fascist “beast” on the world scene. It will make nazi germany look like a boy scout outing.
The police beat, maim and kill innocent people all the time while protecting the criminals who have taken control of this country. I’m not insane only a realist and one who takes the lessons of history to heart. The events that are occuring across this country are indeed tragic for all concerned. But as the criminal elements within our government struggle to maintain control and the poor struggle for relief you will see more oppression and more violence. It’s only a matter of time.

Personally, I’m waiting to hear that he’d been in “therapy” and recently “went off” his “meds”. That seems a common thread to a lot of shootings these days. Officer threatened to shoot me. So I turned around and ask what. Oh people said u past by here and might have seen a robbery take place. I said officer i didnt see anything. Simple in my metal psych i never thought anything of it or say I am going to retaliate for what he said or him drwaing his gun and pointing.
So to all u locos- psychos there are good cops and bad cops and they are humans just like the rest of us. I learnt that if u are polite with officers they give back the same mutual respect. There some who dont deserve it(respect) though but that dont mean u should rob them of their right to live.

This report ran in the paper touched on some good points. most people know the country is run by Zionists/globalists and that the government is trying to steal our rights, take our guns, having our troops patrol our streets etc. Now more people know it. Plus what better advertising for prisonplanet can you get? Memberships going up for sure. Alot of cops know whats going on too. Hell. the LA county Sheriffs departments pledge/oath for swearing in new deputy’s says, protect the people, protect the constitution etc. and then says fight against anti antisemitics !! I have talked to their deputy’s and had them tell me that they know who the enemy is and its not us. now i dont agree with murdering cops,but at least they know that people are getting pissed at the state of our union and are tired of our rights being s--- on. I wouldn’t doubt that the man who shot the people in Philadelphia listened to shows like AJ and others. I once said on this forum that AJ has to be very careful because there are people who are weak minded and could take things in another way. I find that sometimes it get on my nerves and I have to take deep breaths to try and relax. I have to learn that a lot of things can be bogus and to learn to make up my own mind to what is really going on. I asked myself if I can do anything to change the evil in the government and I said no I can’t do it alone. The only way to get rid of all this is to do away with the entire government and even if we do that then someone else is going to take over. These secret societies run the whole world not only the US. People’s minds were stuck on that damn idiot tube they call TV and Hollywood is coming out with movies about what is going on and many people think that it is just entertainment.

His mother called the police to have them make him leave after an arguement about his dog pissing in the house. When they arrived, he stood behind her and shot the first two standing in the doorway. He wasn’t wanted. He wasn’t suspected of anything. The question is why he acted the way he did. Spreading lies helps nothing.
Also some have mentioned that he was killed. He wasn’t. He put a vest on while they were on the way and that probably saved him. They say he’s in the hospital with gun shot wounds to the legs.

Damn well said. Too many people think any fight… is a good fight. One of Alex’s guests’ put it well… when you get off the beaten path of the mainstream media… it is easy to end up stuck in the mud. I have sympathy for people who are misguided and misinformed, with half the story or less…because I think it’s a common problem…for all of us at every level of awareness.
Despite the fact that this site does attract all types of nutjobs… I like coming here because I get real news, without the left-right spin…and even though some stories are over-dramatized for my taste (maybe FEMA camps and mass graves) many stories are understated, and often the only coverage in the mass media, period (e.g. Georgia Invasion, Bilderberg Meetings, Baxter Bird Flu Release). All the other crap that goes on in these message boards should not be considered a fair representation of the information on the frontpage and the quality or sanity of the readership…. and just because one lone nut living at home with mommie, with strange military connections (big surprise…) and good taste in media, goes ape… doesn’t mean all skeptics who puruse Infowars.com are locked and loaded and haters of Obama, the Cops, the Feds, Blacks, Jews or Muslims……or anyone else for that matter. Don’t brand all…for one! Most people who contribtue to this community are liberty lovers who want to solve the problems we see in our communities, Washington, and the world….we don’t want to be counterproductive, which seems like the basis of our programming. No, you can’t blame Alex Jones for the actions of this character, but there are a lot of crazies
(imbalanced people) who listen to his show. I mean people who have trouble distinguishing
fantasy from reality. These same people get their news from Rush, Savage, Fox, etc, and
most are incapable of researching various subjects to seek out the truth.
I recall a few years ago a young man shot a cop who had stopped him. His defense was that
he was hyped up from listening to gangster rap. I can see how his emotional state could have
caused him to be “predisposed” to do what he did.
All this talk about the government [esp. Democrats]taking our guns is mostly opinion and not facts. I’m always hearing rightwingers talking about losing “their guns” which is a probability, but never concern themselves with the freedoms we’ve already lost….like Habeas Corpus, illegal spying, not being able to asemble to protest, freedom of speech and of the press.
I listen to Alex but sometime I have to turn him off when he goes into his ranting and hyperbola.
The show would be much more effective if he stick to the which can be proven and state his
opinions as opinons. I say this because I like the show but I also read the comments of others
who tend to discount everything his says. based on a few things he may have gotten wrong.

