Police intercept second body part in mail after severed foot sent to Canada’s Conservative Party

Police in Ottawa reportedly discovered a human hand at a postal depot on Tuesday, just hours after a severed human foot was mailed to Canada’s Conservative Party headquarters.

The second suspicious package was reportedly sent from the same origin as the package containing the severed foot. Police would not say who the intended recipient of the package was, but confirmed it was not destined for the Conservative Party of Canada, the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Earlier Tuesday, police were called after a receptionist opened a blood-soaked box at the headquarters of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s party. The first officers to arrive saw what appeared to be blood stains on the package and immediately called in a special hazardous-materials unit. When the specialists opened the package, police found the severed foot inside.
