A police officer in Durham [Ontario, Canada] region has been charged with assault for slapping a man who had been arrested.

Jeremiah Johnson, 40, was charged after witnesses reported the incident.

On Nov. 4, police arrested a man on Nonquon Road in Oshawa. While the man was on the ground and handcuffed, witnesses said the officer slapped him on the head.

Members of the DRPS Professional Standards Unit investigated the incident and laid the charges.