I am well aware of the false left/right paradigm, but what good is violence especially when you
don’t know who the “real enemy” is? This was probably the case with the young man doing the
shooting. I often hear “vote all the bastards out!”, that is not the solution either. You must
first find out who is responsible for making the policies which give more power to the elite while
hurting the average Joes.
The reason I said what I said is because I know people who won’t vote Dem because of the gun
issue, but they vote Repub not thnking about other economic and personal freedom issues which
a great many Repubs have voted to abolish. My take is that they should look at how their local
representaives vote on all issues before they run out to reelect them…or consider voting third

First off: How do we know that someone well meaning or otherwise talked Mommie into calling th e police on her own son. Over a dog pissing? He over heard this and got geared up.
How do you know this guy did not just come back from combat? How do you feel after carring a gun 24/7 for a year or two?
I really resent Alex saying it is always Marines!!! My husband is an ex Marine and is not a crazy.

And what about the bullet proof vest? You cannot buy a vest unless you are a cop or otherwise. Every single site will ask you about your association with law enforcement. Funny we cannot have one but the police can.

All I can do is state what the media here in Pittsburgh is saying. There’s no need to lecture me on where the info comes from, please. Saying this kid is a Marine is a stretch, he didn’t get through basic training, so he didn’t get back from combat and carrying his gun 24/7 for a year or two.
But that’s where things get fishy. There are now three stories of why he was discharged. First, he threw a lunch tray at an officer. Then he asked to go because he couldn’t take the “intensity” of the training (he appears fit in pictures, and reports have him saying he works out often). Finally, he asked to leave because he missed his girlfriend (who would later file a PFA against him). So which is it? Can’t that be proven?
On his schooling,one report says he was kicked out of high school. Another story said he quit going because he wanted to join the military after 9/11. He would have been 14. Does that make sense? I haven’t seen when he left school, but that should be easy to prove.
On his work, its just as sketchy. First, I read his last job was part time at an unnamed glass company. Then it was part time at an unnamed metal company. Also they say he lived and worked for two years in West Palm Beach, Fla (company unnamed). Again, easy to be proven.
Now this whole thing is only about 36 hours old and on the weekend, so I’ll wait and hope these things are settled. Speculating is bad thing to do, but the media has no problem with it – so I’ll do it, too.
Another aspect is his father, who hasn’t been mentioned except to say he’s “out of the picture”. How do we know that? What’s his name? When was the divorce? Where does he live? Who does he work for? They seem convinced it doesn’t matter, slightly reminescent of the 9/11 money trail being “of no concern.”
Funny how these simple things are too much to find out, but his political thoughts and the websites he visits are so universely known, isn’t it?
They find it awfully easy to name his motive and conflate AJ with militia and racists.
For being young, and with an apparent spotty, part-time employment history, how did he afford those weapons? So far, I think it was a rifle, AK-47 (that one, they say he just bought, for fear Obama won’t allow it later, but was unemployed at the same time), .357, .38, .45, a bullet-proof vest, and a stockpile of ammo.
If I were to step off the cliff of speculation, I might wonder if his father could be military/government. I might wonder if that could be why he left school, to begin his training. I might wonder if his discharge isn’t a way of saying heading off to special training in, say, West Palm Beach.
Why weren’t the police informed that there were weapons at the house as asked in the above post? Maybe his mother didn’t know, but it would be interesting to see if the question was asked.
But I don’t want to speculate.

