Update:

The Moosach district in Munich was sealed off Friday following a shooting at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall.
According to reports, a large police operation was underway.

Police spokeswoman Claudia Kvenzel told the media at 12:44 ET the shooting was over. No further information was provided.

News reports, however, indicate one person was killed and ten wounded in the attack.

Police warned residents to stay in their homes.

On Monday, a 17-year old immigrant from Afghanistan carried out an axe attack on a train in the southern German city of Würzburg. Four people were injured and the attacker was shot dead by police.

The Islamic State issued a bulletin via its Amaq News Agency claiming the teenager was an “Islamic State soldier.”

The attack came days after a Tunisian man killed 84 people during the Bastille Day celebration in France.

Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel “carried out the operation in response to calls to target the citizens of coalition countries fighting the Islamic State,” the Amaq News Agency said after the deadly attack.

In 2015 the German intelligence service warned the country is “importing Islamic extremism, Arab anti-Semitism, national and ethnic conflicts of other peoples, as well as a different understanding of society and law.”
