Brown and his wife, Elaine, were found guilty of tax evasion on Thursday. She returned to her son's Massachusetts home to wait for sentencing on April 24. Ed Brown, meanwhile, holed up in his fortress-like home and skipped most of his federal tax trial.

Anti-tax supporters join Plainfield fray
PLAINFIELD Ed Brown's Plainfield (New Hampshire) home is buzzing with supporters again this week, as the anti-tax militia man continues his stand-off with the government.
Brown and his wife, Elaine, were found guilty of tax evasion on Thursday. U-S marshals say they have no plans to escalate.
About 30 people joined Brown on Sunday at his fortress-like home. Some of them are armed.
Brown has repeatedly said he would rather die than submit to the federal government.

properly COMPLY with the federal tax laws. For example, if your Uncle
Fred gave you a gift of $200 last year, you should NOT have reported it
on your tax return, because the tax code specifically says that gifts
are NOT subject to the federal income tax (26 USC 102). It's not
patriotic or noble to have reported such income on your return; it's an
ERROR. It's income you're NOT SUPPOSED TO pay taxes on (because it's
non-taxable).

Update on the Brown's Situation 01/21/07
More and more supporters are streaming in to the Brown's home in Plainfield. At first, most of the supporters have been of the unarmed variety. Now, many are coming with weapons. Families with children are coming. The Brown home offers especially good sledding, which the kids enjoyed. About 30 people showed up over the weekend.
Bob Shultz, founder of the We the People Foundation joined Ed at his home Sunday. We the People is a group dedicated to educating about the Constitution and facilitating civic action to force government to obey the Constition. We the People recently held a demonstration in Washington DC with ~100 people in V masks demanding answers about the income tax.

Letter: Government is Guilty not Browns
The entire United States Government is guilty of the tax crimes they are blaming Ed and Elaine Brown for. When I think about it, why should the Browns or anyone for that matter pay any taxes at all? After all, much of the tax money we are made to give the government winds up being wasted and/or used improperly.

David Baker has read the entire internal revenue code. Twice. The Auburn, Mass., man, who drove to Concord several times to attend Ed and Elaine Brown's tax evasion trial, said that he's spent more than 1,000 hours poring over title 26 of the federal code, searching for the provision that requires him to pay taxes.
"You will not see a law making anyone liable for these taxes," he said last week in the federal courthouse.

At least a dozen people braved the horrific wind yesterday to show their support for the Browns yesterday. Supporters from Jaffrey came with signs saying "God Bless Ed Brown", "Are the Waco Killers Coming to NH?" and "Taxation Equals Slavery". There were a lot of kids who enjoyed the sledding in the new snow. A couple of people camped out near the bonfire, and some elected to stay in the Brown's home overnight.

Elaine Brown, who the prosecutor said owed more than $625,000 in unpaid taxes, was in court to hear the verdict. Her husband, who decided to stop attending his trial last Friday, remained barricaded in the couple's fortified home in Plainfield.

to expand. I've been surfing and exploring more about Mr. Brown and the
movement behind and against him. Honestly, yes, Mr. Brown is a bit
radical. Not in standing up to Federal Forces, but in some personal
conspiracy beliefs. However, he is acting inside his constitutional
rights and in the spirit of freedom in defending himself. He tried to
fight inside the system, and failed. He now has the option of bowing to
the State, or actively fighting it.
Now, I don't desire for anyone to be harmed. Well, okay, most people. Even the police and federal agents. They are, for the most part, merely pawns of the Federal State, being told what to do. They are the soldiers, not the opressors, and I doubt many of them are Nazi-style stormtroopers.

The Foxnews crew was rejected by Ed after last nights Fox 25 (Boston) report. They came all the way from NYC and didn't get an interview....

We filmed Ed's interviews all day today, and are going into the studio tomorrow to document his position more thoroughly than the mainstream press snippets. (In fact, Ed declined to take the call below because he was filming with us and others, and had Bernie answer the phone, which just
kept ringing all day).
We will do our best to capture Ed's side of this dispute, and will make The video available for viewing as soon as possible. Many media people came To the house today, but we hope to do Ed justice by allowing him to tell His own story without going through five managers, as one reporter said Would occur to their footage before it hit the news (Channel 4 Boston).
We would have stayed if the feds showed up, but it looks like they may Cool their jets for a while and hope things cool off. Ed is exhausted, but Is truly grateful for the immense support he has been receiving. It seems obvious that it is not just Ed which is making this story grow, but the ardent and far-reaching support his story is creating. Personally, I think the mainstream media are completely baffled by the fact that so many people are rushing to Ed's aid, an aspect we tried to catch in our filming today: we shot the press as they interviewed him, and you can see that they are bewildered and trying to understand what's going on. Perhaps the internet is becoming a driver of news now, for there is no doubt that Rick Stanley's and others' efforts are galvanizing people where there would otherwise be No story. Please keep up the effort, for the feds are surely counting on a Lull to then grab Ed. He's ready to go, though he'd prefer peace and life.
Please pray for him and his family, and for those who are there in support. Ed Has plenty of room in his house, and a large heated barn. When we left at 5:30 EST, supporters had lit a bonfire at the end of the Browns' driveway, and some were sleeping in tents by the road. Ed is not alone in his ordeal.
We'll be going back down in a few days for part two, God willing.

Scofflaw 'to nullify' tax plight
Plainfield resident Ed Brown, who along with his wife was convicted of multiple felony tax evasion charges this week, said yesterday he and a group of legal analysts are preparing to take legal action "to nullify the whole problem."
"We're working on legal matters and actions," Brown said during a telephone interview. "This court is totally off the wall for its actions, and the record will show that clearly."

N.H. Tax Evader Prepares for Raid

CONCORD, N.H. — A former militia man convicted of tax evasion prepared for a government siege Friday at his fortress-like home, but U.S. marshals gave no indication they were planning to confront him.

Libertarians, militia members, patriots and Rick Stanley was thrown into what appears to be a brooding/angry stew:
The Browns' case has found support on the Internet from militia members to libertarians and anti-tax groups.
Rick Stanley, a Denver-based Web radio host and a militia leader, urged listeners to join Brown at his home.
"We are continuing to ask patriots to surround Ed Brown's property and life with a ring of armed Americans with firearms and video cameras to protect a fellow American," he said. "This is the flash point. This is the time of raised pitchforks."