I’m happy to say that stories, in the two papers in Pittsburgh, today make no mention of Infowars, PP, Alex Jones, or any other websites for that matter. Not to say the threat is gone, but I was afraid I’d find the media calling for the heads of the people who “misled” him.
There was this from his mother, which is kind of interesting (but, of course, she might be crazier than her son may be). From the Post-Gazette:
“Earlier yesterday, she called David Shribman, executive editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, to complain about the newspaper’s coverage of the shootings and threaten a lawsuit.
She demanded that the newspaper stop publishing information about her and her son, saying the reporting thus far was not factual and should be limited to the officers and their grieving families.
“You’re going to have the biggest lawsuit in the history of the city of Pittsburgh,” she later told a reporter.”

I sort of agree with you. If alex does indeed work for the government or whoever, the only purpose i can see him serving is to help start riots or to get people so immersed in current events that we don’t address the the root of the new world order plague.

Hangman…good post. I’ll still take my 7.62 over my .22 any day, but I often encourage patriots on a budget to buy .22 rifles. Ammo is cheap. Simple to shoot, accurate and relatively quiet.
Personally, my .22 is for when my AR is empty.

You have to be patient because finding out facts as this is happening is not easy and yes, you will get some contradicitons, but in the end it is cleared up and the story makes sense at least a week later. stop your paranoyia.!!!!!!

I’ve worked as a newswhore and yes it can be hard to get facts as most elected public servants are lying in one way or another when they are interviewed. It’s the way ‘journalism’ is set up and ran that is a major part of the problem. They’d rather produce crap for a deadline than reprint another persons or pub’s article that is worth reading. Also most mainstream newswhores are commies and many are too stupid to know what they really are. They’re braindead and think they’re ‘educated, intelligent and normal.’

You guys have it all wrong, you now why this happened? In the Marine corp they teach you to be a killer. A minimum wage assassin. That was a bunch of s---. Listen people, there are aspects of this that deserve a closer look, but the idiot at this link stated a couple of times that the cops were coming to take his guns. NO THEY WEREN’T. They came because his mother called them. I was wondering about it yesterday, and finally found the report that says she told the 911 dispatcher that there were NO weapons in the house (as they ask on a domestic call). The first two cops walked up, knocked on the door, were let in by his mother, and were ambushed and murdered. That’s how they handle a gun confiscation? Walk in like cows to the slaughter?
A guy up above is saying “What do you expect, when his gov won’t help with the trauma he has after serving in iraq? You’d be pissed, too.” Problem is, he didn’t make it through boot camp! I don’t think he went to iraq on his own, so probably wasn’t traumatized there either.
For being members of a “truth movement”, some people sure don’t mind lying. Read things before you speak about them please.

I want to clear the air here. He didnt have PTSD, he wasnt a trained killer. He enlisted in the Marines but was not a Marine. He lacked the mental toughness to be a Marine and so he threw his popsicle down and got out with less than a honorable discharge. Because he was a lonely boy, missed his girl friend and mommy and coundnt take the pressure. The training is made to make the weak crack and quit. Because we dont need weak men in combat.
There are many issues that he followed as do we all here that are critical to be aware of that may determine our future freedom. Had he possesed the inner strength he would have treated his mother with more respect and met the cops on the porch, and tried to defuse the situation.
We all know those type of encounters seldom go well. But better that what resulted.
That being said the cops entered the house armed and hostile. The man was mentaly prepared to defend himself from what he correctly perceived as a police state and now the police state was at his door and in his house. It would be difficult to predict another conclusion given that mix. I think it says more about the political and state of affairs and the paranoia created by the posturing of government with the huge volume of constructive evidence that is now main stream public knowledge that supports the police state as existing. Its here.
Given time more sheeple will wake up, and I pray there is enough time left that this can be turned around. I dont have much confidence in that though because all the perpetrators would need to be arrested and we would depend on those such as the police and other law enforcement agencies to do that and frankly I dont think they have the courage to challenge the powers they worship to let the rest of us stay free.
